Pros: The music while you are on hold is pleasant. Cons: Representatives do not have the correct information and do not follow up.
I have had several bad experiences with Citibank. This is my latest. I wanted to cash out a CD when it matured on 7/8/00 and to have the proceeds mailed to me. It was inconvenience to go to the branch.
On 6/7/00 I called Citiphone and was...

Pros: Good customer service Cons: Very large institution.
I have found that this bank is very good in areas of customer service. They were the first institution to issue me a credit card, upon my re-entry into the realm of higher education. They have never been presure salespersons, and have always had the...

Pros: So huge they won't be going kaput soon (unfortunately) Cons: You name it, it was bad or worse.
The worst service ever. Our old local bank was taken over by Citibank years ago and we thought why not stay with them and give them a shot? They had our savings, checking, and several investment and retirement accounts. Our life savings. Plus a ...

Pros: Everything about it. Cons: Need more branches in the area
I searched and searched for a new bank here in the Washington DC area, and can honestly say that Citibank has the best deal out of all of them.
Their online banking product alone is worth the $1500 minimum that the bank requires to escape...

Pros: branches everywhere, good for most budgets Cons: where, oh where, is the customer service?
Citibank is a very mixed experience. On the plus side, they have branches and ATMs everywhere, saturday hours, decent online banking options (although their are problems with their login screen) and have fee structures that fit most lifestyles. On the...

Pros: none Cons: lousy customer service
I tried to open a simple checking account with Citibank. It was the largest hassle I ever stepped into. First the online application was approved. Then I had to fax in a form, which they lost. Then they sent a "welcome kit" to my house, with separate ...

Pros: CONVENIENT LOCATION Cons: EAB TO CITIBANK TRANSFER WAS TORTURE, CUSTOMER SERVICE WENT DOWN THE TUBE.
I HAVE BEEN AN EAB CUSTOMER FOR 12 YEARS. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM UNTIL CITIBANK TOOK OVER. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY ANY CHECKING FEES BECAUSE MY SAVINGS BALANCE WAS WELL OVER THE MINIMUM REQUIRED TO OBTAIN FREE CHECKING. THEY...

Pros: Many locations throughout US and worldwide. Cons: Misleading practices of bank representatives.
Why would one want a banker that lies to a customer's face in order to open a "better" account that will incure monthly service charges, while it was promised to be free? It happened in my case. They also had an on-going promotion for 10,000 bonus TY ...

Pros: THe customer service reps were all very nice people Cons: The reps just couldn't/wouldn't do what I requested.
I too had a negative experience with the customer service department (letters from "S. Larson" and six reps) over the course of almost three months. All I wanted was a letter verifying what they told me over the ...

Pros: Don't remember, but something must have influenced my decision to use Citi. Cons: See above.
I wanted to close my account a year ago when taking out funds for a house purchase. The representative convinced me to leave it open (a mistake) in case I needed to use the account in the future. No mention was made of the minimum balance ...

Poor Customer Service
by bluecow829 ,Oct 08 '03
Pros: I opened 1st national account, got sold to CalFed then Citibank in less than 1yr. Cons: No one care about helping customer from customer service, branch managers, to even area manager.
Citibank required me to deposit any casher's check over $10,000 in their local branch. However, the local branch lost my deposit. I called to the customer service; they claim it is not their problem because it is the branch that lost my deposit. When I call the San Leandro branch manager, Michelle, she said that she don't have to power to correct my account. I call the area manager, Mike Hamilton; all I get is a answer machine. After leaving a detailed message, he never called me back. When I asked around, no one knows where he is.
