Pros: easy to qualify Cons: low limits, high interest rates
Prior to last year I had no real credit after obtaining my first credit card I received a pre approval for the Associates Visa Card, I was trying so much to build my credit, I thought this was good to get so I applied and was approved.
Pros: no telemarketing, no annual fee Cons: not many extras
Why I went for this card:
After having established some credit with the Washington Mutual - Associates Bank Secured Credit Card (FYI: I've written a review on that too), I decided to pull out because of the colateral that they were holding...
Pros: Easily attainable Cons: Ridiculously high APR if you go over the limit, bad customer service, high fees
Basically, it all boiled down to getting hooked on the easy application and Associates' "online instant response." This was around the time when I was still a fairly new credit card holder, having a blast applying for credit cards and getting approved...
Pros: No annual fee--thank goodness Cons: very high rate that won't be lowered despite excellent credit history
Wow! I thought I was doing myself a favor when I applied for my first credit card. It just happened to be an Associates Visa, and I was approved. Not having a clue what was going on with it, I used it and used it and used it. When I finally started...
Pros: Easily obtainable by college students Cons: Easily obtainable by college students, poor customer service, poor customer benefits, no website
It was my freshman year at Arizona State University. I was suddenly inundated with credit card offers. Excited by the prospect of having my own credit card for the first time, I decided to go with a VISA from The Associates, mostly because it offered the...
Pros: There are none! Cons: Poor customer service. No buyer protection. Idiots work for their company!
I issued a complaint with Associates when a merchant did not credit my card for $1, 599.00 after I had returned a defective treadmill. I faxed them all the documentation showing that the treadmill had been returned. They said they never got it, so I...
Pros: Provided what they promised, prompt service and support Cons: No online account services other than application information
I haven't had the same experience others have described regarding the Associates Visa card. Yes, the percentage rates are high, but I knew that when I accepted the card. Having destroyed my good credit several years ago, I was looking to rebuild my...
I initially chose to open an account with Associates while I was in college. They didn't seem to mind that I had absolutely NO income and gave me a $2,000 credit limit with no annual fee. This should have been a warning! However, I didn't see the...
Pros: Generous, pleasant, professional Cons: Could benefit from online account access
Like many college freshmen, one of the first things I did from my dorm room computer was apply for a credit card. What I ended up with was a 76 Gasoline MasterCard issued by Associates National Bank.
Pros: it's a credit card. makes a good keychain, snow scraper... Cons: It's a really nasty scam. Ditch It!
This article addresses : EXACTLY why the Associates Visa is a Ditch It! scam (3% cash back) item, HOW MUCH you should expect to pay, and ALL the tips and details that will make or break your credit satisfaction.
Once upon a time I thought I needed more than one credit card...and then more than two and so on and so forth. Unfortunately, that was not the least of my worries. The biggest headache I could possibly receive was soon to be on the way...the Associates...
Pros: Easy to get, but you'll soon find out why... Cons: Everything from customer service to applying extra fees to your account
As in several other epinions, my fiancee Carrie will share her views about the Associates:
My experience with Associates and GTE (same company - they now switched both to Associates), began in College. I started off with the Associates Visa....
Pros: Good service, online bills and payment, great web site, increasing limit Cons: Start off limit kind of low
Being a college student, I do not have a whole lot of credit history, but I do know that the Associates Visa has been a great credit card. What attracted me to Associates was the fact that they have no annual fees, but it was also a bonus hearing that...
Pros: easy to get this card Cons: high interest rates and bad customer service
I got an application in the mail to apply for this card. Having no idea what I was in for. I have very good credit, well established credit I really didn't even need to apply for this card, that makes me mad at myself for doing it. I make all my...
Pros: No annual fee Cons: Everything, they're horrible
This was one of my first cards, carrying a whopping 23 percent interest rate, but no annual fee.
I can't say enough horrible things about this company.
