Pros: No credit check; monthly billing; best rate Cons: All State & maybe Nationwide (send the Bunko Squad)
While setting up a closing date on my new condo, although my mortgage company was not requiring it, I decided it was prudent to have homeowners insurance ready to go. Since Homeowners Condominium Form B insurance is a standard coverage...
Pros: They contacted us very quickly and have stayed in touch fairly well. Cons: One week and its been like this...never again!

Farmers Insurance has been a previous home insurer of mine due to my parents recommending it. My parents have used this company for the last 22 years to insure their cars and house with mimimal problems or issues.
Pros: Fast service with every attempt made to keep our life stable. Outstanding team work. Cons: None
You never know how good an insurance company is until you need them and that is too late. I would highly recommend Farmers and I'll tell you why. We had Farmers on our 100 yr old house for several years. One night our house caught on fire from ...
Pros: Fast, friendly service. Immediate help in an emergency. Cons: Higher premiums than some other companies.
We recently lost our home to a fire. The fire broke out at around 5:00 p.m. Since I was at home with the children and saw the smoke coming through the attic vents, I was able to get the kids and the pets out with a bit of help. When the fire ...
Farmers Insurance who "covered" us since about 1994, lowballed us on our hail damage claim. We had a terrible hail storm in September 2007, our city was declared a disaster area. Our house developed a roof leak. The adjustor showed up, looked at the ...
Pros: Reasonably Priced Cons: Amendments made in fine print or not at all to your policy
After buying our house 8 years ago we looked into insurance companies that would handle not only homeowners but earthquake insurance as well, since we do live in Southern CA. Farmers at the time was the only carrier that would carry both types of...
Pros: Efficiently cash out your premium check Cons: Breach of contract, violations of business and professions code section 17200.
I am a Farmers Home insurer victim who is suffering from their fraudulent business conducts. I was advised from the claim representatives of the so called emergency services offering. It was merely a warning of accepting the responsibility of paying the ...
Pros: BECAUSE WE HAVE AUTOS INSURED ASWELL, OUR RATES ARE ACTUALLY LOWER THAN ANY OTHER Cons: POLICY CHANGED WITHOUT INDICATION OF SUCH AND THEY RAISED THE COST WITH LESS COVERAGE
WE HAVE A HOUSE THAT WE HAVE OWNED ~AND PAID FOR FARMERS INSURANCE~ FOR OVER 15 YEARS. WE DISCOVERED SOME CRACKS APPEARING THROUGH OUT THE HOUSE AND CALLED OUR AGENT, WHO TOLD US TO CALL A PLUMBER AND FIND OUT IF WE HAD A WATER LEAK SOMEWHERE. WE DID ...
Pros: There's nothing Pros about FARMERS Cons: VERY high premiums = NO COVERAGE NO REIMBURSEMENTS

Farmers doesn't value good customers by disaac76 ,Sep 18 '07
Pros: Cheap Cons: The local agents and corporate do not seem to communicate or care.
After we moved from NV to CA, we have had nothing but problems with Farmers. I think they used an entire tree for the amount of paperwork they sent us. We called our agent and updated our address, but they still sent us notices to the old address. We have 9 policies with them and have been customers for over 5 years, but they don't seem to care. We contacted them concerning one of the several dozen invoices they sent us, and figured it was being taken care of...Well I guess being sent to collections is how they take care of things!!! We have never had a late payment, and this is the way they treat us!! Our agent said this was standard procedure and offered no apology. Way to go Farmers!
Pros: none Cons: finds any way to avoid paying on a claim.
I got Farmers Home Ins. against my wife's wishes, because they were the lowest price. My wife has done ins. claims for 5 years, and said Farmers was the worst at paying claims. Well i should have listen to her.Wind damage to my roof. Blew many shingles off. They said I need a new roof. The price $5200. Then they change there story, and say I only need to replace the back, and patch the front, and since that falls under my dect. they will pay nothing. I called everyone all the way to the state lady in charge of claims. Her response, was "it;s pre-existing hail damage, and if they knew how my roof was, they never would have insured me". I was floored. They sent a inspector out and looked over my home, and insured me. The insurance Commission. was no help. As soon as my police is up I'm gone. ALSO they sent me a letter saying if I don't get my roof fixed by Sept. there dropping me. Thanks Farmers For Nothing...Drop Me Please!!! and give me my money back you weasel's
farmers insurance misleading by mochatrout ,May 02 '05
Pros: Well...I guess their name sounds nice. Cons: expensive, misleading
When I bought my new home I was told by Farmers insurance that because of some moss on the backside of my house I could only qualify for their high risk insurance at an additional cost to me of $1000 per year, but that I could get out of the policy and into a regular policy as soon as the moss issue was corrected. I quickly fixed the issues with my new house, but guess what? They refuse to issue me a standard policy until a year has passed. So now I'm stuck with expensive high-risk insurance on a perfectly good house.
