Pros: Not a lot to say, when working it does an adequate, if not outstanding, job. Cons: Breaks down frequently Problems with lint and pump failure. Parts availability.
I purchased this model of washer because I was told it was among the best available at the time(June 200), and I got a good price on the set of washer and matching dryer. I purchased the 5 year service contract as well which has turned out to be the best ...

Pros: gentle action was great, good buttons etc. EXCEPT IT NEEDS A WATER LEVEL CHOICE! Cons: NEEDS MORE WATER FLOW, MORE WATER LEVELS & a moldy smell
Concept is WONDERFUL... Action is AWFUL... I have 3 giant trash bags of ruined clothes (streaks, rips, bleach bloops) and a moldy smell that my mom could smell as she came any one of us came in her door...it was our clothes... she would rewash and it ...

Pros: Uses less water Cons: Leaves dirt deposits in folds of clothes, leaves soap film, uses too little water
I bought the Whirlpool Calypso Model GVW9959KQ which is almost exactly like this one using the same technology. I do a lot of laundry and needed to save some money. Well, boy was I disappointed. I noticed first that my light colored washcloths were...

Pros: Great ideas, too bad poor parts and design flaws keep it from fulfilling the promise Cons: Expensive Lemon, not tested well before release to market.
I bought this machine after doing my homework with Consumer Reports. Pros: High capacity, Energy star rated,Temp Control System,,Triple Dispenser w/ smart bleach (YIKES, this is a problem), Fabric Softener and Detergent. Multiple Automatic Cycles ...

Pros: Great washes w/ HE detergent, lots of options for washing cycles, sleek look Cons: Rips clothes, likes to pull loops out of towels, clogging of the water pump
My review is basically the same as the one before it. I made the unlucky decision of buying this washer. During the first 3 months I had no problems and loved this washer & matching dryer. However, when I washed my bathroom rug ( it has a lot of loops ) ...

Pros: Quiet, capacity, energy efficiency, clean performance. Cons: Broken down after 6 years from normal use (two to three loads once a week)!
We got the Whirlpool Calypso washer (a top loader machine without the agitator) & dryer on August 5, 2001. It's a replacement of a conventional Whirlpool, which lasted for 14 years without any problems and repairs. But we decided that it was time to get ...

Pros: capacity Cons: stains, doesn't clean, bad pumps, all without a fix.
A responsible maker would have recalled all of these machines. There are design flaws that result in numerous problems. The pump was redesigned, but owners were not notified or sent the replacement. Now after replacing the pump it kind of works,we don't ...

Pros: None Cons: Expensive, repair ridden, leaks bleach ruins clothes
We purchased our Calypso washer in July 2004. The only reason I purchased such as expensive machine ($875) was because it had a high rating from Consumer Reports. After only four months the agitator in the center of the machine kept falling off. We ...

Pros: Sorry, even the pretty package doesn't do it for me. Cons: False advertisement but a one-person-who-doesn't-get-clothes-dirty washer with a big price.
Bottom line: DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK! It doesn't matter if you have a warranty! Whirlpool apparently doesn't have the parts to fix it anyway! I bought the set in Jan 07. After 3 days of use, I tried to return my Calypso set to Rex's Appliance ...

Pros: For the brief time it worked, it worked. Cons: Once it breaks down (and it will), it is unfixable.
Two years ago in April, my wife Dee and I needed a new washer. Conservation-minded, we were lulled by the promise of the Kenmore Elite Calypso washer. The washer was Energy-Star compliant, used hardly any water, had a revolutionary new agitator and ...

Pros: Looks nice on the outside... Cons: Beware of what's inside!
This POS was a replacement for the lemon that I had, which was a Maytag Neptune (save that for another bad review) Had the Calypso for about one year now. At times there are odd smells coming from the machine, like rotten eggs.I run cycles through with ...

Pros: I am much to upset to say anything positive at this time. Cons: I think I have already listed every Con possible. BUYER BEWARE!!!!
I purchased my Calypso Washer from Sears about 2 years ago. I spent about $1,300.00 for the washer another $200.00 on a repair plan and than when that was up another $400.00 in additional repair costs. This will now be the 5th time since owning this ...

Pros: Non Cons: Lots of problems and a lot of money for terrible product.
So I was minding my own business working on my computer when I heard strange noises coming from my laundry room. As described later by my son, it sounded like a person was trapped inside the machine and was banging to get out. I knew that I had other ...

Pros: It looks nice. Cons: The smell, the holes, the shredded towels, the lint...ect...THE MONEY WE SPENT!!!
Ok, so now I'm kind of feeling a little better knowing that I am not so crazy after all. But on the other hand I am feeling quite sick over reading that my "Wonderful" new washing machine is not so wonderful after all. Ok...so we have had this machine ...

Pros: The lid opens Cons: A lot of money, stinks, junk after 5 years
My wife an I decided to purchase a new washer dryer after using hand-me-down machines that were 20+ years old. We thought we would by a quality machine we could give to one of our kids down the road just like our parents did with us. The machine ...
