Pros: Very flexible rack system, Speed Cycle great for daily use, very attractive exterior design. Cons: Slightly more noise than I would like

Pros: Ease of operation
Massive volume
Easily adjustable tines allow for customization
Extremely quiet Cons: Most stores display only the stainless steel model, thus the price scares them off.
The wife and I were looking at a lesser expensive model in the GE line, the 5500 Series Triton, for at least a month when we came upon this treasure. The 5500 ran between $335 (Sam's Club) & $380 (Home Depot). We found this top of the line GE Profile...
Pros: Quiet, Quiet, Quiet -- capacity is enormous -- unbelievable amount of settings Cons: Haven't found it yet
I finally am updating the kitchen -- new appliances are this girl's best friend. Maybe it's because the old ones were so old, but I am very impressed with the GE Profile line of products. I got the whole kit-and-caboodle -- stove, dishwasher, micro and...
Pros: Quiet, large capacity, numerous flexible controls, Cleans very well Cons: Display active 100% of time when door latched, poor detergent holder design
I have had this dishwasher for about a year and am over all very satisfied with my purchase. I have had not problems with the dishwasher. There are several nit picking things that irritate me though. Most important of all I have found that the ...
Pros: Large storage capacity, no streakage, quiet Cons: Can sometimes find hardened food particles stuck onto plates
In todays kitchens, nice appliances are needed to create a warm and homelike atmosphere. Without efficient, quiet, and easy to use appliances, a kitchen is more of a hassle rather than that warm gathering place (that housing magazines aim for). Just ...
Pros: Works well when it's working Cons: Required 4 service visits for 2 problems
What we like: This dishwasher has a sanitize feature and cleans dishes well. You do need to pre-rinse, and soak dishes with hardened or baked-on food, but dishes with few exceptions come out shiny and clean if we do this. It has a fairly ...
Pros: The dishwasher is sleek, has flexible loading, large capacity, and various wash settings. Cons: Dishes do not get clean, even with the longest cycle, extra heat, and pre-wash.
We recently built a new home and therefore had to purchase all our appliances. We went with the GE Profile suite, and while I'm happy with our refrigerator and oven, I am extremely disappointed with the dishwasher. We purchased this dishwasher because of ...
Pros: Matches my other GE profile appliances. Cons: GE can't or won't fix it. Be prepared to wash dishes by hand.
I got to choose the dishwasher for the house we were renting and I bought this model and I loved it. A year and a half later when we purchased our own home I again bought this model dishwasher thinking it was great. VERY BAD DECISION!!! They changed ...
Pros: Nice looking, quite machine. Cons: doesn't clean properly. Soap still left at end.
We did a complete remodel and went with all GE Profile Stainless in Kitchen. Replaced a 10 year old Whirlpool which cleaned fine for it's age. We've had service out three times, during our first month for the same problem. Wash cycles are not filling ...
Pros: Quiet. Ran well for the time it worked. Looks stylish, makes good presentation Cons: Failed. Unreliable, appears unserviceable. Spare parts priced very high.
I had this expensive dishwasher for 2 years. Very quiet and ran well for this time. I thought I was purchasing a top of the line expecting at least a few good years of performance. How wrong I was! It just conked off a month ago. The GE service ...
Pros: Quiet and easy to load Cons: Electronics are unreliable and unit should have worked better for the price.
We bought this dishwasher because it matched our appliances and really looked great. We thought that GE had a quality brand and this was comparably priced to other brands. It had a stainless steel interior which held up well. We did not like the touch ...
Pros: It has resurrected some old baking dishes to almost new condition after one clean. Cons: None!
I love this dishwasher. It is very quiet, carries a good sized load and cleans the best I've ever seen. Crystal comes out sparkling and china shines as well. Everything sparkles after use with this machine.
This is the best all-around... by t-bone_dt3001 ,Jan 12 '03
This is the best all-around dishwasher I have ever seen.
I refurbed my kitchen myself, and the dishwasher was the hardest to install. However, this was my first time, I would be able to install faster next time.
I truly recommend this dishwasher to anyone. I went with all stainless steal GE profile appliances. Other than the refrigerator, the dishwasher is the nicest looking.
I bought this dishwasher because... by lori-jax_dt3000 ,Jan 17 '03
I bought this dishwasher because of the attractive stainless steel appearance and the full height door with a versatile rack system to hold your dishes. I am certainly happy with the look but I am disappointed with the noise level. This is not an inexpensive dishwasher and I wish I had spent the extra money to get the ultra-quiet Bosch. Too bad GE didn't go the extra mile and offer this model with a stainless steel interior. This would help with the soundproofing and does not stain or hold odors. It was also a bit difficult for us to install ourselves. Overall I am happy with the cleaning performance of the GE but every time I turn it on and hear the motor start I wish for the Bosch.
I've had this now for about 3 months. Very quiet, great looks, good cleaning. Pricey. I found one as a display model with a small dent but I paid only 50% of retail so I was happy with that. I'm not sure it's worth 800 or so, but then again I don't know if any of them are that great. You pay I think mainly for the looks. Anyway, cleans as expected, the racks are adjustable which I like and overall, for the price I paid I'm very pleased with the machine.
