Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer

Pros:

The machine does not change color (that's the only positive thing I can think of)

Cons: Shreds clothing. Pumps break and need to be replaced
Goes off balance often.

We've had this machine fixed so many times! After the first repair - 6 months after purchase, we purchased the extended warranty - we've had at least 9 repairs in 6 years. Because of the warranty we haven't purchased a new machine. I am now sitting in a stinky house because this machine will not drain! It shreds my clothes. I can't afford a new machine but Sears will not consider this a lemon. The service I've received on this is nothing short of abismal. Each repair man has told me this machine is a dog. How do I get Sears to replace this machine? They say they will replace it after 4 repairs in 12 months. I always just miss that mark. Help?

Bought both the washer and dryer.  Worst I have ever had.  Washer needed major repair after 3.5 years (thank goodness is was still under warranty).  The dryer has never worked correctly.  Sensor never works and it now leaves rust stains on our clothing.

We bought this washer & matching dryer because Consumer Reports said it was among the best and it saved water & electricity.  After a few months it started turning itself on in the middle of the night.  We named it Christine.  The local Whirlpool/Sears repairman did not have a clue about this, but after fighting with them for several weeks they replaced the top control panel.  Then clothes started getting stuck under the gasket at the bottom of the tub.  The repairman showed me how to take the agitator off in case that happened again, and of course it did. 
Then it quit draining and we replaced a pump which lasted a few months.  Rather than replacing the pump again, I replaced the washer.  The dryer still works ok.
