Pros: Friendly and competent customer service. Good rates. Very good claims experience Cons: Sometimes takes a while to get through to customer service
If your driving record is good, Geico offers an outstanding combination of price and claims service. Their customer service is pretty good also.
I've been with Geico for 8 years after nearly 20 with Allstate. I wish I'd discovered Geico...

Pros: Easy Application; Good Website Cons: When they get a chance to up your low premium, they will!
UPDATE 6/27/01 In reviewing earlier opinions I've written (hoping to hone in on my writing skills), I ran across the one below which I had hastily written in December 1999, while still basking in what I thought was a good decision.

Pros: Claims, Service, rated at the top by many (AM Best, S&P, Consumer Reports, JD Powers.....) Cons: The whole country not being with GEICO yet
Trust is about all you can have when you have auto insurance. I have the best in GEICO! I have piece of mind with a 24hr customer service unit, 24hr claims available, coverage that I am well informed of, and the most easy of all ways to pay.
With...

Pros: Nice commercials Cons: You might not be insured
I received an interesting letter from New York State the other day. They were demanding my license plates back. It seems that I didn't have any auto insurance in effect.
So I called GEICO, and they said that my insurance was cancelled for...

Pros: None that I know of Cons: HUGELY inflated pricing!
I recently called Geico Direct for an auto insurance quote for my 1994 Thunderbird. I have absolutely nothing bad on my driving record. I was currently paying $645 every six months for full coverage insurance from another company. When I called Geico,...

Pros: an 800 number? Cons: Extremely unhelpful
When I was stationed in Germany, I bought a car through AAFES. I was to pick up the car in Philadelphia, then drive it to Maryland, my next duty assignment. To pick the car up, I had to have insurance in hand. I called GEICO's 800 number, described my...

Pros: Available online for everything including payments. Cons: Rates are much higher than most other insurance companies
I switched my car insurance to Geico for the convience of online billing in January 2001. This was the biggest financial mistake of my life. My premium increased $170.00 per month as compared to my prior company and that was with the premium change from...

Pros: Prompt claim payments low rates, great 24 hour phone support, and intuitive website. Cons: Credit cards are not accepted for insurance payment.
My first experience with GEICO happened in Louisiana, an insured hit my parked car and caused over $1000.00 in damages. Unfamiliar with this company, I followed the accident protocol and summoned police (beyond the initial exchange of insurance info)....

Pros: Unbeatable quotes, nice customer service. Cons: Provided insurance cards could easily be lost.
Tony the Tiger would of made the perfect spokesanimal for Geico. I was actually smiling after hanging up with Geico which is a rare event when discussing a car insurance company. Note: As of August 2003, I no longer use Geico. I have switche ...

Pros: Great discounts, a wide variety of products and services, excellent customer service. Cons: Difficult speaking with the same CSR. High rates for young drivers and old folks.
Less than a year ago, I worked as an Insurance Sales Representative (I gave you the quote over the phone) for GEICO Direct. I left primarily because the Techie in me was just screaming to get out (They tortured me by running a 500+ workstation...

Pros: Cheap, online, and there when you need them. Cons: none so far
First let me state my bias: when it comes to auto insurance, price is far more important to me than service. Of course I don't want to have to wrangle with my insurance company after an accident, but I am not willing to pay very much for that...

Pros: Everything!!!! Cons: Nada
I have read many opinion's on GEICO and some of the most disturbing to me are the people who say "What a joke, this company could not save me any money". Well as an insurance agent I can say one thing. If you are insured by Insurance World, Big Gorilla,...

Pros: Quick to respond and good pay out Cons: Rental car is not necessary available for the time needed
I've been a licensed driver for close to 10 years and always thought auto insurance was mostly wasted money. I often wondered what were chances of ever really needing the coverage. But, like most, I accepted it as a necessary evil.
I drive a...

Pros: 24 hr service, good net site, some very friendly folks here and there at 800# Cons: Corporate Cults book stories, sued by government over various matters such as discrimination, inferior/allegedly unsafe replacement parts
Geico has some good points...and true...not many care much about anyone elses bad until it happens to them---so as long as their limited experience is good...that's all they care about. (and they ignore or argue with anyone else that heaven forbid...

Pros: Prices and Service Cons: None
GEICO sells their auto insurance directly to the public, through a few local offices, but primarily through a toll free number. Remember one phone number and you can contact someone anytime day or night regarding anything from getting a quote to getting...
