Pros: easy to operate, heats well, allows to adjust time during cooking Cons: vent doesn't really do anything, black shows fingerprints and smudges
With my new house in New Hampshire, the one thing Id done in New York that I wanted to carry through to the new home was putting the microwave over my stove. I liked it right from the moment we started doing this as I liked having the extra counter ...
Pros: none Cons: technicians can't repair it, turns on automatically, works very intermittently
Do not buy this microwave. We have had a Maytag repair guy out 6 times in the past 2 years to service it. They have basically swapped out all button panels, boards, and internal parts leaving only the shell. Yet still the microwave operates randomly ...
This equipment came standard with my new house. I have very limited requirement for my microwave, so I didn't really look into it that much. It did it's job fine for about 18 month. It was powerful, the basic function where handy. I usually got the ...
Pros: it's black Cons: repairmen lie to you, it's a lemon
In March, 2005, we purchased a GE over-the-stove microwave from the store. We had it professionally installed by the store. We purchased an extended warranty contract directly with GE, not a third party. This microwave acted up from the beginning; when ...
Pros: Great features. Second model I have had in the Spacemaker XL group. Cons: Not reliable if it fails in only 2-1/2 years. Software glitch?
It worked fine until it quit. Twice now in the past few months it stopped warming food. A power cycle solved the problem the first time. It doesn't seem to solve the problem now. GE-How about a five year warranty to prove your quality!!!
This is what discourages folks from American Corporate products. Look what's happening to Ford & GM.
GE Microwaves are Junk - Do not Buy by nnunna ,Jun 26 '07
Pros: Its junk Cons: X
In the past 3 yrs I have had two GE spacemaker microwaves burn out on me in two different houses(not an electrical issue in my house). I have friends who have had the same problems.
Pros: It will be fun to sledgehammer in the middle of the street Cons: I lose vacation each time a repairman comes out due to GE.
Got this microwave with my new home on 12/17/2007 and the first one didn't work. It was replaced by the builder with a swap out - no details on the problem.
Random events of the blower starting and stopping "due to heat up from the stove" says the repair man. I say screwed up electrical boards.
On 3/22/2008 unit stops heating food. Repairman arrives on 3/28/2008 and says its the magnatron and it is on back order with additional 455 other folks. Luckily I still have the panasonic counter model that has never failed and just works.
Thanks Jack Welch where's your stock now. American back stabbing sob.
Pros: None. Cons: do not even think of buying this microwave.
Our's also was a builder installed microwave. After 14 mos. it didn't work right. Asked for a new one because my neighbor had her's replaced under the warranty. But GE tech said he fixed every part that could go wrong. 5 mos. later everything is working except it doesn't microwave. Warranty expired 2 weeks before so GE said too bad. Goodbye GE.
