Pros: Nothing stands out. Cons: Buildup of scum around top of drum (smell?), easily clogged drain pump.
We bought this thing from Sears. Large capacity and energy efficiency were the draws. Not long after using, my wife pointed out that our clothes were consistently twisted (especially sleeves) to the point that they got stretched longer. Almost sounds ...

Pros: None. Machine looks nice, but performs badly. Cons: Tears clothes; ruins towels. Steer clear.
I bought this machine based on a Consumer Report's recommendation, ignoring my normal rule of never buying first or second generation products using new technologies. I liked the look, I liked the water and energy savings. Worst machine ever. We ...

Pros: NONE Cons: EVERYTHING
Purchased this machine in 2001 from Sears after having a Whirlpool for more than ten years. I liked the fact that it had no agitator and held large loads. Thank goodness I took the maintenance agreement for five years. I have had the same problems most ...

Pros: I have not found a single one Cons: Great in beginning, but I promise it will be the purchase you will always regret.
My mother purchased this machine 7/2001 for me as a gift, used it for a few months (which was far from being as grand as it was stated to be by the salesman at Sears), transferred with my job, washer ended up in storage for 14 months. Since then I have ...

Pros: Easy on fabrics, easy touchpad controls Cons: Questionable durability...
We bought this washer in September of 2002. I chose it primarily for the low water consumption, as we have a private water supply and our well had gone very low that fall. At first it took some adjusting to, however I've grown to like the machine. ...

Pros: None Cons: Very poor design,no lint trap, ties clothes in knots,Spreads dirt to next load.
We bought the machine because it was touted as the latest technology and was supposed to be ecological (less water, etc.) The problem is that the washer does not clean cloths and in fact damages them. It is a fundamental design flaw. Whirlpool settled ...

Pros: The clothes do get wet. Cons: Damages cloths, pump is cheaply designed, bleach spotting.
We purchased a Calypso washer from Sears thinking we were getting a machine that was a big improvement over our old one. WRONG! Since we purchased the machine about 1 year ago we have already had a repair man out to fix it once. Then it began ...

Pros: Attractive. Energy efficient; conserves water and utilities. Cons: Expensive. Lint plugs return flow. Light clothing rips and tears.
Advertising attracted us to buy the Calypso set. After 2 weeks, our clothes were being ruined and we were afraid to continue using the machine. We arranged for a return to Sears. Lint collects in the mouth of the water return port, and finds its way...

Pros: Looks and quiet Cons: Destroyed towels, wrinkled clothes, did not clean on delicate cycle, leaks
We purchased our Whirlpool Calypso on 5-3-05. Approximately 1 month after purchase, I called Whirlpool customer service and asked if they had received any complaints on the Calypso washer shredding towels. Whirlpool denied any complaints, and ...

Pros: None Cons: Stains clothes, mold grows inside machine, stretches and wrinkles clothes, excessive wear of clothes
I too purchased this machine based on the wonderful write up on it in Consumer Reports. This is the biggest mistake I have ever made in terms of a consumer purchase. From day one, the machine has left random grey streaks on the clothes that are ...

Pros: Looks nice.
Cool looking control panel. Cons: Doesn't work! Clothes get caught under juicer. Sears has LOUSY service! Bad technology.
I felt compelled to write a review also if I can save anyone the aggravation we suffered. Lasted ONE WASH! Sears' is selling these en masse at their "Scratch/Dent" outlets by the bucketful! What's sad is I didn't suspect why there were so many... I ...

Pros: Washes fine using Stain Treat, and Extra rinse mode followed by a rinse and spin. Cons: This machine is as reliable as a dirty politician.
I have owned a Calypso Machine since 2001. Yes we got it when it was the newest thing out. It's a Kenmore Elite Calypso. I never buy service agreements, but decided that I better for this machine because it's so complex. First off it doesn't wash ...

Pros: Easy to load, stainless tub, fast spin speed Cons: Digital Controls, Complicated mechanicals, bleach stains, grease stains, mold/mildew growth.
At first, our Calypso was great. We bought it back in 2001 because we do cloth diapers and wanted the best cleaning washer we could get. For two years it washed well, but we discovered several design flaws along the way that makes the Calypso a real ...

Pros: Pretty to look at. Cons: Damaging to clothes, doesn't clean, damages darks, bleach spotting, unbelievable wrinkling.
We bought this piece of garbage almost three years ago. We were told that it would use less water, be gentle on our clothes and clean better than our old machine. Well, almost immediately, it started eating our towels. I don't own a single, unfrayed ...

Pros: It will be the best looking machine at the dump! Cons: stains clothes, ruins clothes, stinks, doesn't clean, leaves residue, sucks every possible way
I would agree with all the other negative reviews on this washer. If it were possible, I would give it negative-stars! This machine has been a thorn in my side since we bought it in 2003, when we built our new home. I wish I could have my old washer ...
