A great cube move with ABF May 2007
by snkja ,May 24 '07
Pros: On time, efficient, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful, smooth. Cons: None
Highly recommend. Cube arrived on time to fill in Oregon. Amazed as to what I could fit into what looked like such a small space!!! We packed it tight for limited movement. Everything got on. Arrived at destination within time stated. Easy to trace on internet. ALL people, corp office, phone people, drivers, destination dispatch were very nice, professional, and helpful. Destination terminal in Phoenix. went out of their way to deliver. No problems whatsoever. Nothing broken or messed. I followed their directions and it worked fine. I had a small move, but it was relatively painless, even for a senior citizen. After senior discount and AAA discount, I could not have done it cheaper any other way. They also have links to a great car transport company.

More than expected and great service!
by jenalerae ,Aug 27 '07
Pros: Easy locations, great personell, quick, honest Cons: I do not have any cons to report
My new husband and I were facing the fact of a "cross-country" move and the daunting task of moving all of our belongings to where he was going to continue going graduate school. Gratefully we found the ABF U-Pack and not only found accommodating services, but wonderful people as well. Each individual we worked with across the country gave quick, effective, professional, and wonderful service. Once we arrived in our new home town they were flexible and made sure that we were able get to our pod quickly. The prices were very comparable to other moving companies as well. I will never hesitate in using U-Pack services again!

would use them again
by phreddytran ,May 28 '05
Pros: Cheaper than U-Haul (particularly with the cost of gas) and
super friendly drivers. Cons: Bulkheads difficult to use.
We used Upack to go from Los Angeles to Houston, and the service was fast, friendly, and far cheaper than U-Haul. Because they did the hauling, we were able to drive our comfy car on a scenic route through the Southwest -- our stuff was waiting when we arrived. Our recommendation to Upack users is to try to have your boxes all of a similar size to prevent cargo shifting, and to have the drivers help you with the bulkheads.

Best Move and Customer Service
by tweiler36 ,May 28 '05
Pros: CUSTOMER SERVICE, professional and timely delivery, ease of use website and immediate quote Cons: some partners listed on the website that are professional packers were not available in Canada.
In early May I moved from Vancouver Canada to Washington, DC. I used ABF U-Pack because it was cheaper than anyone else and even U-Haul. The help they provided me in preparing customs forms, delivery times, advising on packing, etc. was outstanding. I drove across country taking my time and my delivery was waiting on me in DC when I arrived. Everyting was in perfect order. Not only was the move inexpensive and fast, the customer service was at a level that should serve for other companies (any customer service company) to emulate.

Great Experience
by timlew ,May 09 '08
Pros: Outstanding customer service at both ends. Cons: Received the trailer later than expected on the receiving end. Minor inconvenience.
I used ABF U-Pack twice in 4 months to move from Delaware to Washington State. Both times the experience and results were outstanding. Everyone I met or communicated with were helpful and seemed to care. The key to a successful move is to pack and secure the load properly. The first time I tied rope from side to side weaving through the metal slots of the trailer frame. The rope almost rubbed through. Second time I used S hooks and it worked much better and no rub through at all. Also from my first experience, I screwed a 2x4 across the width at the end of my load to prevent the bottom boxes from putting pressure on the bulkhead. It was easy to track my trailer as it made its way across the country which was helpful when planning my unloading time at the destination end. For me, the cost of the service was less than a one-way rental truck would have been let alone fuel, tolls and my time. I highly recommend the service.

An excellent company to work with
by im_ho ,Jan 23 '08
Pros: Well organized, systematic and predictable. Cons: They don't drive over the weekends, so you will need to plan and coordinate accordingly.
Not having much experience with long distance moves, we decide to use ABF U-Pack after doing some online research and reading reviews etc. relocating our daughter to OR.
They were courteous and easy to work with. We were given enough lead time to pack/unpack the 2 cubes we needed. That's one part of the move we have taken care of. Looking back, I am glad we did not try and rent a U-Haul moving truck do all of the moving ourselves. The amount we would have saved would not have justified all the extra work, responsibilities and added liability of driving a largish truck (without any prior experience on a long trip). I would certainly recommend them and use them again.

Excellent Experience
by debramiller06 ,Mar 03 '08
Pros: Affordability, options, hours of operation, professional, courteous, Cons: None
These folks were very professional and courteous. My move went perfect right down to the ETA of my *Reloc-cube. I highly recommend them to anyone moving. The price was affordable; I moved from Portland, Maine to Indianapolis, Indiana. I chose the terminal to terminal but they have several affordable options. My cube arrived punctually within the time allocated for the distance. The customer service was excellent, I received reminders via email for packing tips and a courtesy bill of lading. I also called the customer service line to speak with a representative and had the most professional and courteous service I have ever experienced. So far, I have no damaged items, I shipped antique dishes and glass ware, and my entire seashell collection as well as regular household items. I did not have to file any claims.

