Pros: Typical Platinum Card Benefits Cons: Took Over the Mall Visa, Took Away the Perks!
My Mall VIP Visa Card has been owned by so many banks that I think of it as the orphan card in my wallet. The idea for a Mall reward card was first conceived of by Bank One. Within months they sold their portfolio to PNC Bank, and, a month or so ago,...

Pros: vacation points, great customer service Cons: slow processing after fraud complaints
I have had the MBNA America Stanford Alumni Platinum Plus card for 6 or so years. What does the Stanford Part have to do with it? Nothing that I can tell. It has the name and logo on it (and some people comment on that), but other than that, it is no...

Pros: generally good for balance transfers Cons: web site authentication security is questionable, customer service inconsistent
MBNA has been generally a good card for me -- but, first let me tell you something about my financial situation. I have enough credit cards and lines to buy a small house here in Southern California (if the seller would accept credit cards), and enough...

Pros: It's Easy to Qualify for one Cons: Interest Rates are not fixed; excessive charges; deceptive practices
MBNA is the largest independent credit card issuer in the world. This company has flooded the marketplace with applications to sign up for one of its credit card products. It's quite easy to get approved for a card from MBNA, and that's why it's the...

Pros: Excellent customer service Cons: Sending access checks among the advertisements with the monthly bill
If envisioning a clear financial future makes you unable to see straight with your MBNA account you can see your finances more clearly. Here's a real eye opener. Use access checks...the most convenient way to exercise your buying power Just write a...

Pros: Quality Service Cons: Poor Rates
I worked for MBNA for over 6 years, and if I still worked there, I could lose my job over this review. I continue to be employed in the credit card industry, having been lured away by an arch rival.
MBNA is a very stodgy institution. They...

Pros: Online Bill Paying Cons: Poor Customer Service, Poor Rates
...::MY EXPERIENCE::... Rarely do I ever use credit cards or finance purchases and with my experience at MBNA only strengthens my reluctance to do so in the future. I did not apply for an MBNA credit card or line of credit. It was just kind of ...

Pros: Lots of great programs -- something for everyone! Awesome customer service. Cons: Expensive penalties, not-so-low interest rate
I’ve been an MBNA Visa cardholder since 1989. MBNA was one of those cards I acquired back in college, when they feverishly targeted students as suckers in hopes of leaching high interest payments from people who could rarely afford their own spending...

Pros: Easy to Get, Good Customer Service, Automatically Reduce Interest Rates (Visa) Cons: Abusive Practices on College Campuses
Type: Visa
Other: University Alumni Association
Credit Limits: MBNA is certainly not afraid to give you a large line of credit. About five years ago, when I was a sophomore at UNH, I decided to apply for my first...

Pros: Many MBNA cards charge only 1% fee on foreign transactions vs 3% by most cards. Cons: The usual: high fees, changing interest rates and credit limit.
Rather than reviewing the usual stuff like interest rates, customer service, etc. I'd like to make the case for a special reason you might want one of MBNAs credit cards. My US Bank REI Visa Gold Card is my main credit card. I use it for all my ...

Pros: reasonable APR, no fees Cons: it's translucent (like that matters); it's MBNA
Is your brain so thin and vacant that people can see through it? Do you have, or have you ever had, a pet rock, or a mood ring, or a talking plastic fish, or any other useless product that you bought because it was a novelty and everyone else was buying...

Pros: Their Web Site Cons: Outrageous Finance Charges,Terrible Customer Service
The name MBNA still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, months after paying this credit card off. Our MBNA Visa credit card was, no contest, the worst we have ever had.
Our original credit card was a Chase Manhattan Visa, but one day we were...

Pros: Easy to get a card Cons: They'll do whatever they can to stick you with a high rate
Just about everyone I know has an MBNA card, most likely because they're so easy to get. However, beware. They will try to mess with you.
I've had mixed experiences with them in the past: none too great, none too terrible, but recently I had...

Pros: Gateway merchandise Cons: Only pays off with high usage
Shortly after I bought my Gateway Computer three years ago, I noticed an ad for the Gateway MasterCard through MBNA. It offered a free card, so no cost to me, and a 12.97% interest rate which is fine since I always pay my balance in full each month....
