Pros: Easy to maintain your policy. Cons: Terrible with working through a claim.
So taking the time here to basically echo the same complaint. An important thing that I don't see noted yet is the overall rating on Epinions vs Trend during the last 2-3 years. Things appear to be going in the wrong direction at USAA. They have a ...

Pros: telephone accessibility Cons: no fact-to-face contact
I switched to USAA for 2 reasons: I'd heard lots of good word of mouth, and my California carrier can't insure me in Georgia. My first day driving in Georgia, I was in an accident caused by another driver's running a red light and going too fast for...

Pros: inexpensive. policy service is very professional Cons: unpleasant claims experience
Overall USAA seems very solid and professional, and it seems indisputable that they are the least expensive insurance around. However, like some others describe, I am not happy with the claims service. I was in a minor scrape-up which was, at worst,...

I am a retired USAF officer. I have been a member and have insured my auto's with USAA for 33 consecutive years. I, nor anyone in my family, have had an accident, moving violation, or filed a claim with USAA in those 33 years. In August of 2009 I ...

Do not call USAA
by paul321 ,Dec 26 '03
Pros: None Cons: Poor service--look for a local insurance company with a local agent.
When my daughter backed one of my cars into another one of my cars in my driveway, I called USAA to check on my coverage. I just wanted information on my policy and they filled out an accident report. This incident took place on private property with no police report filed. Because my deductible was more than the incident, I told them to forget the entire matter. They didnt!
I have six vehicles and my house insured with USAA and have been a member since 1962 (41 years). Now USAA has jacked up my insurance premiums and threatened to cancel my umbrella policy. I send them $655.50 each month (I live in western NJ). THIS IS SERVICE? Maybe we all should be looking for a different insurance company-one with a local person you can talk with instead of ten different people on the phone!
Advice: Dont call USAA
