Looking for a great cup of coffee or espresso? Start here.

by spaced , Dec 20 '02
Pros: minimized static fly-away, easy to clean and use, consistent grinds
Cons: none
As I stress in other reviews of coffee brewing products, first you start with fresh, filtered water. Then you grind your beans moments before you brew your coffee. With this model (I'm a big Starbucks fan) you can have just that: coffee beans freshly...

Burr is Better - Get this Grinder

by annwendy , Apr 16 '04
Pros: Easy to use, consistent grind, large hopper, attractive, many grind settings
Cons: I can't think of one.
As someone who works from home, having the ability to make a really excellent cup of coffee whenever I need it is essential. I couldn't do it without this grinder. This is the third grinder I have owned. The first two were blade grinders. For those ...

Good grinder, but makes Intercontinental Ballistic Coffee Grounds (ICBGs)

by photorick , Dec 31 '03
Pros: Good grinds, makes tasty coffee, nice looks, good price
Cons: Oh-my-gosh-the-static!!!! Duck! Small ground coffee basket
I received the Barista Burr Grinder as a Christmas gift and have used it approximately a dozen times. When it works, it grinds very well and allows for very tasty coffee. It's also a good bang for the buck - better quality than Capresso, but costs ...

Fresh Starbuck's quality coffee at home.

by karielle , May 18 '00
Pros: Unfailing quality grind.
Cons: Nothing really
At the time that I was looking to buy an espresso machine, I realized that I would have to look for a grinder that would grind the coffee fine enough to make espresso with as well as still be able to grind the coffee for my drip coffee maker. The last...

Good grinds but messy...

by drew0570 , May 28 '02
Pros: Good quality grinds.
Cons: Coffee grinds fly all over from static charge. No cleaning brush.
The Starbucks burr grinder does an excellent job of evenly grinding the coffee beans. The cheaper whirlygig choppers sliced and diced and you have to guess when you have ground the coffee enough. Not with the burr grinder. Just set the desired grind...

Not worth $125

by pollilop , Feb 26 '06
Pros: Looks nice, easy to clean.
Cons: Flimsy construction, TOO LOUD, vibrates alot, immense static, expensive, can't replace the burrs.
As a Starbucks employee, I have the opportunity to 'test-drive' all of our home brewing products before selling them, or buying one for myself. While this burr grinder is certainly not a bad machine, it is also not worth the $125 price tag. ...

Best Grinder in its price range.

by Coffee_Kid , Oct 04 '00
Pros: quality parts inside and out, features step-gearing motor for consistent grinds, good warranty to back it up, should last years in your home.
Cons: grind selection choices are too narrow and don't take advantage of the machine's actual full grind ability from super powder fine to super coarse.
First off, I'm an espresso and coffee purist. To see how much I love the bean, check out my website at www.coffeekid.com.

I own 5 grinders, including two preproduction units given to me for testing. They range from the lowest price unit in my...

Excellent Machine

by pleh42 , Jul 30 '05
Pros: Uniform grind, excellent performance, easy to clean - would buy again!
Cons: Timer duration unrelated to output amounts
I received the Barista burr grinder as a birthday gift four years ago, and it has served well. The conical burr seems to do an excellent job of creating a uniform grind. I used to think it was pretty noisy until I heard some of the competition! The ...

The King of Coffee Grinders

by mbuechler , Dec 26 '00
Pros: Excellent grind quality, quiet, well constructed
Cons: A little pricey
This grinder is the best grinder available for home use! I've used the standard grocery store blade grinders for years, but never have I used such a quality grinder as the Barista. It is unique in that is grinds the coffee beans using a couple of...

Take Coffee to the Next Level

by JFTaylor , Dec 29 '00
Pros: Easy to use, quality construction, precise grind
Cons: Static on opening grounds hopper.
There is nothing else you can purchase to make a dramatic difference in the way coffee tastes, it's aroma or the overall enjoyment of your coffee than a burr grinder. Not only does it serve a functional use to grind your beans to the desired consistency,...

I like it ... but! (read on)

by warentester , Mar 31 '03
Pros: Excellent appearance, quite, no smear, easy to clean.
Cons: Hefty price tag (paid $125 plus Tax), Beans jam frequently, I don't like Starbucks
I bought it mainly for it's attractive appearance (and because I desperately needed a birthday present). It's a piece of jewelry on our kitchen counter. We got the machine for almost a year now and it's time to update the review. Basically the machine ...

Good but Messy Grinder-Better than most, not perfect

by willing2share , Oct 20 '03
Pros: Reliable, predictable grind for great tasting coffee.
Cons: Static Electricity makes for coffee grounds flying all over the countertop.
After 2 years, will sell it on eBAY. Good burr grinder, trouble free, not too noisy. Bought it at Christmas time so it was on sale for $99, not the regular price of $125. My old blade bean cutter got cleaned up and is now a spice grinder instead. ...

Best grinder I have ever owned. Here's why.

by halon1301 , Dec 15 '03
Pros: Very consistant, low maint, simple operation, less mess than other burr grinders, stylish, large hopper.
Cons: Expensive (but worth it IMHO), somewhat messy compared to other grinding methods.
I have owned several grinders previous to this one. I have used everything from hand grinders to blade grinders, and then electric burr grinders. That is the category that this one falls into: electric burr grinders. This is my third electric burr, ...

Good while it lasted -- which wasn't long!

by jim_mcginnis , Nov 16 '03
Pros: Uniformity of grind (when new), styling
Cons: Static, clogs on oily beans, wore out way too soon
The first time I made coffee from my new Barista, I couldn't believe how much better it tasted. It was really a revelation to me that proper grinding could make such a difference. Of course, it was replacing a 10 year old Braun burr grinder. It was ...

From Bargain to Doorstop ... alas

by frankns , Jan 04 '05
Pros: Convenient size, easy operation, relatively quiet, good grinder BUT not for dark roast
Cons: Jams griding dark roast, some of grind bypasses cup, easy to mis-assemble, static
I have owned the Barista for almost a month, grinding the supply of beans I had on hand without a hitch. Unfortunately, about two weeks back I shifted to a darker and more oily roast only to find that the grinder simply would not feed beans reliably. I ...
