Pros: The matching dryer that I bought works great! Cons: Doesn't clean well. $1200 washing machines should have a longer working life than 5 years.
We bought the Calypso for $1200 5 years ago based on the fallacious sales pitch that it was large capacity and gentler on clothes, etc. It does hold a little more than our 20-something year old former washer, but not enough to justify the price ...

Pros: Large capacity, many wash cycles to choose from, detergent, bleach, and fabric softener dispensers, timer. Cons: Numerous break downs, bad smell, ruins clothes, leaks oil, very noisy
We've had a Calypso washer for about 7 years. We bought it because it was highly rated by a leading consumer magazine (you know which one). I lost track of how many times the first Calypso had to have it's pump replaced. Finally, after 2 years, they ...

I bought this washer b/c of all the wonderful ads (which have since disappeared...hmmmm???) saying it did an awesome job cleaning clothes using less water, detergent and energy! While there are many handy features such as a cycle for bulky items, ...

Pros: Excellent job of cleaning, efficient, uses less soap. Cons: REPAIRS WITH WHIRLPOOL ARE TROUBLE!!! HE detergent hard to find.
For the first year and a half, I loved this washing machine. It did a great job of cleaning my husband's, the mechanic, clothes. He even noticed that they were cleaner. Used less water. Had great variety of cycles, etc. My complaint is that when...

Pros: None Cons: Dysfunctional, inept, unreliable junk.
We bought the Calypso as the Sears Kenmore Elite about two years ago, believing it was a happy medium between conventional top loaders and the slightly more expensive front loaders. From the onset, this machine has thrown error codes and won't complete ...

Pros: Easy, quiet, large capacity. Cons: Twists clothes, ours broke down just outside of warranty.
We bought the Calypso just over a year ago. My main complaint with this unit is that it twists clothes, which can damage the clothing, causes extreme wrinkling if the clothing is not tumble-dried, and at the very least requires me to shake out each item...

Pros: Nothing Cons: Leaky machine that stained my ceramic tile.
Irreparable after 3 1/2 years
WE bought this washer & dryer when we moved into our new home in 2001. It received rave reviews from Consumer Reports. We wanted a high efficiency washer without an agitator. It was between this one, or a Maytag Neptune. Since the Calypso was a ...

Pros: Not a one Cons: expensive, lemon, What ever happened to companies standing behind their Name?
We were also talked into the Calypso washer and dryer, $1600. I will have to say the dryer is wonderful. But I wouldn't give the washer to my worst enemy. I noticed a leak under the washer a while back, husband investigated but could find no leak, ...

Pros: Ummm ... none! Cons: It doesn't clean clothes and it is worthless.
I bought my Calypso a couple years ago. We live in Colorado and were in the middle of a drought so I thought I would do my part and buy this energy efficient, water conserving wash machine. What a JOKE!! It may use less water than a "normal" washing ...

Pros: saves water and detergent. Lots of cycle choices. Cons: Sensitive machine, service calls are likely.
This machine has many cycles short and long, very gentle to very thorough. You can have two rinses, extended spin, longer or shorter wash time, temperature control of wash and rinse, buzzer or no buzzer at the end, etcetera. If you like control and if ...
