Pros: Driver was great! Cons: Packers were horrible!
Having moved many times in my life, I have had good experiences and bad ones. It really isn’t the company that determines the quality of the move, but instead the individual people that you deal with. Bekins just moved us from Whitefish, Montana, and...
Pros: None Cons: Incompetent, cheaters, liars, rude, underestimate weight to suck you in.
This company has no morals or ethics. They tell you what you what to hear and then do the opposite. They lie about eveything and never return calls. Our move was terrible! Please never, never use this company. You will be sorry. We have called with ...
Pros: The driver and his crew were well-intentioned, but just cogs in a rotting wheel. Cons: Multiple breeches of contract; no replies to mail or voice mail; corrupt agents
Below is a copy of the 1st of 4 letters I have sent to Bekins HQ in Chicago. No replies. No returned voice mails. Nothing bu tunmitigated incompetence. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! ------------------------------

Attention: Customer Relations ...
Pros: Reasonable rate, great customer service, great service from estimator to packer to movers. Cons: So far, no cons. I will write again when my stuff arrives in Arkansas.
No one likes to move. It's exhausting, time consuming, expensive: you only hope your stuff gets where it needs to go and that no one loses an eye in the process. Apparently after deregulation of interstate moving companies, many con artist/fly-by-n ...
Pros: cheap Cons: you get what you pay for..trying to save a buck
This is a copy of the letter we sent to the BBB and Bekins (no response from Bekins of course) if you don't have time to read it here's the nutshell version: they don't honor contracts they don't return calls they lose and break things they don't ...
Pros: Driver polite and hard-working. Customer service representative polite and understanding, but inevitably useless. Cons: Agent lied, owner did not return calls, movers lazy, slow, damaged belongings, billing department rude.
We had a bad move a few years ago, and were very concerned that it might happen again. We settled on Bekins after the agent, Jeff Grant, in Norfolk, VA convinced us that they were the ones to use. We had several concerns about moving our entire 4 ...
Pros: Local agent good, inexpensive Cons: Takes too long to deliver, Keeps changing estimates of delivery day
The Summary: (If you don't want to read my whole experience) Local agent was good to work with, but Bekins and/or my driver took advantage of the long delivery period I was given. My estimated arrival date changed multiple times, and my driver never ...
Pros: THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT BEKINS! Cons: DISHONEST, INDIFFERENT, DESTRUCTIVE, CARELESS, LAZY, RUDE
My certified letter to Mike Rogers on 10/21/05 - which he ignored - pretty much explains it all. Dear Mr. Rogers, On March 29, 2005 you loaded my home for a move to Los Angeles from Wheaton, IL. ===The driver showed up without a team ===The team ...
Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Too many to say, please read

Pros: Nicest movers! Everything's here. Cons: Just a few.
Ok, so I went against ALL the epinions I read about Bekins. Yes, they were the lowest bidder, but it wasn't just that. The guy that came to give me the bid was really nice. He assured me he'd be with the movers the day of the move (he wasn't), and I...
Pros: Quick set up, flexible schedule Cons: Unreliable, wrong delivery time, theft
Few things are as precarious as a move across the country. You rely on so many services and people, hoping to start a new life in a new city with as little disruption as possible. So, you secure a new job, secure new housing, have going-away parties with...
Pros: Florida contractors were honest about damage and 2,300 lb. overestimate. Cons: No response to damage claim, lost items, unanswered voice mails.
Since 1968, my family used Bekins Van Lines for numerous moves from Western PA to several locations nationally because of a neighbor who owns a moving company associated with Bekins. Personally, I used them for two relocations and was impressed with...
Pros: Goods transported safely Cons: Bidding practices seem designed to create tension between firm and drivers
When we moved our (then) small household across country from Virginia to Washington State, we got bids from Mayflower, Allied and Bekins. At $5,300, Bekins was by far the lowest bidder -- the others were at $7,500 and up. Plus, the Bekins agent offered...
Pros: Cheapest estimate of all major movers Cons: Arrived late. Broke antique furniture. Dragged bed mattress thru mud.
I can speak with some experience on this subject having moved six times in the past five years, twice across state lines and once across country. On one such interstate move, I had to foot the bill, so I solicited several bids and went for the lowest...
Pros: There were none Cons: Anything that has to do with this company is BAD
Here is a copy of my email to the Bekins company after countless phone calls that have gone no where. Read it and decide for yourself what kind of company this is. I am VERY disgusted with your company. My family relocated recently from Texas to ...
Pros: friendly, on-time, took great care of my antique furniture, nothing broke Cons: estimator low balled the bid and ticked off the driver

