Pros: Attractive. Easy dial features. Cookbook with instruction. Cons: Convection & fast baking is not the best method for delicate items.
GE JVM1490 Microwave Oven We purchased the GE JVM1490 Profile Microwave/Convection Oven in February 2004 from Sears (the physical store). GE JVM1490 Profile Microwave/Convection Oven features. ~~ 900 Watts Microwave ...
Pros: Good looks, even cooking, many cooking features, many safety features. Cons: A bit complex due to its many features. Probably too complex for a child
I've had this microwave for several years and I just realized that I never did a review. Since I personally appreciate as many reviews on a product as I can find when I am shopping, I figured it is better late than never. When I was updating my ...
Pros: You'll seldom use your full-sized, regular oven again. Cons: Don't forget to remove the metal rack when using "straight" Microwave feature!
I recently purchased this wonderful product from Sears at just over $600.00 (on sale) to replace the mostly useless (oh so slow) and poorly performing (oh so weak) SpaceMaker microwave which I inherited with the house.
Pros: Sensor Cook is amazing! Holds 6 Dinner plates! Can bake in the microvave! Cons: Convection bake takes awhile, the sensor gets food warm but not HOT.
Summary
I bought a new house recently, and I opted to have my appliances upgraded from the standard ones to the GE profile set. I chose black on black, and the convection models. I must warn you, the manual is quite thick on this model due in...
Pros: Surface light and ventilation were good. More than adequate at cooking most items. Cons: Lacks durability.
Top of oven was difficult to clean.
Not Durable Used this for more than four years. It was acceptable in convection cooking and quite adequate in microwaving. However, I had several issues with it concerning durability. The door handle plastic broke near wear the screw were - ...
Pros: Clean lines and design. Microwave/convection/exhaust fan functions in one space. Beverage feature works well. Cons: Concerns about bulb burn-out rate. You can only dial cook times in 15-second increments.
I read in several forums how the whole unit needed to be removed to change the interior light bulb, and this is the GE Hotline advice as well. After taking a look at the assembly drawing, I figured out what to do. First (after you unplug the unit) ...
Needs Service Call to replace Oven light bulb by pdxmomntg ,Mar 11 '07
Pros: Powerful microwave. Stylish. Cons: Oven light bulb is not consumer replaceable.
We purchased this microwave in May 2005. In October 2006 the oven light bulb burned out. There is no way for the consumer to replace the light bulb themselves. I'm not willing to pay for a service call. Otherwise I've been happy with the performance of the microwave.
The convection features of this... by jodi1_dt3000 ,Jan 02 '03
The convection features of this product are terrible. It is slow to pre heat and between sheets of cookies you need to wait while it brings it up to temp again. VERY uneven baking, raw in some parts, over done in others. DON'T get this product. Buy a regular microwave or convection and save a few hundred.
Pros: Lots of features
Convention oven
Easy to use
Cons: Door cracking
A little hard to clean inside
After 3 years the door cracked in the lower left corner. A new one cost me $100.00 and I have no idea how long it will last. Should I buy one in advance just in case? How long will they make replacement doors? Not sure why the door cracked, but perhaps it is best not to use the convection too much if it cracked due to heat.
I bought it because it had convection and microwave. Otherwise I love it. Vents fine over my stove and the light is great.
GE did go wrong on this over the counter microwave oven by wkguy ,Dec 30 '05
Pros: Attractive on the outside. Cons: Slow to heat up, slow to cook, nasty to clean up...
This little nasty oven is next to impossible to keep clean after using the bake or fast bake settings....Further, how can you change the light bulb without removing the oven from the cabinet, a rather major endeavor....
My microwave stopped working less than a month after the warranty expired...a real bummer. Any idea what they charge for a service call....as it's built into the cabinet, expect to pay for two men...OUCH!
I find myself using a 1970's model GE countertop microwave that I fortunately never got around to disposing of rather than this modern klunker.....
Don't waste your money on this oven. Buy a cheap over the counter microwave for a couple of hundred dollars and invest in a good countertop toaster oven if you have to have a small conventional oven to cook with.
This is the first GE product I've purchased in years that the manufacture didn't bug the heck out of me to purchase their extended warranty....now I know why.
