I just bought one of these Hamilton Beach 62695V hand mixers last night. I used it for making some frosting and was horrified to see silver or metal flakes in my frosting. I looked at the bowl and at the mixer as well as the counter area for what might have caused the problem. I realized it was the beaters on the mixer! I don't know if there is a silver colored coating on the mixers that is coming off or if there are metal flakes. I cannot contact customer service until tomorrow but I am so disappointed in the poor quality of the beaters. I noticed that this mixer was made in China.

I bought this mixer after I had burned out a $5. hand mixer that actually worked pretty well, I got my money's worth. I was impressed with the 225 Watts and thought this one might have more power for making stiff batters and icing. The beaters never fit into the machine well, frequently falling into the batter! After using it 6 or 8 times the beaters locked up, so now I can't use it at all. Waste of money!
