Pros: Some great benefits; Great travel protection Cons: Many benefits are impractical and useless; Very high annual fee
Premium credit cards are offered by many financial businesses and they all offer added benefits to members that sometimes carry an added cost. One of the many premium cards available is American Express Platinum, a top of the line credit card from ...

Pros: Free membership rewards subscription/Free companion Tix Cons: Read review, too many for one line.
A little background for starters to demonstrate my qualifications to rate this product:
In 1994 I started using AMEX (green card).
In 1996 I was upgraded by AMEX to Gold Card.
In 1997 I was upgraded to Platinum card.
I used...

Pros: American Express name Cons: clerical errors, no personal contact
I can hardly contain my excitement. Today in the mail I received my very first American Express Card. It is a Platinum card, and with it comes a whole new adventure in shopping for me, or not.
My husband and I applied for this card because...

Pros: Good if you want to feel important Cons: Benefits that dont work, Poor service and a $400 annual fee.
When I was first offered the Platinum Card for $400 per year, I was very excited. I did not know of anyone who had a Platinum Card so I figured it was a big status symbol. There were so many fantastic benefits that it made my head spin. I tried to ...

Pros: Travel service, Insurance offerings built-in & the concierge Cons: Not always the best priced fares through the travel service
Well, I have decided to update my personal account of the Amex Platinum card. I have been a member now since 2004. It was originally opened in the United Kingdom, but I have moved to New York now, so the account is not registered in the USA. As such, I ...

Pros: Perks, perks, perks, rewards Cons: High (!!) annual fee
A lot has been written about the advertised benefits of the American Express Platinum Card, however, I have found some of the unadvertised benefits just as exciting. As a semi-stay-at-home mom, I still get my money's worth from this card. ...

Pros: Airport Club Access, Concierge (when competent) Cons: Snooty customer service, high annual fee (raised to $395), and basically everything else.
I have had The Platinum Card from AMEX for 4 years now, and I can honestly say that it has lost its appeal in practically every way. Now that they have increased the annual fee to $395 I will surely downgrade to the gold card simply to retain my 180,000...

Pros: Lounge Access, Companion Tickets, Consumer Protections, Gold Card Events, MR points, Hotel benefits Cons: Annual Fee, Agents sometimes not as knowledgeable as they should be
As someone who has worked in the credit card industry (not for AMEX) I can tell you that despite its hefty $450 annual fee the benefits of the American Express Platinum card are unparalleled. The key is knowing all the benefits that the card ...

Pros: Great One-step update capability from Quicken, Great rewards program. Cons: High annual fee, rewards can be tricky
The annual fee for this card is around 350 dollars. For both of our cards, we pay close to 500 dollars.
My husband loves the ACCESS TO WORLDPERKS LOUNGES for Northwest Airlines. When the company won't pay business class fares, he can still...

Pros: Concierge; Traveller Benefits; Membership Rewards; Prestige. Cons: Customer Service Can Sometimes Be Questionable.
Introduction:
If you had read this review previously you would know that I had an American Express Green Charge from December 2000-01, enjoying excellent Customer Service - no charge was ever referred/declined in the UK or on vacation. I was...

Pros: Exceptional benefits Cons: $300 annual fee
I upgraded to Platinum when my job required extensive travel and presentations. The Platinum Travel and Concierge handled almost all of my arrangements, including my meeting rooms, with just a toll-free phone call. The level of service is truly...

Pros: Unbelievable benefits Cons: None, if you can afford the annual fee
This happened to a friend of ours who has an American Express Platinum card.
He and his wife were visiting family on the opposite coast from where they live when he had a very serious stroke. He was hospitalized for a month before he could...

Pros: Not Much - 2 airline clubs(NWA and Continental) Cons: 300 bucks a year for bad service and lacking extras
Avoid at all costs, get a premium Visa or Mastercard. They are taken at more places, do the same sort of thing, don't charge 300 bucks per year, and give many of the same perks.
I've had some form of AMEX since 99, but their customer service...

Pros: None that come to mind Cons: Exorbitant yearly fees
It started with the Platinum Card's Travel Services Program (PTS), and ended with their exorbitant fees. So, we cancelled ALL of our American Express cards this month.$450 a year in "membership fees" is ridiculous, considering that American...

Pros: Great perks, good value, good service, good billings Cons: None that I can think of
I have been an Amex cardholder for 11 years and a Platinum cardholder for the last four. Prior to having the Platinum card, I was a Gold card holder. There is no real point to holding the Gold card over a regular green card, however the Platinum card...
