Pros: quick transactions Cons: high commission costs
I have used Charles Schwab's online investing service for a couple of years. They are known not to be the cheapest so I was careful during the following transaction: I wanted to by an OTC stock which had to be done by phone. I called and spoke...

Pros: High level of confidence...Good service...Convenient Cons: High cost - $29.95 per trade
I am pretty new to online trading, but I have accounts with two brokerages: E*Trade and Charles Schwab.
FIRST SCHWAB...I found that trades were executed quickly and easily. I was able to get telephone assistance quickly and easily, too....

Pros: You are in charge of your assets & your money Cons: The 800 #; it's as bad as all of these things.
I opened my first Broker's account in 1967; I've not a clue whether Chuck was even out of college back then or whether there was a Charles Schwab company. I was twenty-eight, married with children, a cat, and debt to pay off my college loans. I had ...

Pros: A name you know and trust Cons: Three times as expensive as competitors Datek and Scottrade
...figure out what you pay each year in commissions rather than what you pay per transaction...
By the time you sell a stock through Schwab, you've spent $59.90 on commissions to buy and sell, and for what?...

Pros: Online or phone trades available Cons: Can take 20-30 minutes or more to execute a trade
I started trading with Schwab about 10-15 years ago, due to their reputation for fast, responsive service, and their low prices at the time. Just as market experts warn against investment drift, where letting your investment style...

Pros: web interface, local offices, good service Cons: Account management fees are too expensive. See update.
Though a little more pricey than the discount online brokers, Schwab delivers competent, solid service with no worries.
I chose to work with Charles Schwab because of their reputation - I wanted to make sure that the trading would be well...

Pros: service, cost, and flexibility Cons: $30.00 per trade is a bit high
I have accounts with Schwab, E-Trade, Putnam and Smith Barney and of all of these Schwab is far and away the best broker. The reasons are simple service, cost, and flexibility.
Service
E-Trade does offer good (fair) telephone...

Pros: Great service, wide array of products Cons: Fairly high commissions
I’ve had one brokerage account at Schwab since 1994. When I opened up that account, they didn’t even offer Web access; Schwab was at the cutting edge by allowing their customers to access their accounts through Schwab’s software. It didn’t really...

Pros: Excellent Research & Planning Tools, Responsive, Intuitive Cons: Can't think of any
Note: I only invest through a 401K, so this review does not cover cost of trading, only site functionality.
That said, Schwab is an excellent site. It is intuitive, has excellent tools for both research and planning, and it keeps you on top...

Pros: Great service, big and secure Cons: not the cheapest for frequent traders
Sure, I could drive a $9,000 econobox, but I choose to spend a bit more and ride in comfort. Same with my broker: Schwab is not the cheapest.
When it comes to my brokerage, while I don't want to pay too much, my first priority is good service....

Pros: Excellent service, dependable, many services Cons: Not for very small portfolios
I've been a Schwab customer for almost twenty years. That's saying something in and of itself. Starting with a walk-in office in Silicon Valley, my self-directed investment efforts initially provided the down payment on my first house (MCIC was great...

Pros: Great service, low fees, customer orientation Cons: Lacks a research team
Charles Schwab is a great place for the small, medium, and large investor-but you have to pick the right service. Don't expect to get advice talking to a sales agent on the telephone. That's not their job, which is why I disagree with a former...

Pros: ease of use, good advice Cons: a bit pricey
Schwab would be my pick for best overall online trading companies. Their web site is very informative and has accurate advice. It is very easy to trade with their site but the price for trading could be lowered. Nevertheless this site is much better...

Pros: Easy to use, easy to learn, even for new investors Cons: Price of trade not as "low" as other trading sites
I have been using Schwab for over 1 year now to do my online trading.
It is a easy site to navigate. It really is self explanatory. New users should be able to use this without difficulty.
I have to say that I really wish they...

Pros: Great offline Service Cons: Pricey
I've been online trading with Schwab for over a year. I was initially drawn to Schwab because they have a branch office 15 minutes from my house. I like the idea of being able to go talk to a person if something goes wrong.
I did go see...
