Pros: Stellar customer service and your own "personal banker" Cons: Fewer locations
After a nightmarish year with WellsFargo (see my epinion about it), I started asking friends and acquaintances for suggestions on where I should do my banking.

The reality of banking with smaller banks

Pros: Very friendly customer focused service Cons: Narrow customer vision by upper management
While it is true that FR has great personal customer service, they are not too open minded to venture to foreign lands outside of California. So, if you do business with them, it's best to be in a state 'they' do business in. Conservative is great, fine and all that but narrow vision is not. Service for me at FR has always been exceptional and their website is very good.
I suppose there would be the same bad taste with any bank that closed out customers just because they did not fit the 'norm'. But, hey, I thought that's what boutique banks were all about? Maybe FR forgot that!