Pros: Attractive appearance. LED timer. Tall tub. Cons: Not loud, but not quiet either.
We bought this dishwasher to match our new GE Profile bottom freezer fridge. GE makes very nice looking products.
The dishwasher itself may only be slightly above average in cleaning ability and sound reduction, but it's much better than our old Frigidaire. I think some people need to double check their installation, because this model is not as loud as some people have been complaining. Drying, we have had no complaints at all. We don't even need to use the 'extra heat' function.
I do like the LED countdown on the control panel that tells you how long a cycle will take and what time is left.
This model does have a plastic tub, but a stainless steel tub is available for about $100 more on the next model up, however, you don't get the LED timer for whatever reason. We were fine with the plastic tub, the issues with odours and staining, in my opinion, are overhyped by sales staff. As well, if you ever drop a pot or dish on the stainless door liner, it dents very easily.
THE OLD WHIRLPOOL WORKED BETTER by han300 ,Jul 08 '09
Pros: Pretty Cons: Does not clean the dishes
Bought this GE profile dishwasher for a remodel job and it was a waste of money. It never cleans well and always leaves food particles on the dishes. Seems like GE did not put in a pump that puts out enough pressure to do the job. Had an old whirlpool that was 15 years old that came with the house. It did a much better job cleaning the fancy expensive GE.
Pros: LOOKS BEAUTIFUL WITH THE OTHER GE STAINLESS PRODUCTS IN THE HOUSE Cons: IT DOESN'T WORK AND I FEEL I AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM G.E.
WE BOUGHT A NEW HOUSE AND THE INTERIOR OF THE DISHWASHER
HAS YET TO BE DRIED OUT AND IT IS NOW 3 WEEKS. MY DISHES
ARE WET AND AT TIMES THE TOP OF THE DISHWASHER(GLASSES)
DON'T GET CLEAN AT ALL.FIRST THEY TOLD ME, I NEEDED JET DRY. I FINALLY HAD A REPAIRMAN OUT WHO TOLD ME AS LONG AS I COULD GET THE DISHES DRY,I SHOULD NOT WORRY AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO STAY WET INSIDE. WHAT ABOUT "MOLD"? NOW, DURING
THE CYCLE, IT IS MAKING A TERRIBLE NOISE. I AM HAVING THE
SUPERINTENDENT OF THE TRACT COME OUT TOMORROW AND HAVE THEM
SEE THE WET INTERIOR, THE DOOR IS ALWAYS WET WHEN YOU OPEN IT AND RUNS OVER THE DISHES. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL IN THE KITCHEN BUT I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED A CHEAPER MODEL THAT
WORKS.
Pros: Attractive, cleans well, lots of features Cons: Broke within months, Unable to get it fixed!!!
Attractive design, but broke after four months. It has been broken for over three weeks due to backlogs in service appointments. The technician "forgot" to order the part and made a second appointment without the part. I am waiting for a third appointment and hope it will be the charm.
Their call center drops calls, keeps us on hold for twenty minutes, etc.
We bought a $2500 washer and dryer this weekend and stayed away from GE because the service is so lousy.
Pros: The cutlery compartment allows individual pieces to be storged stand alone. Cons: Poor performance and unreliable.Very poor service.
We bought GE Profile dishwasher Model PWD7880GSS for our new home in January 2004 for our new home. To date it has not worked properly. It does not clean dishes despite trying all sorts of detergents and additives. We have called the GE repair service at least four times. Every time, the repairmen tried to tell us that we did not know how to operate properly, or the water temperature was too low. I showed him the water temperature was in fact, above the recommended 120 degree F when measured with a calibrated digital thermometer. He finally called the GE Engineering and found out that; there was in fact something wrong with this model. He ended up replacing at least four parts. Still the dishwasher did not work well. Several months later dishwasher quit working again. The GE repairmen again changed some parts.Despite our requests GE would not replace the model.
Pros: Quiet Cons: Doesn't clean well and very poor service
We bought a new house 3 weeks ago and it came with the dishwasher. We found it does not clean well at all. Now, it no longer opens and is holding our dishes hostage.
We called GE repair and they were of no help. They will only do repairs until 5:00. I told them I could be home by 4:00, but that wasn't good enough and said I needed to be home between 1:00 and 5:00. I feel they could of worked with me better on this. GE only cares about what is convenient for them.
If you don't mind the dishes not being cleaned well and if you don't work so you can be home for the repair man, this dishwasher is for you. Oh, you may want a spare set of dishes.
If you like dirty dishes.... by tiredofdishes ,Apr 10 '09
Pros: Pretty quiet, looks cool Cons: Nothing get's clean, very long cycles
This is the worst dishwasher we've ever owned. Bottle line - it doesn't wash the dishes. They come out dirtier than they went in. We've tried everything GE recommends - jet dry, different cycles, loading it with dirty dishes (they said it works better if the dishes are really dirty - Ha!). It's worthless and despite the fact that it's only 16 months old, we are buying a new one. Going to get either a KitchenAide or Kenmore because we've had good luck with those in the past. Wish us luck!
