Pros: Good mileage program, automatic payment Cons: Annual fee, no online account access
Given that I live in Minnesota (the Twin Cities are a Northwest hub), have already accumulated some Northwest frequent Flyer miles and charge a fair bit, it was only natural that I consider the Northwest Worldperks Visa.
Pros: Good customer service, good for earning Widely accepted, Northwest miles, good automatic payment plan Cons: High annual fee, no other special bonuses on Northwest, more...
The WorldPerks Visa was my first major credit card. I applied for it because my parents have WorldPerks Visa cards, and I fly quite a bit on Northwest.
Cons
Now that I've had a couple of years to look around, though, I'm relatively...
Pros: Valuable bonus for dollars charged Cons: Conventional rate for unpaid balance
This is a good credit card that has very real, usable benefits. For every dollar charged to this card, you get one mile on Northwest Airlines WorldPerks toward a free flight.
At this time it takes 20,000 WP miles to go (Peak Time is 25,000)...
Pros: You're fine until you actually want to redeem your tickets and go somewhere... Cons: If your considering this card, read the review.
My husband and I got this credit card nearly four years ago because he was going to be traveling a decent amount for work. This April we decided to go on a mini-vacation, without the kids, and wanted to redeem our two free tickets he had earned through ...
Pros: Miles add up fast. Cons: Not good if you carry a balance
Yes, The NWA Visa is my first choice in cards, but do note my card gets paid in full every month. If you keep a balance, I'm not sure this is the card for you.
The card has a $50 fee per year. I get that back in airline miles. For every...
Pros: I guess you get airline benefits, but I haven't been able to redeem mine. Cons: billing, collections
the billing service for this credit care is awful! I have had this credit card for a year and a half now, and have had 2 problems with billing. Both times, I received a bill saying that I hadn't made a payment on the previous bill. Both times, I got ...
Pros: No Hidden Fees When Using The Card In Foreign Currency Cons: None
The Northwest World Perks US Bank Visa is an excellent card to have. Northwest Airlines credits your account with one mile for each dollar charged on the card. If you use and don't abuse this card, it can be an excellent tool with which to receive free...
Pros: None Cons: Account Cancellation Fee
Incompetent Customer Service
I called to cancel my U.S Bank NW card. The rep informed me that US Bank will charge $2.50 for generating a bill after the credit card is closed i.e if there is a balance after the card is closed. I asked her what my total balance was so I can pay the ...
Pros: Accurate statements to the penny, fairly good chargeback help when required. Cons: Lousy mileage program due to Northwest's lousy policy with finding seats for Worldperks members!
I have been a worldperks member since 1992. I got a USBANK visa with the one mile per dollar spent program after I opened a new business. I accummulated more than enough miles to take a round trip ticket to literally anywhere in the world. I chose New ...
Pros: Quick responsive service Cons: Business card requires joint responsibility
Miles stored in separate accounts
20,000 maximum credit limit.
This card might be good for an individual card owner, but their business program really stinks. How can you have a joint liability on a business card if you are not an officer or an owner of the company, which means even if you are an employee of a...
Pros: Miles!! What more can I say! They add up quick! Cons: High Interest if you carry a balance.
I have used this card for over 2 years and love it. No problems with customer service or the card. Have received many credit limit increases. Pay your balance ever month though. Rate is high at 19.99%. There is a annual fee. But you can receive a...
Pros: Convenient, but you'll pay fee after fee for it. Cons: There are so many: high fees, low service, incompetence, ....
Watch out for the 3% transaction fee that US Bank collects on all foreign transactions. That's on top of an undocumented and unexplained exchange rate policy you get for using the VISA card, which makes it impossible to compare whether you really are getting a better exchange rate than using cash. And don't try returning an item - another 3% fee!
More fees: when I closed my account I received a summary bill with an extra $2.50 labeled "Account Management Fee". This was their last opportunity to collect a fee and had to call it something.
Pros: Have yet to see one Cons: So far the entire program seems to be a con
I've been trying to book a multicity international flight using my worldperks miles I spend years accumulating.
First I was under the impression that I could do international travel (coach class) with 50,000 miles. Now it appears it will cost between 75,000-100,00 (for coach class).
Second because it is a multicity reservation the website is useless, forcing me to call their reservation operators. This is a complete joke! For the past two days I've been calling, and have been disconnected several times, have sat on hold for over 45 mins waiting for an operator (at which point I hung up) or go through all the trouble to enter all of your travel information, worldperks account #/PW, etc., only to get to a recording that says their busy and to call back later - WTF!?
Once I use these miles I'm dropping this card, it's hardly worth the $90/year fee and the worldperks appears to be useless so NWA has also lost me as a customer. I'm sure there's better milage programs (at least ones you can actually use!). My friend uses United and flys free w/miles all the time.
WORLDPERKS ARE WORSTNONPERKS by fedddup ,Mar 01 '07
Pros: PROS? WHAT PROS? THEY HAVE ACTUAL PILOTS. O.K? Cons: CONS: JUST READ THE REVIEW.
I ENTERED THE WORLDPERKS PROGRAM YEARS AND YEARS AGO AND NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REDEEM THEM. YET I KEEP GETTING OFFERS TO GET A CHARGE CARD - WHY? I HAD OVER 200,000 MILES OF FLYING TIME. YET SHOWS 113,000 WITH ONLY 73,000 REDEEMABLE. THAT PHONY 'WE KNOW YOU HAVE A CHOICE' SPEECH THAT THEY GIVE YOU WHEN LANDING IS A JOKE. WHEN POSSIBLE I WILL JUST FLY WHATEVER AIRLINE OFFERS THE BEST PRICE AND NORTHWORST WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE MY CHOICE. FRUSTRATION AND ANGER IS WHAT I FEEL WHEN TRYING TO GET A REDEEMED FLIGHT. THEY DON'T MAKE FRIENDS WITH THE PROGRAM THEY MAKE ENEMIES.
Ever tried to use the miles? by rickb54 ,Dec 27 '06
Pros: Not a one anymore - Used to be good, but no more. Cons: No flights available. Join an alternative club.
For the past three months we have been trying to use some of our Worldperks miles to get to Africa. We also tried to get a ticket to bring my mother home for the holidays. We also tried to use the miles to get tickets to Hawaii. It appears that Northwest no longer has anything available, and we will be dropping this card and plan like a hot potato. Friends of ours have had huge success with their mileage plan, and in fact booked their tickets to Africa on the first try - and guess who with - the same partners that Northwest, or maybe it should be Northworst, uses.
Perhaps it is time to start a class action against this company. Their plan has turned into a huge joke, and an expensive one too. We have even tried to purchase one ticket and use miles for a companion. My wife also had an agent scream at her for asking what has to be done to be able to redeem miles.
