Pros: Personalized service; Ethical reputation; Reasonable fees; Thousands of locations Cons: None that I can think of
Brokerage services and brokerage advertisements are plentiful in the United States and other countries, with dozens and dozens to choose from. Most people will agree that offers to open brokerage accounts or to transfer money from an existing investment ...

Pros: Tailored for solid, stable investment growth. Cons: Look elsewhere if you're interested in "the newest thing."
I started a mutual fund at the local Edward Jones a couple of years ago. Now, you have to keep in mind that I'm a reporter by trade and, as such, am so poor that I should be called, simply, "po'." Still, I worry about retirement like everyone else, and...

Pros: Face-to-face interaction, local offices everywhere, individualized service, solid reputation. Cons: High fees, quality of service highly dependent on skill and experience of local staff
Ultimately, all my investments will be held at an Edward Jones branch. That doesn't mean that they'll all start there. But if you understand how this wonderful little brokerage house works, you'll see that it has a very special place in the financial ...

Pros: Personal service, helpful, easy to work with Cons: might be a bit more expensive than others
There a lot of people willing to handle your money. And there a lot of people who don't want anyone to help them. I was one of those people. And then I actually needed a broker. I needed to do a stock transfer and a friend of mine recommended I use...

Pros: Great Service, Friendly Staff Cons: None
When I was 15 my father suggested that I use the cash in my savings to start investing in the stock market. At the time I had a whopping $1500 just rotting away in the bank. So I decided that it couldn't be a bad idea. After all you always hear...

Pros: Lots of attention, information, etc. Cons: transaction/broker fees, limited online services
Why in the world did I end up messing with an investment service?
Towards the end of my senior year of high school, I was looking to begin an investment for my retirement, since I no longer have faith in something being provided for me. I...

Pros: Experience may be worth if you really value face-time. Cons: More about sales pitches than financial advice. High fees are not justified.
Our experience with an Edward Jones representative was disastrous. First and foremost, I would agree with comments already made that my main issue with this agent was that he was not a Certified Financial Planner, and instead a salesperson, ...

Pros: None, unless you wish to pay a broker for what you could do yourself. Cons: Load funds recommended over less expensive investment alternatives. Brokers are salespersons vs advisors.
I brought a 120k lump-sum to an Edward Jones broker who insisted the funds I was purchasing were less expensive than buying no-load funds. At the time, I wasn't comfortable buying funds on my own, (although I'd purchased no-load funds for my IRA for 12 ...

Pros: Ethical, responsible, very high quality. Great industry recognitions. Cons: Not for the "wannabe" day trader. They handle your serious money prudently.
Edward Jones is by far the most upfront, honest and ethical investment firm and has been recognized as such by the many awards they received in 2005 (#1 2005 JD Power & Assoc Customer Satisfaction, #1 Brokerage by SmartMoney in their 2005 review of all ...

Pros: Friendly, detailed oriented (to an extent), well mannered. Give good presentation. Cons: You pay upfront for your investments, Fail to notify you on bad investments, Unethical, con-men
This company is the absolute worse. Anytime you have someone making an investment for you that takes there funds upfront out of your money there ought to be a warning sign. My wife worked with a company for a while and left them and rolled her ...

Pros: My account rep was a nice guy. Cons: High commissions, fees; mutual funds paying them kickbacks are what they try to sell you.
You know that professional looking Consolidated 1099 Tax Statement you get in the mail at year end from your brokerage firm? You use this Statement to calculate your taxes for the year. You probably have faithful confidence that all those figures for ...

Pros: Good return rates on long term investments Cons: Not "hip" on current IPO's or short term gains
Edward D Jones is not your run of the mill investment groups. They pride themselves on being a sound future investment company that deals with long term low risk investments for the modern day strategic investor.
I have had on and off...

Pros: Excellent, within their limits. Cons: Go elsewhere for online trades or low comissions.
An excellent, very positive experience dealing with them, and this is an entirely positive recommendataion. Nonetheless, I would not personally use them again because they don't fit my personal needs.
I made the mistake of opening an account...

Pros: A sound conservative financial company with outstanding individual attention and service Cons: Higher costs than discount brokers for purchases
I wish I had found Edward Jones much earlier than I did! My husband and I were with another financial company (American Express) and had a very negative experience. When we finally woke up, we were thousands and thousands lost in spite of a record ...

Pros: Friendly, honest, fantastic service & they really take an interest in me Cons: Not the cheapest if you want to actively trade stocks.
I think this firm is a great brokerage. My adviser is very friendly and acts with my best interests in mind. I love that it is a full service brokerage and helps me with several different aspects of my personal finances. However, I also like that they ...
