Braun MultiMix - A great all-in-one mixer/blender/chopper

by caroleg Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 26 '00
Pros: Cuts down on the number of appliances you need
Cons: Haven't found one yet
I am always a little skeptical about these all-in-one devices, but in this case, I’m really impressed. The Braun Multimix really does combine a hand mixer, bread kneader, sauce puree(er) and chopper all in one unit successfully.

I went over...

A Complete Package: Convenient, Easy and Affordable!

by jma924 , Feb 17 '00
Pros: size; convenience, ease of cleaning
Cons: not as powerful as a real mixer or food processor
When my husband and I first got married, one of my best friends gave us the Braun Hand-Held Mixer/Food Processor as a wedding gift. Since we were living in a rather small apartment at the time, space was definitely a factor in the number of kitchen...

Mix it up, really!

by dalesky Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Apr 11 '02
Pros: Multi-tasking made easy
Cons: none noted
I'm not sure of the model number of the one I have. It's the one with variable speeds, a whisk attachment, a covered container, and a food processor attachment.

I got it on the strong recommendation of a friend who cooks for his 8 person...

I received my BRAUN Multimix M 800 a few years ago as a Christmas gift. My mother-in-law at the time asked me what I would like for Christmas. I told her I would love a hand blender. Boy was I surprised to open this wonderful gift! This Multimix not only...

Everything you need

by patee987 , Feb 26 '00
Pros: Versitility, durability
Cons: None
The Braun mixer performs the duties of a blender and hand mixer beautifully. Since I own a breadmaker, I have yet to use the dough hooks.
When purchasing a hand mixer I look for power and durability. This mixer has both. It mixes large batches...

I LOVED it...but it died

by heffalump150 , Jan 05 '08
Pros: Food Processor, Hand held blender, and mixer all in one!
Cons: It died far too soon!
The title says it all, I LOVED my multimixer. We've blended up loads of baby food in the 6 years that we've had it. But then all of a sudden, I lost speeds 1 and 2, I guess I can still use it for the blender and processor attachments. I'm so sad to ...

a good hand mixer
by Fritz57 ,Dec 01 '03
Pros: powerful enough for most jobs, sleek, no air holes to suck in flour
Cons: not for dense dough, bread, choc chip etc.
We bought this to replace a 20 year old no name hand mixer that had been through the mill. Many Chocolate chip cookie doughs. Tough on any mixer.

I really like this mixer and the various attachments. But to say it will do bread dough or chocolate chip cookie dough on a regular basis is a mistake. It's good for maringues, pancakes, cakes, etc. The "mini processor" does a good job, with patience, with a pie crust.

It has 3 speeds, plus pulse. The switch on ours failed in 2 positions. It's closing in on 3 years old.

I've since found out that in spite of the fact that this mixer was discontinued by Braun in 98, it is still for sale, but unsupported by Braun.
I bought it in late 99.

The "food processor" top failed at the end of the fifth year. I'd say the interior gears are plastic and they have fused.

Sad the failure rate of parts of this mixer in 5 years when you consider the older one it replaced ran for 20 years doing heavier work.

Shortterm pleasure
by zaargirl ,Nov 12 '04
Pros: Neat, multi-purpose attachments.
Cons: Poor craftsmanship, cheap materials.
I have had my M880 Braun Multimix for three years and consider myself a very light user of it. Within the first five times I used it, a piece of plastic broke loose in the inside of the machine and has clattered around ever since. Thereafter, the slide which covers an attachment port did not spring back into position. But it still worked.

(I shared my frustration with a friend of mine who told me that she went through two M880s, the same thing happening with each. Finally she switched to a different brand.)

This month, the speed control switch on my M880 fried. It was gradual, but I now only have power at the third and pulse settings (which are both the same --highest-- speed). And with one of the attachments, I have no power at all. The machine is basically useless to me now.

I can't quite give up on the great name of Braun, but based on my terrible experience with this Multimixer, I would never buy another of their cheaper electronic items.
