Pros: Value Engineered cleaner with space age suction, well equipped Cons: Noisier than Concorde taking-off, lacking only the sonic boom!
Hoover Upright Vacuum – Windtunnel Supreme Model U5453900
INTRODUCTION:
With a vacuum cleaner purchase, you definitely get what you pay for…good or bad. The Hoover Windtunnel Supreme is a value priced performer available in a number...
Pros: One of the most powerful vacuums. Quiet and easy to use. Cons: Very heavy. Has a short hose.
Impressed by the commercials that we saw for the Hoover WindTunnel vacuum cleaners when they made their debut in 1997, we considered buying one and replacing it for our 20 year old Hoover Convertible upright, which still lies in our basement.
Pros: Cleans carpets exceptionally well; washable filters; long power cord Cons: Aggressive on carpets; noisy; suction through hose diminishes; tips while using tools
I acquired this Hoover WindTunnel upright vacuum about three years ago. It was already three years old; the former owner (a friend) decided she needed a fancy Dyson. In return for helping her remove a cacophony of arachnids and their mess ...
This is only my second vacuum cleaner, my previous one was also a Hoover.
I found the WindTunnel U5453-900 very easy to assemble. The instructions were very clear, and I don't consider myself mechanically-inclined.
The first thing I noticed...
Pros: Good cleaning power. Cons: Extremely loud, many small operating annoyances and questionable quality.
My 20 year old Hoover Spirit canister was getting tired and was ready for replacement. With the Spirit being such an excellent machine I thought the next choice of another Hoover was a no brainer. I am overall quite disappointed with this machine that ...
Pros: Vacuum strength, dirt indicator Cons: Construction, non retracting cord
I bought this model based on recommendations. Initially I was impressed by the vacuum capability and enjoyed the novelty of the dirt indicator light. But with increased usage, I have really become irritated with the construction: the plastic lid over the...
First year: Plastic lid over the hose attachment falls out. Nothing works to keep it in place, seems like the plastic hinge split apart. Tool compartment lid keeps falling off too. My wife makes few passes over the long cord ( not Hoovers fault), ...
Pros: Looks nice and it works fine (so far) with the modified blade. Cons: Cheap blade construction.
We had a Hoover vacuum cleaner that was 10 years old and it finally broke. I could have fixed it but decided that since it was 10 years old, we'd just go out and get a new one. Since the Hoover lasted so long we went to Sears and bought a new Hoover ...
Pros: Impressive suction, affordable, extra long cord, can go from carpet to bare floor. Cons: Heavy and bulky, too powerful for throw rugs.
I've owned my WindTunnel for a couple years now so can say with confidence that it is a vacuum with powerful suction. I feel like even the most embedded dirt is getting sucked up. The power hand tool works great for getting up pet hair on upholstery ...
Pros: lightweight, easy attachments, practically self-propelled. Cons: Not bagless, noisy
This vacuum makes cleaning fun! It is very lightweight and cleans the floor quite well. It has a red and green light on it which lets you know when the floor is clean. The red light lights up when the floor is still dirty and the green light comes on...
Pros: Cheap price compared to a Kirby, but you get what you pay for. Cons: Everything else!
I have had this vacuum for about three years. It gets very little use because I also have a Kirby, almost 20 years old, that runs circles around this plastic piece of junk. What do I hate? The list goes on and on - short hose, stiff power cord that falls ...
Pros: Very strong suction. Loved the embedded dirt finder. Cons: Very loud, faulty on-off switch (caught on fire).
Very loud, faulty on-off switch....
I have always owned Hoover vacuums. Never had any problems until I bought this vacuum. I loved the powerful suction and embedded dirt finder. My carpet was dirtier than I thought when I turned on the embedded dirt finder. The first month the vacuum worked great and then I started having problems with it. It was in the shop for repairs more than I had it the first year. The on-off switch went bad and it caught on fire. It is torn up now.... the switch again!! I am very disappointed with this model. I am considering trying Dirt Devil. Their products have a longer warranty so they must be alright vacuums.
Pros: good suction, never had any problems until the day it blew up. Cons: Attachment hose to short, lid broke off. Longevity. Bag was hard to replace.
My hoover Wind Tunnel was great while it lasted. It worked for a year and a half. Even had it professionally cleaned after a year. Vacuum blew up, motor shot. Oh well should have lasted longer than that! It worked great, no problems, although i do wish the attachment hose was longer.

Pros: excellent vacuum capabilities for wall to wall carpeting and floors. Cons: Too difficult to transfer new rubber band to machine
I bought the vacuum about 2 years ago and have liked its operation very much inspite of its noise and weight. Mine is self-propelled and I don't have a lot of stairs to vacuum though the accessories can take care of that kind of cleaning. However, I made the mistake of never changing the height and sometimes going over a small area rug, it would get caught and have to be pulled out. Doing this repeated puts wear on the large rubber band that does the propelling.
I tried calling the help line all day and it was constantly busy. The instructions just says "with great effort" you must put on a new band. It was impossible for us poor mortals. I researched on the internet but couldn't find any 'smart' way to do it. Finally I took it to a repair shop and yes "with great effort" he used his thumbs to move it on. This is a real design flaw. It's not user friendly to an average, in good health housewife.
Pros: strong suction, does clean hardwood well Cons: Stupid plastic parts break; attachments fall off; heavy; short hose
I thought this was a good machine. It did seem to clean and although it is a bit heavy, it isn't unreasonable. I have had it for 2+ years and now have to find another one. The belts have broken which aren't a big deal to fix but the plastic parts have got to go. My adjustment for rug height is broken and now is on super strong suck. the dirt sensor broke a long time ago.
Not the best machine for its money. Oh and the hose is WAY too short. It is so much fun when you are trying to clean and the hose is too short and a 25 pound machine falls on your foot.
