Pros: Not-for-profit works better, great services, no hidden fees, etc. Cons: $1,025 minimum monthly balance
San Diego County Credit Union is a model credit union bank. With 16 branches all over San Diego, members of the nonprofit bank get excellent customer support, great services, and safe investment with funds insured by the NCUA.I have been a member since...
Pros: great website, friendly customer service, many branches and ATMs Cons: monthly fee if no direct deposit over $100/month
My membership at the San Diego County Credit union has last 2 years now - I have had no disappointments so far. A little history: SDCCU is a family owned institution, established in 1938. Since that time it grew to 20 branch locations to serve 150 ...
We have been a member with San Diego County Credit Union for about 4 years now. Now is it possible to say that in that time span we have never had a problem with this bank? Well, believe it or not it is very true. This is the only bank that I have been...
Pros: Local credit union. Internet access to account. Good service. Cons: Not enough ATMs
I have not been really happy with any bank since back in the days of San Diego Trust and Savings. The San Diego Credit Union is right up there. This is a great bank! This credit union has started to grow and will probably become more popular as time...
Pros: Superb, the first banking Institution that I have enjoyed doing business with Cons: None that I have experienced in 4-years
We have been banking with SDCCU for 4 or 5 years after a succession of irritating banks that merged. They have superb customer service. ATM are fairly convenient. Their home banking software and web site are superb. I don't pay any fees - other than...
Don't be fooled, SDCCU is a BANK! by sdepinion ,Oct 09 '07
Pros: Automotive loans are barely competitive. I think they still offer few free cashier checks. Cons: Not a traditional credit union any more. Very fee based and becoming very sneaky.
I have been with SDCCU for almost 9 years now. And for the first 6 years I have been a very happy member. However, in the last two years I have seen various fees go through the roof! In addition, customer service has greatly degraded. I used to feel that SDCCU was an honest organization that cared about their members; but now they feel like a greedy, tricky, slimy bank! I just came back from a two week vacation though Europe and wow I can't believe they charged me $3 per ATM withdrawal and 1% visa fee. I don't even have a VISA debit card, I specifically requested an old fashion ATM card (no visa logos anywhere) to avoid this unfair visa charge! It you don't read their fee schedules religiously, they will sneak these type of charges by you. And they call themselves a caring, not-for-profit credit union... what a joke!!!
The people at SDCCU would have you believe that they care about each and every "member". In my seven years experience I have to say I am of the opinion that they could care less about their "Members". Over the past few years they have seemed to become more Bank-like, increasing overdraft fees and promoting an online banking system that rarely reflects what a member looks for in a REAL credit union, integrity and honesty. The flashy branch locations weren't built on being a no fee institution, rather by charging fees unfairly to working people who get shafted on their unexplainable accounting methods. I am currently seeking a new financial institution that can demonstrate to me that they care. We'll see. Consider yourself warned about doing business with this BANK.
