Pros: They are better than many other insurance companies. Cons: Service like this at any price is not worth the money.
Hi there, Schlamozzel here with a review that truly breaks my heart to have to write. This has very little to do with Slumlord Brand (TM) business. But there is a connection here I'll elaborate upon later. The Questions (Note: ...
Pros: Incredible service, cheaper rates than others. Friendly staff that check up on you. Cons: Only one, no 6 month coverage, only yearly but who cares, go yearly.
Well, the only way to test an Insurance company is to test them. How do you test them? Well, unfortunately it's when you become the victim of misfortune. I became a victim but in the end, after it was all said and done, I was the winner again.

Pros: None...not customer driven anymore! Cons: They try to get the maximum premium anyway they can.
We have cancelled all our policies with AMICA due to deceptive practices on their part.
We have had AMICA for Auto, Homeowners, and term life insurance for over 25 years and were pleased with their service and rates up until 3 years ago. ...
Pros: spectacular customer service, super-fast claims processing, never dropped for any reason Cons: none
I don't know if I have much to add to the already glowing opinions of Amica but I want to cast my vote and at least add to the positive view. It would be really interesting to see or read someone with any 'negative' views on Amica. Personally, I don't...
Pros: Easy to work with, Dividends, Fast turn-around Cons: none
I have been a customer of Amica nearly seven years now, since I first was licensed to drive, and was insured under my parents' policy. Since then I have had the unfortunate opportunity to place several claims with them, all of which were handled in a...
Pros: Great customer service, prompt claims assistance Cons: None
Back in 1990, a friend recommended that I consider Amica for automobile insurance. At first, I was skeptical because I had never heard of the company, but in my search for quality coverage, I knew it would be worthwhile to check it out. I was...
Pros: Excellent customer service. Very personable. Access to account info via online interface. Excellent prices. Cons: None.
While searching for new insurance, I visited youdecide.com. I entered my information and within a couple of days, they returned quotes from a few insurance companies -- many of whom I had heard of before, but I had never heard of Amica.
I never have been turned down for insurance in my life, till now. The story starts:
Some friends of ours who had been in 3 bad accidents changed from State Farm (who applied Allstate like tactics about soft-tissue damage and proceeded to...
Pros: Helpful on the phone.
A selective insurer. Cons: High cost, depending on location.
You may be disappointed with their claims service.
Amica is a high-end "white glove" auto insurer. They are choosy. Apparently, they turn down a lot of folks. One friend even told me that he couldn't get Amica because he doesn't park his car in a garage, but on the street. No doubt about it. They ...
Pros: Low cost, friendly people, great Web site interface Cons: None yet
I was with Allstate for about 27 years (a thing called loyalty) when I changed residences (5 minutes from my previous residence), and was immediately given a $200 increase in premiums for the year due to a different zip code. When I contacted my agent he...
Pros: AMICA is still competitive on rates in most areas. Cons: They seem to be deaf to listening to customers and employees.
30 years ago I read about this company in consumer reports as being top rated. I took them and for many years very satisfied. The 2 accident claims we turned in we had trouble with the independent appraiser AMICA sent out being the lowest appraisal and ...
Four years ago I was referred to AMICA by a family member who said I would save big money on my insurance without sacrificing service. I have since carried AMICA as my sole carrier in NJ, NY and most recently CA. The rates were competitive in NJ,...
I was tired and fed up with poor service and high insurance rates for my automobile. After an extensive search I located AMICA and received a quote which was over 50% less than I was currently paying for the same vehicle through one of the...
Pros: Great customer service! Fast claims handling! Cons: In some areas Amica is not the cheapest of insurance
As an Employee and a policyholder, I can say with strong conviction that Amica really is what they stand for. Doing the right thing! I have work for other insurance companies, and I have always had the feeling that everybody was a number, including ...
Pros: Great company, low insurance Cons: Only if you don't have it
I’m only 19, but I have had insurance through Amica since I was 16. Both of my parents have this insurance company and my step-father switched over after he had an accident a few months back and his company was nothing but a pain in the a………anyway, am I...
My husband has always used the Amica Insurance company based out of Lincoln Rhode Island for his homeowners policy. He had one claim several years ago and they handled it extremely quickly and without hassle. We have since added the automobile policy. We...
Pros: Excellent Service, good rates Cons: Not the cheapest in my state
AMICA's wonderful. I've been with them for 13 years, never had another auto or homeowner's insurance company and I work in the industry. However one thing concerns me as an issue to keep an eye on:
Pros: good rates, great service, friendly Cons: hard to get, other than that there are none
I'm a 22 year old male who has been insured with Amica since I was 16. First on my parents policy, and then on my own since I graduated college. Their rates are very competitive. From time to time I have called Geico and Progressive (you know, the...
