The service department of paypal makes the local DMV look friendly and well organized. I have tried for an hour now to fix a simple PW problem. I am writing this nasty note, and moving on. It would be less work to get a money order, and postage, than to deal with these bozos. No offense to the clowns. They are hyper-secure about trivial stuff, and loose about more important things.

Ok, i'll keep this short and simple.

Paypal is not a bank, it is a profit making company, which does not protect either sellers or buyers.

It is just a place for fraudsters to make money,
stay well away and don't keep your bank details on there.

You're taking a serious risk with paypal.

One tip: if you really want to know why, read their Terms and conditions of use.
Which is lenghty and confusing - just the way they'd like it to be and sacrifices your credit card rights and protection.

Cons: flaws in thier software allows intrusion by scammer to get you name.

Their dispute resolution and user agreement terms are not good at all. I myself have lost money but the last time it was $275.00 and the item they had me send back that was fraud so I can add another $15.00 to that. I closed both my ebay and paypal account.

I recently purchase something on ebay and I used paypal to make my payment. I received the item and it was totally the opposite of what was described in the listing. So I open a dispute to get my money back. PAYPAL would not help me get my money back. So the seller ended up keeping my money and I was pretty much screwed by the seller and Paypal.I will never use them again, because they are no help to buyers. Sellers who screw buyers over will always win in this kind of situation. As a buyer I want to feel protected by fraudulent sellers and this case your not. Just remember if you receive something that wasn't how it was described,PAYPAL will not try to help get your money back for you! The will just close the case!

Cons: Customer Service is awful, Paypal uses stall tactics on claims, FEES CAN BE HIGH

paypalsucks (dot) com, Paypal sucks (dot) org, Paypalpetition (dot) com the list goes on & on. It works fine they do take their share of fees with hidden fees such as labeling fees when you pay and print on your computer a shipping label on your printer.

I listed most of my problem(s) on the Ebay review board.

I recommend Paypal only because there's really no other online payment game out there.

They purposely timeout their clients after a couple minutes of inactivity when you're typing a claim or a dispute.

They claim they'll pay up to two claims per calendar year, but they rarely payout a claim.

Quite a few Ebay & Paypal phishing e-mails to your e-mail box and if you try to forward them to spoof@ebay.com they'll not go through because they're viruses inside the phished e-mails.

Pros: Eliminates the need to give our your credit card information on the net.
Cons: I really don't see any cons.

I am only commenting on the use of the Paypal Plug In to shop on the internet. In short, it is a great item and does a great deal to enhance the security of the user.

Pros: Most people accept it.

Paypal payment hold sucks.  Website is misleading.  First, without warning, they put a Payment Hold on payments I’ve received.  WHAT?  Neither they nor e-bay said they’d do this before I took the payment.  

PayPal’s website says "money will be released sooner when we confirm item is delivered."   Item was delivered 12 hours ago, but no release.  So I called customer service, they said "no, we won't release funds until 4 days ***after*** item shows as delivered!"  What?????????????

Totally misleading site.  PayPal is essentially stealing my money by not letting me have access to it for “up to 21 days,” misleading people on when money will be made available, and making it completely impractical to use.  

When I can't count on payments being received in a timely and predictable fashion it means I cannot use the service reliably for business.  

With the fees they are charging they should be providing much better and clearer service.  

As it is, I am done w/Paypal and will not allow my buyers to use this option.  Shame on PayPal.  Hope they go out of business immediately.

I have been scammed by paypal itself..i am a new seller in ebay..i sold something without knowing I already sold out the item...so I contacted the buyer and explain the situation..and I returned the whole amount through paypal..next thing i know ..paypal put a limited access on my account..i provided all the paper they asked from me to prove that it wasnt a scam..still they didnt lift the limitation from my account.. they like to hold rest of my own money for 3 months..I just dont understand if they dont lift my access from my account..and wont let me close my account...wouldnt let me do anything with my own money...and top of that holding my money for 3 months for no reason without paying me any interest..how can i fight this corporate scammer?.watch out people before you open an account with this scammer..hold on to your money...they will just eat up your money...

I have used PAYPAL, for the most part without any problems.
Actually I liked using it. This past December a payment to the Seller was lost. My visa was charged and I never received the product because the seller either never received the money or some other accounting problem.
I notified Paypal and Ebay and they reset my item to not paid. Even though Visa charged my account.
So then I filed a complaint with my Visa Company.
The long or short of it is; watch your money. Company accounting systems can have reconciliation problems.
