We have just completed our move from Kingston, ON Canada to Surprise, AZ.

Although this was our first move in over 20 years, the pleasure of contracting with your company, just about makes us want to move on a regular basis.

From the first contact to get a quote; help given to us by the Kingston ABF office; the courtesy and efficiency of the delivery from the Phoenix office; the service of the agents on your 800 number and the drivers who delivered and picked up the trailers at both locations, we can only give you an A+ rating.

The quoted price of the move being far below any alternative quotes we had received was a bonus. I had estimated the load to be 10 linear feet. It turned out to be 8 [feet]. The final amount was over $400.00 less than expected... The delivery of the trailer was to the minute as promised. The driver was very pleasant. I enjoyed tracking [our shipment] across the country[it got there earlier than expected, but there was no hassle about extra storage charges].

Pros: NO fuel charge, no broke down U-haul, no truck driving, no hassle, very flexible load/unload.
Cons: The trailer internal box is real high making for superhigh stacks of boxes.

They dropped a brand new trailer off on Thursday. my wife had him reposition it three times, no problems just being female. The driver was very skilled parking the trailer perfectly. We called for a pickup on Tuesday morning, they picked it up 6 hours later and we left for TYS. They dropped the trailer off on Thursday noon. We called for a pickup the following Monday. All the drivers are great, nothing broken. I would use a tie down strap around that bulkhead, we used a 15ft strap. The bulkhead may have fallen without it. We used just two linear feet more than they guessed. They charged us the agreed price of $25 per extra foot. No strings or hidden cost. We went way over the guessed weight, no extra charge. I will use them again. no fuel charge, no broke down U-haul, no driving a big slow truck, no hassle, very flexible on load/unload time with no extra day charges. They are GREEEEEEAT!!!!

Pros: Fast, timely, inexpensive method of moving.
Cons: Trailer must be packed very well to be economical.

I would suggest using movers to at least pack, if not unpack, your load. You can probably get them for $150 or less, and they pack much better than you will, which is important. These trailers are great... cheap, reliable, timely, but they are also freight trucks, and ride like that. On the way up to Oregon I saw them doubled up, and sometimes tripled up, behind the trucks hauling them. Definitely a rough ride.
That said, I only had one glass break out of my entire load of furnishings, much of it fragile. They were a little late delivering the trailer (about an hour), but very timely in dropping it off and picking it back up. Make sure you have space to park the trailer.

Pros: Same price as a rental truck without driving, been in business for like 80 years.
Cons: What can I say, I had to load and unload. But we expected that.

I have moved some where around 12 times, 3 times cross country. Moving companies cost $5000 - $7500. Ouch! Rental trucks are convenient but I have to drive and they offer limited space. U-Pack offers a 28 foot truck with wider and higher dimensions than any rental truck. And I don't have to drive. I wasn't looking forward to having my wife and kids in our van as I drove the rental truck. With ABF, we got to drive together.

And the best news is, that I spent the same for the U-Pack as I would have spent on a rental truck that was smaller and I had to drive.

ABF U-Pack is a HOME RUN!

Cons: local terminals only have a fair customer service

We moved to New Hampshire from Minnesota. With ABF, it was cheap and less frustration. We really worried about this moving, but turned out pretty good. Later, we had to change a plan, so I called Customer Service, and they were very kind. I even got a free ramp. I recommend ABF U-PACK if you want to spend less and are willing to do some work.

we moved 2 weeks ago from CT to NC and we used u pack 3 relocubes .our experience with this company is nothing but exceptionally excellent . its a great company.right from first fone call up to the delivery of relocubes to our new home ,its been so smooth and eazy process. they r always available on fone , customer service is just superb. and people who came to deliver relucubes were so nice and couteous and puntual .we got our stuff right on time and no breakage at all ( we packed our stuff very tight and used lot of ropes to tie them )
they provide extremely good value for the money and cut hassle and stress of moving completely

ABF U-Pack moved us from Austin, TX, to Port Angeles, WA in August, 2002.

Every aspect of the move unfolded exactly as predicted by U-Pack … we had no surprises, no problems, and still have no regrets about the experience. Saving over $9,000 was a bonus!