This is a review of Amica insurance company. I must say, I have never, EVER, been so loyal to any service provider. The service provided by Amica has been nothing short of spectacular. Here is my personal tale of Amica.
Update February 2003: Thought I'd update my review. Bottom line: I STILL LOVE AMICA! Two days after Christmas, my car was broken into and about $600 worth of possessions were stolen. Amica covered the claim very pleasantly and with sympathy for our...
Pros: Fast, reliable, & prompt service Cons: May pay a tad more in a low dividend year
This is my review of AMICA insurance company. I've been insured by amica for my auto's for over 15 years. I have no doubt they are one of the finest insurance company's.
I found them by reading Consumer Reports. They rated them in the top 3...
Knock on wood, I haven't had to actually USE my auto insurance yet..
But I'm absolutely thrilled with AMICA. They have, by far, the lowest rates in the area. Normally, I'd be a bit skeptical about this - you get what you pay for. But in...
Pros: Prompt, personal attention. Cons: For the first year, a little more expensive.
Without question, AMICA outshines the competition in the insurance game. They epitomize the best of customer service and regularly demonstrate how to treat a customer as the most important person. They are not only prompt in response, but they are...
Pros: fast, friendly and fair claims service Cons: none important
If you can qualify (you must have a 3-year clean driving record) and want outstanding service at a reasonable price, you should consider Amica. I have been insured by them for 40 years. In that time, I have taught 5 teenagers to drive - and we have had...
Pros: Supposed to be number one Cons: Selective and nit picky
We've been with Amica for 1 1/2 years for homeowners insurance, we haven't had any claims so I don't know how well they take care of claims. I know they told us we needed to cover our home for 20,000 more then Allstate quoted us for replacement costs....
Pros: none experienced. Cons: pricey when quoted and not willing to accomodate my needs.
I have a small, local insurance company and decided that I should get a bigger one. I have a perfectly clean record with no accidents, tickets, claims, etc. I found out about amica and applied online. applying was easy but dealing with the rude and...
Pros: Great support and great everything Cons: Expensive when I was on my parents policy.
I have looked else where and I just dont feel right switching. I like the online bill payment that not all of the others have. I have been a month late on payments and I still have a policy and I have had three accidents and still have a policy(I try...
I was hit in early july by an under insured motorist--not even to mention the driver didnt even own the car and had a permantly revoked lincense. I reported the accident to Amica and finally 3 days later my lovely ( sarcasm) adjuster calls and ...
Pros: No claims filed, so no feedback warranted. Cons: Customer service was inept, and even downright rude when trying to cancel policy.
I have never been in an accident, no claims, tickets, nothing in my 27 years of driving...my premium last year was comparable with 2 other companies, which where increasing their rates annually despite my crystal clear record. Of course, my new amica ...
Pros: highly recommended by many Cons: being denied for having a clean record.
I recently looked up from a search engine to see who has the best recommendation from the consumers for auto insurance. Amica came up on top. So I decided to get a quote from their website and was very happy with the quote and took the time to call in ...
Pros: supposedly claims go quickly through them (wouldn't know) Cons: incompetent agents, expensive
But in Georgia, they aren't the best. I would know I had insurance with them for one year.
First off, they put my payment to someone else's account. Mistakes happen, but it shouldn't have taken 2 months to resolve the problem.
Secondly, they couldn't offer any discounts for my being a great driver who's driven 10 years without filing any claims, including the one year that I was with them.
And worse, I was going to renew but the agent I spoke with was so absolutely incompetent that she was confused about the different aspects of auto insurance and even made me confused and felt like I was being ripped off.
I went to Progressive and paid $350 less per year.
Pros: Easy to reach an agent. Cons: Expensive. They seem to deceptively increase premiums and don't seem to value their customers.
I have had Amica for over a year and must say that I am disappointed with the service that I have received. I had heard so many reviews about them prior to switching insurance coverage so I decided to go with them. I feel like they are trying to rip me off any chance they get. My premiums keep going up even though I have filed no claims and have had a perfect driving record for the past ten years. One of the rate increases was over $150 for moving less than 5 miles away in a good neighborhood. I think they are too expensive for what I am getting from them. When I have called them before the agent I spoke to didn't seem to care if I stayed with their company or not. Seems like they don't value their customers.
Auto insurance competitive by woodland518 ,Nov 07 '06
Pros: Price
Customer service Cons: Strict underwriting guidelines for homeowners
We bought auto insurance from Amica because the rates were affordable, but primarily because of the discount for carrying homeowners and auto insurance with the same carrier.
We were generally satisfied with the auto insurance, and I really can't write much about it further. We never had any claims, etc.
Pros: Paid them 20,000 over a 10 year period. Never made a claim! Cons: Paid them 20,000 over a 10 year period. Never made a claim!
