BillPoint - Lost My Money And Didn't Enjoy The Process

by dkozin Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Feb 22 '02
Pros: Integration with eBay
Cons: No chargeback protection means you can get screwed, high fees, site difficult to navigate
I am enraged today. Even the fact that I have closed my BillPoint account does not provide me any reason to be less angry.

Have you ever heard of chargebacks? These are the eBay sellers’ worst nightmares, if they use...

DON'T BOTHER!

by chinacatjulie , Dec 28 '01
Pros: ebay
Cons: customer service, charges, billbacks
I am disgusted with BillPoint and will be leaving as soon as I get my payment. The e-bay auction ended 2 weeks ago. I received an email stating that I would see payment in my checking account within a couple days.
Immediately, I sent...

Billpoint Allows Fraud

by ico-jones , Dec 23 '01
Pros: None that I can think of
Cons: System allows buyers to commit fraud 100% of the time -- Fees high
Billpoint is a service (run by EBay and national bank Wells Fargo) that lets regular people accept credit card payments over the Internet. It is especially useful for receiving payment for online auctions. The service is free for the person who sends...

you have money to throw away? then use billpoint!

by debsfunstuff , Dec 18 '01
Pros: none
Cons: ebay automatically places check marks next to service, poor customer service, chargebacks,
Use billpoint only if you want to waste your money, that is my opinion. I didn’t realize ebay started automatically putting a check mark next to billpoint's online payment service. I never accepted billpoint before and never will again.out of 3...

Refunding buyers error is a joke with Billpoint

by nursenemt2be , Nov 24 '01
Pros: It's free to buyers
Cons: Takes a long time to deposit funds, unorganized, customer service - not good.
When I first started using Billpoint I had one problem after the other. My customers couldn't put in their shipping amounts, since this was different for each customer.

It took forever for deposits to be made to my account.

Billpoint The Auction Bully

by pj_the_pug , Nov 22 '01
Pros: Conveniently bundled with Ebay
Cons: Bully tactics to wipe out competition
As an avid user of Ebay, I have used Billpoint many times. I find it convenient to use as it is bundled with Ebay and provides your bidder fast access to "checkout" and pay for their auctions with a credit card or online check. However the downfall to...

Took my money and ran

by mysticme , Nov 19 '01
Pros: Ebay backing
Cons: bad service and No phone number to contact with
In Oct. I won an auction and I paid through Billpoint. I always pay whichever method the seller wants. The seller let me know that she had been paid. I noticed on my checking account that a payment was made to Billpoint on 10/18/01. On 11/15/01 I...

'Billpoint are a Donkey's Bottom...'

by spacepenguin , Oct 24 '01
Pros: quick when it works
Cons: Usually it doesn't
Having been introduced to BillPoint via Ebay, I was initially impressed with it's apparently secure and immediate system of payment. On further introduction however, I now feel compelled to advise prospective users against it.
I have only...

Beware of BillPoint

by schneido , Oct 18 '01
Pros: Seemed good at first.
Cons: Chargeback ripoff. They blatantly lied to me in email and on the telephone.
They blatantly lied to me in email and on the telephone.

After sending me a letter informing me I was going to have a chargeback because the person paid twice. This was over 3 months after the end of the auction.

I faxed them proof...

by lv2hot19 , Aug 22 '01
Pros: Absolutely NOTHING!
Cons: Poor customer service & Everything else!
I recently opened an account with Billpoint approximately 3 weeks ago hoping that I had found an alternative to PAYPAL. I just started selling things on EBay and was looking for a slightly more convenient way to get my money besides PAYPAL and boy was I...

Pros: It will allow you to use echeck as well as credit cards
Cons: Their customer service is atrocious! They have no phone number.
I have used this service 3 times. 2 out of those 3 times I had awful experiences. They have no phone number for customer service! I finally obtained a number using Alexa, but when you call you have to leave a message and hope someone will get back to...

What was I paying for?

by jloveguy , Jul 02 '01
Pros: None
Cons: When Billpoint takes several days to process a deposit, what do they do?
In April 2001, I sold a Playstation 2 unit on EBay. I was foolish enough to use Billpoint, thinking that I would have a better chance to sell it if I allowed the buyers to pay with a chargecard. A buyer bought the Playstation and asked that I ship it...

by treadwaytom , Jun 26 '01
Pros: Did not require buyer to register
Cons: Changed the rules in the middle of the game
I signed up for BillPoint a couple of months ago and used their service four times. My transaction limit when I signed up was $500. The last time that I tried to send a BillPoint invoice for $470 I got an error message rejecting my invoice. It seems...
