Good Benefits, Especially 1% Back

by char_v , Jul 30 '06
Pros: 1% back on all purchases and other perks, no annual fee, good customer service
Cons: USBank website downloadable transaction data does not include the transaction date.
I've been a member of REI, the member-owned outdoor equipment retailer coop, for decades and applied for the REI VISA credit card when it first offered the 1% rebate on all charges to the credit card. We now have the REI VISA Gold card, which offers more ...

REI Visa by US Bank

by wakiz , Jul 31 '05
Pros: 1% flat rate rebate
Cons: None
I have had a REI Visa from US Bank for about 16 months now and have nothing but good things to say about it. American Express had denied me a Blue Cash card, so I decided to apply for a REI Visa instead. My application was approved and I received the ...

Nearly perfect Visa card = 1% cash back, no annual fee, full REI patronage refund

by jsquarejj Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Apr 10 '02
Pros: 1% cash back on all purchases, no annual fee, full REI patronage refund.
Cons: The same as all credit cards.
Bank of America stopped sponsoring the REI Visa card in February, 2002. Fortunately, this truly great card--with all its money-saving features intact--was picked up by another popular bank. For complete details, please click through to ...

REI Visa - the best "cashback" card... for most

by jermanis , May 21 '01
Pros: Earns 1% from first dollar; widely accepted.
Cons: Requires REI membership; AmEx has better plan for heavy users
For people that prefer cash rewards (as opposed to "miles" or "points"), the REI Visa card might be the best option. It is superior to Discover card, and superior to AmEx cash rebate cards (unless you charge well over $10,000 per year).

Replace your credit cards with this one

by MediaLabGuy , Apr 23 '00
Pros: 1% cash back rebate, Gold card doubles your warranties
Cons: No online access to your account
Bottom line: Relatively low interest rate, 1% cash back, and superb customer service makes this card a winner.

Offered by Bank of America, REI's visa card gives you discounts on stuff from REI's numerous outdoor/adventure stores all over...

The most beautiful credit card I own.

by k2outside , Dec 03 '00
Pros: Free stuff at REI and value accumulates immediately via a direct 1% formula.
Cons: At REI itself, you don't get the 1% back!
This card is PERFECT. What is not to love? I have loved REI since I first became aware of the store. If you don't know what REI is, check out www.rei.com It is an outdoor store for serious outdoor folks. You'll find no golf cleats or basketballs,...

From an REI Employee

by workin4rei , Feb 08 '01
Pros: 1% Rebate on all purchases! Full 10% patronage refund on most REI purchases.
Cons: What cons? I'm a biased REI Employee! :-)
After reading K2Outside's excellent epinion on the REI bankcard, I felt the need to clarify a point. It's true that you don't earn an additional 1% on your REI purchases but...one of the main benefits of using the REI bankcard AT REI is the fact that you...

REI Card is a Winner

by moondog , Mar 10 '00
Pros: cash back, no annual fee, store discount
Cons: late fees, no web site, impersonal service
Even though I am neither a big fan of BofA nor a sportsman, I have to admit that the REI credit card is great. It only cost $15 to get it because you have to be an REI member, and after that, they pay you to use the card. The 1% cash back is better...

UPDATE: Where to get the REI VISA card!

by jcjewell , Jan 22 '02
Pros: Everything sounds great, but...
Cons: ...it's no longer available!
FLASH! -- I had written in the past that it was no longer possible to get an REI VISA card, but I must stand corrected. I followed up with REI directly and found that although Bank of America is no longer underwriting the card and issuing new accounts,...

Excellent Service

by diandy , Oct 03 '00
Pros: Excellent service, cash back, good rates
Cons: None
We have really appreciated the excellent service we have received in connection with this card. When we were travelling in Africa & Europe, the company called our home to check on the odd charges coming through, often from a different country every...

Earn free REI merchandise (or cash) w/ no fee

by AnneS , Jan 23 '00
Pros: No fees, 1% dividend on purchases
Cons: n/a
Ever since I got this Visa card from REI I have basically thrown all of my other cards away. The great thing about this card is that it has no annual fee but allows you to earn a 1% dividend bonus on everything you buy. This dividend is redeemable for...

The Only Card You Need

by AccessDenied , Jun 13 '00
Pros: Rebate
Cons: None
This is a no-brainer. No annual fee, more-or-less reasonable interest rate (I don't run a balance, so it's immaterial to me), it's accepted basically everywhere, and you get 1% back on everything you buy (no weird tiered deal, where you have to spend a...

1% cash back from Mastercard/Visa!

by beskeptical , May 12 '01
Pros: 1% cash back or REI store credit
Cons: cash rebate available 6 months after year end, no E-bill support
The REI card is actually now serviced by US Bank. Bank of America sold their REI credit card customers to US Bank a couple of years ago.

1% cash back
In the last two years a lot has changed in terms of what other credit cards...

Bank of America customer service liars

by garden00 , May 25 '05
Pros: None
Cons: Customer service reps are liars and rude.
I have used many credit cards in my life. I have an excellent credit rating and virtually no debt. I obtained a Bank of America Platinum card about 4 months ago. I've only had this card for a short time. This month I went on-line to make a payment. ...

Didn't get the rebate

by tanders6 , Jun 19 '02
Pros: None
Cons: Didn't get cash back
After reading the epinion reviews on credit cards, I applied for and received an REI Visa card.

Unfortunately, the card has been sold and it is now a Mastercard. I found out when my Visa no longer worked! I never received a notice that my...