I was a Amica policyholder for 10 years without a claim (Auto & Homeowners), and my auto rates were raised for late payments. The late payments occured over three years (one late payment each year) one was three days late, second was due to the Anthrax attack at my local PO (Trenton, NJ) and the third was 4 days late. I called and asked them to reconsider due to me being such a good customer. I was refused by a CSR, Manager and General Manager. I now have a new insurance company with better rates. Buyer beware!!!
Pros: Very unpleasant customer service. Cons: Very disrespectful to customers.
The customer service representative I dealt with referred to inexperienced drivers who had prior traffic accident records as "bad apples"! Very disrespectful to the customers.
Pros: Price, Customer Service Cons: None that I've come across
I've had Amica for both my car and house for about 3.5 years now. I found Amica on the Texas Department of Insurance web site. I'd never heard of them before that time. When I switched to Amica my car insurance was with Allstate. I had a new house built and Allstate would not insure my house (I didn't meet their credit worthiness even thought I could have a house built) so I started looking around.
I ended up with Amica who was HANDS DOWN the least expensive car insurance in the state. Over the past 3 years I've comparison shopped from time to time and Amica is still usually 400 - 500 less a year for identical coverages.
I'm also a notorious car shopper being on my 5th car in 5 years. Amica customer service is WONDERFUL about giving my rates on potential vehicles and handling the switches.
Pros: None Cons: Don't value their customers business

Pros: The best service for the best price Cons: nothing-tbd
I was a loyal 20 year client of Allstate. Then I moved to the Great West and was shocked when Allstate raised my rates about $1200 per year. Wow! Anyway- I checked with Amica and they are now saving me about $650 per year from what Allstate quoted. Fortunately, I cant say much about their claims- but from everything I read they are the best. Plus they gave me a discount for my Lo Jack unlike Allstate who doesn't seem to care if my truck would be recovered. I could never understand how a quick recovery of the insured vehicle does not benefit them- Oh well. I guess I will now give Amica my homeowners. They seem to appreciate my business more.
Pros: great if you don't file a claim Cons: Awful customer service, will hike up your rates for no reason.
I don't know how Amica got rated #1 in customer service by J.D. Power and Associates. Yes, they appear to be great until you file a claim with them. I've had auto and home insurance for over 7 years and never filed one claim. I got into an accident and my car was totaled out. It's been a month and they still haven't settled the claim! They don't care if you do not have a car to drive. They ignore your phone calls and give you the run around. Customer service is terrible, stay away!
Have been good up until now by learnfpga ,Jun 06 '06
Pros: Very fast and responsive thru emails, Cons: Less phone support
I am in MA and I have had Amica Auto for last 8 months. They have been very responsive and cooperative but only through emails.
Another good thing was they considered my international driving experience while quoting the price.
Could never talk to anyone over the phone but once I found an agent she was pretty good in replying.
I had an accident and my car was totalled. They were pretty fast in sending me the cheque. I had 97 camry with about 127000 miles on it. I got about $5700 for it based in KBB value which I thought was amazing.
I have to wait and see how they do with my rates next year because of the accident and all....
Goods----Did not haggle much over price of the totalled car
Bads----During the accident for a couple of days no one from the insurance company explained the steps to follow after the accident even though I reported accident within hours of happening.
I am not one to write raving reviews, I'm rarely ever pleased with a company much less their customer service.
Amica however is the exception to my negative outlook. I have unfortunately had to file several claims with them over the last 20 years and not once...NEVER have I had anything but excellent service from start to finish.
Amica has also gone to bat for me on several occasions when I felt I was being unfairly treated by another insurance carrier who insured a driver that was responsible for causing damage to my car and once, my home.
They have far exceeded my expectations. My one complaint with AMICA is I can't complain about them.
Don't Even Bother With Them by jihanemo ,Dec 03 '07
Pros: Cheaper than most auto insurance companies serving NYC. Cons: Poor customer service.
Couldn't even sign up for a policy - customer service reps don't give you the full details about the policy. They seem a little shady about who they are willing to give their policies to. Give you SOME details at first but then change their story later. They also do not return your messages (experienced this w/ 2 reps). Some of the reps are rude. Right before I was ready to sign up for a policy, they tell me that I need a DRIVEWAY and the car cannot be taken out on a loan or else I can't get a policy - major details the first rep seems to have skipped the first time I discussed signing up w/ them! Now all of a sudden I HAVE to HAVE driveway??? Right, so all of AMICA's customer's in NEW YORK CITY have driveways??? (Sigh) This experience was a prelude to what it must be like to actually file a claim w/ them once you ARE a customer. Don't even bother! Just bite the bullet and sign up w/ GEICO like I did - they are EXPENSIVE but RELIABLE!
