Pros: A bank seems like a good place to keep your money Cons: Boy, the really want to KEEP your money
This may take a marriage counselor to resolve. I paid money to talk to a woman other than my wife. I felt I had to. I needed to hear what this woman had to say. Why would I do something so costly, you ask? Because I was blissfully unaware of the...

Pros: friendly staff Cons: could have better hours, but they are a bank after all!
I've read through the other opinions and realize that everyone has different opinions based upon their own experiences. I would never try to say that those that have had problems with Firstar bank were wrong. But I would like to give you my point of...

Pros: Close to home Cons: Customer Service
I chose to use Firstar as my bank for the simple reason that they were close to home, and I have my home mortgage there. At that time they went by the name Mercantile. With the change of name, also went the service.
So far we...

Pros: Huge bank with lots of branches and ATMs (convenient) Cons: Terrible customer service; too many fees; small selection of account types; quality has gone way downhill
My very first savings account, opened when I was 12 years old, was at Firstar (back then it was First Wisconsin). I loved my bank and stayed with them for over 15 years... Then, over the last 5 years or so, Firstar merged with /bought out/ was bought...

Pros: fees, unfriendliness Cons: nothing
I did not bank at Firstar by choice. I had banked at a small, locally owed bank that was unfortunately bought out by Star Bank, then by Firstar. The changes have been enormous.
First, gone is the friendly service. At the old bank, they...

Pros: - Cons: annoying
If you are looking for a bank that changes its mailing address frequently without informing its customers, who does not post deposits, calls you at all hours but can't get you a supervisor and seems to have a different answer to the same question no...

Pros: Good Location Cons: Inconsistent Service
Our Bank has changed owners three or four times in the last four years. It is hard to keep up. I surely do miss our old bank. Firstar is the name that hangs on our bank at the present time. I never had any problems with our old bank and they had grown up...

Pros: None. Cons: Empty ATMs, new charges pop up all the time, excessive fees, poor customer service!
I have had a checking account with Firstar for 3 years and it just keeps going downhill! I can't take it anymore, I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt and putting up with stupid errors and incompetent tellers but I am throwing in the towel. I have...

Pros: Many ATM's throughout my city, variety of checking and savings accounts. Cons: The service, the employees, the way to often "SERVICE FEE".
First off let me be upfront about a bank that has no care in the world for its customers! The Customer Service Representatives this bank hires MUST be born and breed just to be with the worst attitudes!
Let me tell you their options:

Pros: Customer service IS first, and it shows. Cons: You pay for all those helpful smiles with the relatively high fees.
I've had my FirStar account for nearly ten years now, though I didn't use it much until the last four years (due to lack of money to put in it :).
Over those years I have found the service, at least in my town, to be top rate, excellent......

Pros: Loan application process was easy Cons: Terrible service, didn't know what they were doing
Our first and last experience with Firstar Bank was when we got our construction loan to build our current house back in 1993. The loan/approval process was the easiest part of this entire transaction.
After our construction was complete...

Pros: nationwide banking Cons: impersonal, expensive, poor customer service
I agree wholeheartedly with the opinion of foster. I opened a checking account with Firstar when I moved to Wisconsin, and for the first few years of having my account, I was pleased with their service and felt satisfied with my account. I felt I was...

Pros: Good, as long as I stick to the branch at work, ATMs are abundant. Cons: Go anywhere else, and you may have problems.
I switched to Firstar because they have a branch in my office building. Now, I admit, I work for a large, well known company, and the highers up like to be treated like kings. So if you're going to place a bank branch in the building (behind security,...

Pros: Cheap student checking accounts Cons: Poor customer service, lots of hidden fees
I went to Star Bank (back then anyway) to open a student checking account a few years back. It's nice to have the account without all the high fees other banks (Bank One) like to charge. However, they have found hidden ways to make up for the low...

Pros: the stickers in the drive-thru for my kids. Cons: mergers, double talk, rules that keep changing
I think I have had my fill of bank mergers! We currently bank at Firstar, and have been customers for over 3 years. Through these three years we have had a money market account, two checking accounts, two auto loans and currently one home equity loan....