While I hope not to move again, I would use ABF again if the need to move arose.

I was moving from CT to NC by myself. I didn't want to use a full service moving company because they said my load was too small to guarantee delivery (they gave me a four day window of when my things might arrive). ABF was $400 less expensive then renting a Uhaul even though I opted to pay an additional 25% to guarantee delivery. Everyone was so customer service oriented; the folks answering the phones, the dispatch people and the drivers.
If you're ok with loading your own things but don't want to drive the truck this is definitely the way to go. Rent a ramp with the truck (it's about four feet off the ground),use bungees to secure the load and get a lock for the trailer if you're concerned about leaving it unlocked overnight (the driver will tell you where to leave the key).

Pros: cheap cheap cheap
Cons: lots of work, huge trailer parked in your driveway or street is major eyesore

6 or 7 years ago we moved from houston to buffalo ny (yes we love it here!) and used this u-pack ABF system to move a 3 bedroom house (and a hot tub even!) We hired a crew to help us pack up in houston (lots of cheap labor available there unlike ny!) anyway - if you follow their instructions and double check delivery days and all that - you should be OK. I figured we saved over $2,000 doing a cross country move this way. When the trailer got to NY we hired another crew to help us unpack it and we hardly had any breakage at all.

If everything worked this well, the Better Business Bureau would be out of business. The people were charming, efficient, and helpful. Everything happened just as promised. The trailer was clean. And the driver helped unload.

Pros: Great Service and a lot cheaper than the alternatives.

ABF was 1/4 the price of regular movers. I moved cross-country, over 2000 miles, the service was great! The ABF people who dropped off and picked up the relocube were very polite and professional and came on time. The relocube was clean and easy to load. When the relocube arrived at its destination, nothing was damaged. I would definitely use this service again!

After my Dad passed away suddenly, my wife and I were faced with the immediate need to move many of his effects from Portland, OR to Las Vegas, NV. We obtained pricing from U-haul and other truck rental companies, considered the fuel that would be required and took into consideration that we'd have to take 3 days (plus hotel, meals, etc.) to get from there to here---all unacceptable. Being in the air transportation bussiness, I called my friends at FedEx and asked their advice, which was to look in LTL (less than total load) trucking companies. While doing so I came across AFB's U-Pack moving program. Their price was less than a third of U-Hauls, they delivered the "pod" at my Dad's home, we loaded it and they picked it up next day. Good to their word it arrived here in Las Vegas on schedule, and all in good order. In response to "would you use this service again"?, as I told Dave, the ABF dispatcher on duty when I went to pick up Dad's stuff--""absolutely!!!" My advise to those considering this alternative is, try it, you'll like it.

This company is awesome. Very good tracking system. The stuff got there faster than me. Its very easy to use and the drivers are great. They dont have dolly's so if you can rent or borrow one that may come in handy. The price was a little more than the other companies but they are far more reputable. No dealing with third parties. Everything is theirs. They have distribution centers all over America.

Faced with the need to transport a 5x7 storage unit full of mementos cross-country, no option proved inexpensive, upon research, but ABF relocubes seemed to be the most convenient and secure approach.

Sure enough, every aspect of the experience went smoothly. The internet contact was courteous and straighforward, the moving kit was helpful with tips and a DVD explaining every step.

On moving day, the drivers and location managers in both Virginia and California were courteous and expert. Each driver adjusted the relocube exactly where I needed it and made it look easy.

And most importantly, my irreplaceable mementos arrived in tact and on time.

There were no hidden fees or surprises.

My boyfriend recently moved from Louisiana to Arizona. We were both worried about renting a trailer and driving across the country with it. Besides the fact that it was SO expensive it also seemed dangerous! Even to get a Uhaul to move from LA to AZ was very expensive. While browsing the internet we came across the upack.com website. It was one of the only online websites that looked legitimate. A few other sites seemed kind of sketchy. Upack was also very upfront about the pricing. We decided to go with UPack / ABF! We had a great experience! We were impressed with the customer service and prices. The customer service reps were very friendly and knowledgeable. We also liked that were able to track the move online via the Upack website. The whole process went smoothly and the company was reliable. The next time we move we will defiantly use Upack!
