Pros: economical, saves on space, cleans great, quiet Cons: not a beauty to look at
When shown our townhouse the landlady assured us that the supplied washer/dryer was "extraordinary and would delight" me. I'm not one to believe everyone right off so I nodded and smiled. I personally didn't care if the appliance would...
Pros: At least we don't have to go to the laundromat. Cons: Two people shouldn't have to wash clothes this often.
I guess I shouldn't complain -- we're renting and I suppose we're lucky to not have to go to the laundromat. However, our last apartment had a huge washer/dryer combo so when we transferred to a new city it was something we wanted in our new apartment....
i purchased a condo two years ago with this unit already installed new. It is just my little boy and me in the place so i didnt think that washing laundry in this unit would be such an issue but i was wrong! while it was under warrenty, the rocker arm holding up the washer basket broke 2x. i do not overload the unit, i at most put the equivalent to two medium size towels in it on average. we are about to approach our two year mark with this thing next month and the rocker arm is breaking again. this time it isnt under warranty and will cost more than $400 to fix. i have had nothing but problems out of this unit and it shrinks all of my clothes, so i dont even use the dryer that often. not to mention that the washer is a pain to get laundry in and out of. if you are contemplating buying this unit i would highly suggest something else more energy efficient, reliable, and quieter.
My bout with the stacked washer/dryer by travelauthor ,Apr 30 '09
Pros: The washer/dryer combo fit into my small condo space. Cons: The washer-dryer is badly designed.
I had to replace my GE washer/dryer in my condo and could not find an exact fit. Ended up with a Whirlpool with a rackety washer and dryer with a lint filter in the back! Read the whole story at: http://www.Associatedcontent.com/article/1580896/uncivil_engineering.html
Pros: None. It isn't small, quiet or efficient and it doesn't clean well. Cons: Loud, harsh on clothes, difficult to load (washer),requires two drying cycles on most loads.
I'm astonished that anyone could like this product. I moved into a condo that had one--It's only a couple of years old. The machine's shredded one blanket and put holes in several sets of sheets before I'd realized what was happening.
I've looked into other machines. Most of the high efficiency machines are, believe it or not, smaller. I've got a small closet that the washer is in. I was worried that I'd need to widen the door to get something full-sized (stackable) into the space, but that isn't the case.
It's noisy, too. It is in a closet between the bedrooms. If I start a load before going to bed, I have to listen to it grind away as it rattles the whole second floor. It would be nice if I could disable the dryer alarm, but no such luck.
As if shredding weren't enough, the dryer is weak. It takes at least two cycles to dry anything substantial. Think about how that will affect your energy bill.
