Pros: Lots of features, easy to use and keep clean. Cons: The radiant surface can be dangerous for children
In the last year since I wrote a review of WhirlpoolRange I bought a new one. The one I chose is the General Electric GE Spectra 30 in. Free-Standing QuickClean Electric Range JBP66 which I am reviewing....
Pros: smooth cook-top, accurate cooking in the oven, easy to use, easy to clean Cons: glass cook-top can get scratched or damaged
When we bought our new house, I knew I wanted a smooth-top range. I was really happy with the range wed purchased for our house in new York and wanted the same benefits Id enjoyed with my old one. Since I was making the purchase through the ...
Pros: recessed cooktop to contain spills, digital controls Cons: none
This is by far the best range I've ever owned. I have the white/black model. The control area, cooktop, and oven door are black and the frame (metal part) is white.
I love the cooktop. It's recessed and sealed to the frame so boil-overs and...
Pros: Holds large spills, evenly cooks on range and in oven, timed-bake feature. Cons: Scraping cooktop after spills, oven light not automatic.
We purchased this range six months ago when the door fell off of our 20-year-old oven. I am so glad that happened! After much research, my husband and I chose this GE model. I knew I wanted the radiant range and this GE has been a joy to work with. ...
Pros: Overall a good stove, but not for real chefs(or wannabee) Cons: slow to change heat adjustment on ceramic surface.
Pretty stove. Clean lines. However, I find it to be an inferior choice for cooking. It was a choice between the flat-top stove or a gas model. Cleaning the surface made the ceramic GE very appealing. However, the daily cooking on it left a lot to be ...
Best appliance I've bought so far by ace_mclean ,Jul 22 '04
Pros: Nice smoothtop, efficient, easy to clean Cons: Rear elements a little too close to back of stovetop
It heats up quickly, and maintains temperature nicely. The smoothtop is easy to clean, the controls are nice, and the self-cleaning works great. Couldn't be more happy with this purchase.
GE JBP66 range - very bad design!! by tiffcebe ,Mar 11 '08
Pros: Great stove - fast heating large oven. Easy to keep the stove top clean. Cons: Must remove oven door to clean between the glass :-(
Great range - until you spill something on the front of this stove! Should that happen - the entire door assembly MUST be removed! This is nothing more than a design ERROR on the part of GE. No seals at all - so anything that gets between the glass - you have some work to do it get it clean. Nothing like having to completely remove the door, remove some screws, then get the glass sections apart so you can spend some quality time trying to get whatever caused the stain to get off the glass! Just had a repair rep from GE spend about 3 hours working on my stove for that reason - and the stove is only a year old.
Dangerous, Mfg Defect that caused dangerous fumes and a repair in less than 3 years. by bboeri ,Dec 21 '06
Pros: Styling and price, although that doesn't balance the quality issues I experienced. Cons: Dangerous fumes from internal wire insulation burning, then a repair.
I have owned this range for less than 3 years. After the 1-year warranty expired, we started smelling a plastic smell. We thought it was something on the range or oven. No, it wasn't. It was wiring internal to the stove smoldering, and finally destroying the "control unit." When that happened the panel dials lit but neither the oven nor the range top burners would heat. There is no way that we (or any consumer) could have caused this problem.
I called GE service and admitted I didn't have an extended warranty. They said that they'd have someone come to repair the range in 8 days (from Dec 20!). I had a local repair service come today, and they fixed it. I cancelled the appt. with GE and they thanked me for cancelling the service appt. on my gas range (they didn't even get the details right).
So if you own one of these and smell insulation burning, get it looked at immediately. If you're looking at new electric ranges, consider something else.
Pros: easy to clean
cooks and bakes with perfection Cons: not as attractive as other types
When we bought our house, this was the appliance that was in the kitchen. It is the best stove/oven I have ever owned and my last one was a gas Jennair--which I hated because it was a difficult to clean. This one cooks well, better than gas and is so much cleaner. It is easy to clean.
GE JBP66 Electric Kitchen Range by olecrazylady ,Apr 20 '05
Pros: easy to clean
easy to see dials/knobs
easy to use, not complicated Cons: Ovens lower heating element went out and difficult to find replacement
The new range came with the new home. I luv it. At first I didn't like the burners as they could burn someone unaware that they had just been used. Mine has a light to warn of a warm/hot burner. Over all it is great, heats quickly. Is much easier to use than gas, easy to control cooking level,
very easy to cleanup and keep clean, even when teenage sons cook.
Oven bakes evenly and throughly. Knobs are easy to use (even with arthritis)Controls are easy to see.
Only bad thing I have encountered, lower heating element in oven lit up like a sparkler/burned out. And element is hard to find. Otherwise no other problems.
Pros: Glass cook top is easy to clean. Large oven and self cleaning. Cons: Small bottom storage drawer that seems a little flimsy.
I've had this range for over a year now and have no complaints. I bought this range because of the good reviews and the price. All the features work properly and all are easy to use. I did have to read the manual to figure out how to set the timers and the clock. My old stove had dials and not push buttons like this stove. I like the oven preheat alert. When the oven is done preheating, the oven beeps at you. The only thing I think is a little flimsy is the storage drawer at the bottom, but almost all ranges now have small flimsy drawers.
Pros: clean look, bakes and cooks great, cleans up easily Cons: the oven could preheat a little faster.
This range is very easy to clean, and I love the self cleaning oven, I had never had a new kitchen stove, this is my first one, the smooth top burners, make the top look clean at all times, I also love the fact that you don't have to replace burner bowls every time you turn around.
This freestanding electric range features a generous 5.3 cu. ft. oven capacity for cooking large meals. The ceramic-glass cooktop offers a smooth surf...More at Best Buy ®
