The Whirlpool Experience
by sparkym ,Sep 25 '07
Pros: None Cons: Plastic Interior Stains, Poor Drying
This Whirlpool dishwasher plus other brands made by Whirlpool such as Kenmore, Kitchen Aid and Roper with plastic interiors are subject to stains. I replaced my 20 year old Whirlpool dishwasher that had a white porcelain steel interior that was just as white as the day I purchased it with this plastic toy. After 3 months of use, the interior was a brown orange color. After 10 months of multiple calls to "The Whirlpool Experience" help center and a visit from the service tech, I have given up and have decided to scrap this dishwasher. Whirlpool will only suggest ways to clean the interior. Clean a Dishwasher? Never cleaned my old one! What a mistake I made. There is a place for things made of plastic but a dishwasher interior is not one of them. I have had enough of "The Whirlpool Experience" they do not care.

gu1500XT Stay away from it
by bumpwhite ,Aug 31 '05
Pros: It runs quietly. Cons: It's a giant piece of crap.
We bought this piece of crap in December 2002. In September 2005 the motor burned out. This is Whirlpool's planned obsolescence. I contacted Whirlpool and they said, "Not under warrantee". They want $165 for a new motor plus $150 in labor. For a motor that only will last three years?
I wouldn't take a Whirlpool product if someone gave it me. What a giant piece of crap.

Terrible

Pros: Looks nice. Cons: Won't clean right. Takes forever to finish.
We've had this dishwasher for about 3-4 years. It replaced an old (very old) Whirlpool that had been doing a serviceable job but needed repair. Should have fixed it. This one worked OK for the first year or so, but we never felt the top rack got really clean. Over time the top rack started leaving residue or a grit like substance on glasses and bowls. Had repair man out and he said use less detergent, wait for hotter water, bla bla bla... No use. Now it doesn't clean bowls on top at all (to be repaired tomorrow).
For the money (it was one of the more costly at the time), I'd expect better cleaning. This unit has been a disappointment from day one. Sure it's quiet but it takes forever to clean (80 plus minutes), then does a poor job of it. Should have gotten a Kenmore.

I have had it for 3 months. four service calls. discolored interior, dirty dishes, 3.5 hour cycle times, burning smell, and 3 months of fighting with whirlpool to get it taken care of, they are finally buying it back.
