Pros: Easy to do, quick return Cons: have to use credit card to pay and not checking account
I loved being able to file my taxes online from my own computer this year. I was going to buy the software and do it that way but held off. Then I saw on a message board about it being available online this year. I was thrilled to see that I didn't have...

Pros: Inexpensive, safe, and accurate. Cons: User should have some understanding of how to file their returns.
Tax time has been a breeze, thanks to Intuit's TurboTax. For the fourth year in a row, I’ve already filed and received my federal and state refunds using the easy-to-use TurboTax program. In the previous two years, I used the online version, which...

Pros: easy to understand; customer friendly; guaranteed accurate; no more Tylenol Cons: website may run a little slow; requires steady Internet connection
Why I Decided To Try It
I suppose you could call it peer pressure, but "everybody is doing it" and I wanted to find out what all the hoopla was about. So, after carefully doing my taxes on paper, I sat down with this web-based version...

Pros: Easy, Convenient, Accurate Cons: Experienced a slow period last year.
The last two years when tax time came, I chose to use WebTurboTax to file my returns. I have been very happy with my decision. The taxes where prepared quickly, accurately, (to the best of my knowledge), and above all conveniently.
I think...

Pros: Less expensive than software, e-filing, easy to navigate Cons: Confusing options, self-contradictory instructions, inadequate web tech support, pay-per-use tech support.
For the past two years I have used TurboTax software to do my taxes. I always receive a refund, so it’s a big plus to use the e-file feature. The only drawback was the $10 it cost to use e-file, which is in addition to the $20 cost of the software. This...

Pros: Fast, nearly identical to regular TurboTax, user-friendly, and did I say fast? Cons: I couldn't find a way to save my web tax return in regular TurboTax format
I've been a TurboTax user for a few years now, and it's a product that has stood me in good stead even as my finances grow ever more complex. I started using TurboTax when I could no longer file a 1040EZ, and have been using it ever since, with no...

Pros: Quick Easy Tax Prep for the Computer Illiterate! Cons: Wrist cramp :)
Every year I trudge down to my accountant to pay an obscene amount of money to have my relatively simple taxes done. This year however, through the magic of cyberspace I had them all done in less than 2 hours!!
I am relatively new at the whole...

Pros: easy, online, faster than my accountant Cons: none
Usually I hire an accountant to do my taxes -- not because I can't but because I'm lazy. This year, due to someone's recommendation, I decided to try the Turbo Tax For the Web Program. I was able to go through and get to the end before I decided...

Pros: great user interface, great advice on taxes, great options Cons: sometimes a bit slow, needed to be at computer with internet to do taxes
I've always sort of dreading doing my taxes, like I'm sure just about everyone does (I know there are some people out there who do like to do them, and we appreciate them and usually pay them to do our taxes for us). However, there comes a time when all...

January 99, it was my first year where I was filing my own taxes, up til then I'd been on my parents return, or my husband's or I just hadnt made enough to make it necessary!

Pros: Cheap, easy to use, contains error checks, steps to explain taxes Cons: Cannot use if income from more than one state.
This was the first year I had planned on doing my own taxes. I had my taxes done for the previous 4 year at a major accounting firm and was tired of paying an outrageous amount of money for what is a very simple tax return. I am single, own a house,...

Pros: Quick & easy to navigate, lots of help along the way Cons: Disappointing customer service
This was the second year in a row that I've used TurboTax. I used their store-bought software for 1999 and was impressed, so I decided to try the web-version this year.
The website, like the software, is very good at walking you through every...

Pros: Reasonably fast and thorough, love the handling of Schedule D (Capital Gains) Cons: No MacOS IE support. Some redundancy
As a bit of introduction and disclosure, I write and design accounting software for a living. In fact, one of the products that I wrote is currently shipped with Intuit's Quickbooks for Macintosh. I don't work for Intuit, though. So keep that in mind....
