Pros: QUIET! easy to use, saves on the amount of water used. Cons: Becomes easily unbalanced, lengthy cycle times
The reason I call this a "1 load a day washer" is the amount of time consumed to wash a load of clothes. Also, the main reason I bought this machine is because I thought it was cool and innovative.
The machine itself is easier to use than a...

Pros: Front loading, Quiet, easy to use, unbelievably clean cloths, handsome and modern design Cons: Special detergent recommended, pricey
Our 14 year old Kenmore washer & dryer were on borrowed time. The gears in the dial were stripping so it was getting difficult to start the thing. We also were having to increasingly rerun the spin cycle since it wasn't purging all the water the first tim ...

Pros: This machine will save you money on your water and electric bills Cons: A lot of bells and whistles that can go wrong
I’ve had my Maytag Neptune washer now for a little over a year. My wife fought me tooth and nail to buy the beast, mainly because of the $900.00 price tag, but I finally won out. A grand victory, well, maybe at the time, now I’m not 100% sure. This ...

Pros: Extremely quiet, dramatic savings in water Cons: Occasional high speed vibration, higher priced than most. Dies just after warranty expires!
After 18 years it was time to replace our washer. It was starting to wear out the clothes and we were going to replace the dryer (check out my review of the mate to this unit, the Neptune dryer: ...

Pros: Automated bleach and softener dispenser. Quiet. Cons: Breaks down. Takes too long. Doesn't save money.
UPDATE: 10-12-2004. I received a notice for Class Action in the mail last week against Maytag for some of the problems I experienced below. The class action specifically names the motor control board, door gasket, and door solenoid. I didn't join in ...

Pros: Dependable, uses less water and less energy, gentle, takes large loads Cons: Near top of the line is expensive
IN THE BEGINNING: I found my self in the interesting position of being required to replace my washer, stove and refrigerator all at the same time. (You might check out my other reviews of the refrigerator and stove). So, I bit the bullet ...

Pros: Large tub Cons: Poor quality and performance.
Do not buy a Maytag till they restore their quality! I tried three Neptunes - and after 3 I said "no more!" Each replacement machine got worse. Does this mean they are sending you refurbished models or seconds? The expensive Neptune has the same ...

Pros: $$ saving, easy to understand, quick, and does the job great! Cons: Pricey, would like the washer to be a little larger
Update:
Boy, as a person that is new to giving reviews, I am finding epinions very tough to swallow. I am not a professional spec writer, I am an average person, who is just typing off the top of my head my experiences. The things that are...

Pros: Clean clothes, trouble-free. Actually fun to use. Cons: Expensive
When we sold our house we left all of the appliances, so we had to buy new ones when we moved into our new house. My husband saw the Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer and had to have them. I thought he was nuts given the price. I also feared that with...

Pros: Super capacity Cons: No "give" on the price; constantly has to self-balance; twists pant legs into unbelievable knots
Easy to use, nice looking and seems to do a great job of getting clothes clean... but I see quite a few drawbacks. But I would guess that I might have these same complaints of any front-loading machine.
My biggest gripe is the way my pants...

Pros: Quiet, lots of choices for cycles, never goes out of balance Cons: Flawed design, hard to repair
I was so excited when I purchased my Maytag Neptune washer and dryer a little over a year ago. Like some other reviewers I had anticipated cleaner clothes, gentler treatment of clothes, as well as energy efficiency savings. I had read about the "mildew...

Pros: It saved a very expensive, mildewed ski jacket with one washing. Cons: Knarled clothes tied in knots; needs special soap, doesn't level right, smells like potting soil.
Last September 2002, my husband purchased Maytag's Neptune Washer and Dryer pair when our old dryer ...
