Pros: Great selection of stitches; three one-step button holes. You'll never avoid buttonholes again! Cons: Doesn't do well with thick fabrics. Fussy bobbin area.
I buy sewing machines the way I buy cars. I buy a the model with the most features that I can possibly afford then drive it, drive it, drive it until it refuses to move any longer. I can’t afford to get a new model every time I see some whiz bang ...

Pros: Computerized. Easy To Use, Even For A Sewing Novice. 50 Stitches. Sewing Speed Control.
Cons: Plastic satin stitch foot breaks easily. The pressure foot lifter does not stay up.
I have been sewing for 40 years and am considered to be a sewing expert. Before buying my first Janome, I had a top of the line Kenmore for 27 years that I used until the foot control (it's what you step on to make the machine go) went out, summer of ...

Pros: easy to use, great stitches, automatic threader, runs quiet and is very dependable. Cons: Touchy bobbin area and has a harder time with thick fabrics.
After shopping around for a sewing machine I decide to buy the Janome from Sears. The sales associate helped me compare different models of Singer and Janome. I noticed that the base line of Singer did not offer many stitches and did not have an ...

Great Machine!!
by donason ,Jan 26 '05
Pros: Easy to use, needle up/down button, variety of stitches, Janome, top loading bobbin, digital(love this) Cons: Unscrew left part of body to open. Most machines just open. Not a big deal though.
I purchased this machine from Sears because of their great service and because it was a Janome. The name speaks for itself. I hope it lives up to my expectations. I am a quilter and love so far it's features. It has a blanket stitch which is very hard to find on most entery level Kenmore and other machines. It is an important fancy stitch to quilters or people that like to do applique sewing. I love the needle up and down button the most with this machine. Your needle never comes unthreaded. It has been a great purchase and would highly recommend this machine to anyone. If your a beginner sewer this machine is also perfect because it is so easy to use, thread, etc. If your more advanced you will love the stitches it offers and the smooth sewing it provides.
Enjoy!

I just bought this machine, I was considering a different machine from Target, but people kept giving it bad reviews. So I decided on this machine and I am glad, it runs very smoothly and works great.

A really great sewing machine.
by borganic ,Jun 25 '05
Pros: Nice stitching and stitch patterns. Easy to use. Great accessory package.Quiet, well made. Cons: None: <I wish they would have included a video user guide.>
I am really happy with this machine. I have two mechanical machines besides this one and I find this to be the most quiet and efficient machine. The stitch quality is fantastic. I tried out the 3050 Decor Computerized machine also from Janome which had the exact same stitches and features as this one but the price was $499.99 while the 8080 was $299.99. I am so glad I bought this machine. The accessories that came with this machine are impressive. I was able to figure out the auto needle threader and had no problems with the drop in bobbin on my first try.(If I can do it, you can too!) The stitch selection is easy to use and I could tell after sewing a few things that this machine was very well made. This would make a wonderful learning model and also a great choice for established sewers of all skill levels.