No Hassle Moving
by dafox1951 ,Oct 26 '05
Pros: You Pack your Household Goods
No exhausting Driving to meet return deadline Cons: Hand Truck, Ramp, Dollies, etc. are extra charges.
If you want to move a long distance, say from state to state and not have the hassle to pack, drive and unpack a rental truck, then ABF U-Pack is for you.
Granted you have to do the packing, but you pack it the way you want or need, not by some other person.
Also, they drive the truck to your destination, so you can take your time getting there and be rested.
One clue is to have the trailer delivered on a Friday or just before a holiday. This will give you one to two extra days to do the packing. This works in reverse to your destination also.

Good experience
by analyte ,Nov 28 '05
Pros: Easy, polite service, inexpensive, you don't have to drive Cons: Truck is not air ride and stuff got jostled.
ABF ended up being a good choice for us. I used the online reservation form and it worked perfectly. The departure-end people were really polite and showed up on time. The truck was clean and the driver was helpful. We ended up using less space than we estimated and they didn't charge us for the extra. The bulkhead was easy to install and stayed in place until we took it down to unload. Some of our things got bounced around, but that was our fault for not packing boxes better.
There was a mix-up with the delivery-end office and they tried to delivery the truck a day earlier than we'd scheduled, but the situation was solved with one phone call and didn't cause a problem.

Best Self Move Alternative
by tomcolllins ,Oct 14 '03
Pros: Great drivers, very nice people scheduling truck dropoff/pickup, clean truck, very low cost Cons: Ramp not available for loading so had to build. Sent two left panels, flip hardware.
We just completed our move from New Jersey to Virginia using U-Pack. Following their instructions we had no broken or damaged furniture, glassware etc. Best part was I didn't have to drive a truck towing my car behind. They dropped off our trailer on Thursday evening and picked it up on Monday morning (we called late Friday for a Monday pickup). Our furniture arrived in Virginia on Wednesday, delivered to our new house on Thursday and picked up 1 1/2 hours after we called for a pickup. Everything went smooth.

customer repeat 4 times
by sjkjoros ,Aug 19 '08
Pros: drivers, terminals ok to deal with Cons: Main office not so friendly,CHECK YOUR BILL FOR ERRORS overcharged; Even with proof
I swear they turn those cubes upside down and load them. As far as customer service; short, and somewhat unprofessional; any type of refund, not acceptable only on their terms.

Best, most-convenient move ever!
by loren407 ,Aug 20 '09
Pros: Timely, effecient, customer service reps willing and able to help Cons: No cons. Not one thing was wrong, late, misquoted. It was a perfect experience!
Moving from Michigan to Jacksonville, my husband and I needed an inexpensive way to move our belongings from our two bedroom condo to our new home in Jacksonville. We decided to use the upack system with the trailer dropoff. There's nothing I can say except that ABF U-pack was the best choice in a move I've ever made. They were scheduled to drop the trailer off in MI to load between 8 am and noon. The trailer arrived at about 8:30 am. They came and picked it up about the same time the next day. It took about three business days for the drive down to FL. Once there, they were scheduled to drop off the trailer between 8 am and noon. The trailer came at about 9 am. Came and picked it up as soon as we were done unloading. The price was over $1000 less than other moving companies we received quotes from. You will not go wrong with this company. Use them!!!!!

A Great Experience!
by bradmckerley ,Nov 18 '05
Pros: Affordable and Easier than driving a moving truck yourself!
Cons: Can't think of any
We moved from the Philadelphia,Pa area down near Orlando,Fl. The truck was dropped off (make sure you have the 14 ft clearance with power/telephone lines so that they can park the trailer) and we had 2 days to load it up and then it was picked up. The trailer arrived down here exactly a week(5 business days) later, which was perfect for us. Our belongings were in place and we unloaded it with no problem. Make sure that if you use a ramp to load your trailer, you must call your destination terminal about making sure there will be a ramp available when you unload. We did not have a problem with this, but I almost overlooked calling to make sure! I would recommend this to anyone who wants an affordable and convenient shipping company.

not that inexpensive
by madmagyar ,May 09 '05
Pros: I don't really have any pros since I didn't sign up for the service. Cons: Prices well above my expectation. Customer service was barely polite.
I recently sent in for a price quote from U-pack and was very disappointed at what they offered.
I got a quote for a move from New Jersey to Oakland, CA.
They want $2608 for 6ft of space (the minimum) using door-to-door service.
I did a bit of searching and found I could rent a 15ft. truck from budget with $700 gas for about the same price.
Friends of mine who used U Pack several years ago for a similar move said they paid around $1,000.
When I called customer service a drone-like representative told me that "prices can fluctuate" before hurrying me off the phone.
It's too bad. Based on all the rave reviews I've read on hear I was really expecting to find a good deal.
An outfit called Movex quoted me a price of $1593 for 5ft of space to move the same distance.
