Pros: Sleek good looks, Performance Cons: Have Not Found Any
I had my last microwave since 1985. It also was a Whirlpool. I did not trade it in because it was broke but because I thought it was time since I was beginning to feel it was getting to be a little out of style. Since the old one lasted so long, it...

Pros: Lots of features, most of which we never used. Cons: Very expensive, especially given the 18 month lifespan.
We spent a lot of money upgrading to this microwave when building our new house. We very happy with it, right up until it simply stopped heating at 18 months. Called Whirlpool to get a service contact. All of them were quite far away, except for A&E Factory Service, which is Sears. Apparently there is a relationship between Whirlpool and this company, as they will connect you directly with one button. The technician discovered that the inverter board had failed, "probably due to a power surge." Somehow this mysterious surge failed to blow any of 3 fuses in the oven, and also ignored a plethora of electronic gear throughout the house. Cost to repair - $360. This would allow further diagnosis to determine what else was wrong! We opted to replace it with a Panasonic, since a 10-year old Panasonic filled in while it was down. That turned out to be a very good option, as the Panasonic cooks much better.
