Pros: Creative level designs, sometimes Cons: Terrible controls, muddy graphics, little to do really
Summary: California Speed is for the most part a crappy racing game, but the creative and large levels almost make it worthwhile. Almost. I am fairly certain this was an arcade port, which explains why the game's not particularly big on content, but the stages ... read more

Pros: Fast RaceCars, Long Tracks,Lots Of Tracks Cons: Graphics Sucks,Cars Look Gay,The Speed Tracks Are Dumb
Summary: -I got this game at Wal Mart for $29.99 and when i took it home it was a little bit of a disappointment for me. The game wasn't worth the money.

Pros: Cheap, pretty decent quality Cons: On the whole, only an average racing game
Summary: Okay so it's no Gran Turismo.
Yeah, and the cars are generic and the graphics are kind of flat and pixelated. So what IS good about this game?
#1.) It was cheap. I bought it for under $20. Hard to find an N64 game that cheap ... read more

Pros: Fast and speedy Cons: Painfully generic, dead feeling arcade racer, horrible sound track, low lasting factor
Summary: Midway's 1998 arcade game, California Speed was more or less a Cruis'n meets Rush. It takes Rush style racing, Cruis'n style because the tracks are linear and you are unable to reverse, and makes California Speed. An experiment that was an experiment yet ... read more

Pros: 30 minutes of fun... Cons: What do you do with it after that?
Summary: This game seems cool at first... But that's all. The games graphics aren't that great, especially when compared to other Midway games like Crusin' World and San Francisco Rush. The driving seems very arcade-like but it lacks the addictive qualities a ... read more

Pros: Fair graphics. Cons: ZERO Challenge. Bad sound effects. Poor racing engine. Bad control. No replay value. Beat it in 30 minutes, and that's it.
Summary: Just what the N64 needs, another racing game. And let me tell you, it's not exactally the cream-of-the-crop. This game is basically a San Fransisco Rush wannabe (which Rush was and is an excellent racing game for the N64) with a poor Crusin' USA engine. ... read more

Pros: Interesting courses, fun-ish Cons: Bad graphics, bad controls, bad sound, etc.
Summary: I loved California Speed in the arcade. Wild tracks leading onto rollercoasters, or into UFO's and giant circuitboards. Jumps and shortcuts and all that fun stuff. Since Midway did such an excellent job on San Francisco RUSH, I figured this game was ... read more

Pros: The word pro doesn't belong in this game Cons: Bad graphics, controls, everything
Summary: Let me start of first by saying I thought this game would be good-boy was a I wrong! The controls are basically the same for all the cars even though they were obviously different cars. The cars left the cheesy "trails" ever time they ... read more

Pros: ...nice title? Cons: Lots of things!
Summary: I'm confused at the elements that make up "California Speed." The option and menu screens appear to lead to a semi-serious racing game, but everything goes downhill from there!
The cars aren't even funny, they are just silly. Even ... read more
