Pros: Never had a problem with AMICA before Cons: Have a BIG problem with AMICA now
I'm stunned. Maybe I'm missing something and you can reply and help me out. Okay. I've been with AMICA Auto for 25 years and AMICA Home for 15 years. I have never made a claim. My home was recently appraised (for 2nd mortgage) at about ...

Pros: * Exceptional claims service and help in times of crisis.
Cons: * A little more expensive, though you get it back with the dividend checks.
Our San Diego home (Rancho Bernardo) burned down in the Witch Creek fire, and Amica was there for us. We were lucky in that we were renters, not homeowners, and so we are not having to go through the nightmare of having to rebuild, but still, Amica has ...

Pros: Efficient; not pushy; will work with you Cons: Ask for more underwriting information
I've had Amica insurance since 1993, first as a renter, then as a homeowner. Their reputation for superb service is well deserved. Service has been far better than with any other insurer I've dealt with, for any type of insurance. [Fortunately, I've...

Pros: They honored their obligation to us Cons: It was slow!
-- PLEASE SEE MY RELATED REVIEW ON HOW TO USE A HOME OWNER'S POLICY --
My parents had Amica Insurance for many years as a result of their top rating in Consumer Reports. During that time, we had one or two minor claims - a car accident...

Pros: Good rates, good reputation Cons: Inflexible, irrational on requirements, and weak on customer relations. And questionable trustworthiness.
After much research, I tried to switch my auto and home insurance to Amica. For the record, I've been driving legally since I was fifteen, and have used State Farm for that entire time. I am 39, and have not gotten a traffic ticket since I was 21. I ...

Pros: Decent rates. Past good service. Cons: Customer Service has declined dramatically.
Rates no longer the lowest.
I've been an Amica Auto Insurance customer for approximately 4 years, using the dividend policy and paying automatically (i.e., on time). I've never had a claim. Tenant insurance was added about a year and a half ago. Again, no claims. During this ...

Pros: Financially sound
Reasonable rates
Good customer service Cons: 'Strict' underwriting requirements
I have very mixed feelings about Amica. We've had home, liability and auto insurance with them for several years. I chose them because they were a financially solid company with a stable perspective on business. Their prices have also always been ...

Pros: Not sure how they are top rated Cons: Inflated Insurance Value, Non sense Underwriting, Had to call dozen times to get response
I recently purchased a home and was shopping for Home Insurance. Got quotes from State Farm, All state, Prudential, Nationwide and Met life and Amica. Since I saw at the Clark Howard web site that Amica is top rated, I approached them first, even though ...

Pros: Good rates Cons: They deny coverage to all but the most traditional, urban customers
I am building a home in New Mexico and decided to try Amica because they have a good reputation. I was seeking a home, auto, and umbrella liability policy. I need all three policies from the same company, both because of the discount I would get and the ...

Pros: Reputably good service, responsive Cons: Not very flexible to qualify
I had recently switched my Auto Insurance to Amica based on their reputation and a positive comment by Clark Howard (the GOD of consumer rights! :-) ) As I prefer to consolidate all of my insurance with one carrier, I was interested in obtaining...

Pros: The company is recommended in "Home buying for dummies". Cons: Inflexible and autocratic
I recently purchased a beautiful 1991 colonial and called Amica because they were recommended in both "Home buying for dummies" and "100 questions every first-time home buyer should ask". I was aware that AMICA's prices may not be the cheapest but their...

Pros: affordable, reliable, efficient Cons: none
We discovered Amica (there is little advertising or sales) through someone who was using them 10 years ago. The company works primarily through referrals and by reputation. We were immediately impressed by the service, and the helpfulness of phone...

Pros: The hassle outweighs any benefits. Cons: Ridiculous 3rd party inspections. Calculator way overvalues homes -- this makes deductibles and premiums higher.
First of all, we just built our home acting as our own general contractor. WE purchased ALL the materials ourselves, and hired all the subs. Our house cost 300,000 to build -- this does not include the outside structures such as the patios ...

Pros: Reasonable cost, great consumer ratings and service Cons: None that I can think of
We've had several home insurers in the past 20 years, due to moving, broker changes, and even one alleged-decent insurer going bust (!). We found Amica by accident a few years back, since it doesn't do heavy advertising. Many consumer-type sites gave it ...