Pros: None Cons: Poor customer service, unreliable delivery, excessive damages, the list goes on and on
I've moved over 10 times in the past 12 years so I've used quite a few moving companies. One of those moves was from San Francisco to Boston. When I originally moved from Boston to San Francisco, I used Atlas Movers and had a terrific experience, my...
Pros: Least expensive of major movers Cons: Came a day late, claims not honored
We used Bekins when we moved from Ohio to New Mexico in 1994. We had several major movers come and give us estimates and go over their services in the weeks prior to the move. Bekins estimate was the lowest. My husband's employer was going to pay the...
Pros: Few; all eclipsed by the cons. Cons: This company runs the gamut from inept to rude and potentially dangerous.
We recently hired Bekins of South Florida to move my elderly and infirm parents’ belongings from Florida to New Jersey. Save for the beginning, the experience was thoroughly unsatisfactory, as various Bekins employees displayed levels of thoughtlessness,...
Pros: Price Cons: Delivery was over 1 month late, and contained only half of my goods!
I've done this before, as it was my 9th long distance move. This was however my first experience with Bekins and I had nothing but problems from the start.
Packers showed up 2 days EARLY to pack everything in boxes. Next day was a holiday,...
Pros: Wish there were some. Cons: Just about everything.
We hired this mover because it was on an approved military list of companies to move our household goods from Dayton, Ohio to Colorado Springs. We chose Bekins because of a reputation it once deserved of giving outstanding service to its customers....
Pros: Sales person was good! Cons: Delivery of services SUCKED!

Pros: 8 out of 10 times, no major problems Cons: Abominable customer service. Amid problems, HQ is unreachable. Work days lost waiting in dark.
In August 2005, our furniture etc. went missing and did not arrive during the expected days. The most unaccountably irresponsible and rotten thing is that we never got to speak with anyone higher up than the first-level receptionists, who gave us the ...
Awful, awful, awful. One month without clothes, bed, furniture. I didn't want to buy furniture, since that would just be duplicating what I already had. When my things finally came, they wanted me to pay for a shuttle truck and I refused. I got Customer ...
Pros: Our things arrived on time and nothing was broken or too badly scratched. Cons: Poor customer service. Slogan: Trust Goes A Long Way is a load.

Pros: They only damaged about 10 things Cons: See my review

Pros: NONE. Real cost is a lot more than what we were quoted. Cons: THEY DON'T CARE. Godspeed with your move if you choose them.

Pros: no questions asked for claims Cons: they still owe me money and will not pay

Pros: We only paid 3500 from San Francisco, CA to Cambridge, MA Cons: The packers broke a drawer in the kitchen. Can't keep dates.
We moved a one bedroom from San Francisco, CA to Cambridge, MA. Not a lot of stuff, and no car. As other reviewers have stated, Bekins seems to provide a social service by employing the packers they do. This is fine with us, these guys need jobs, too....
Pros: hard to find any Cons: Overall lousy company with little to no regard for the customer.
We moved from Philadelphia to Madison, WI for a job relocation. The estimator had no idea how to do his job and so simply lowballed an estimate from another company. On the prearranged moving date, the company canceled twice - 2 days in a row - they ...

Pros: none Cons: Missing and damaged items, harrassement

Pros: They only broke one piece of furniture Cons: Service, price, attitude

Pros: nothing Cons: every aspect of my experience with Bekins
Moving back to Chicago from Las Vegas using Bekins Move Services was one of the most frustrating things I have ever done. I would love to write about the good aspects of my relationship with Bekins, but there would be nothing to write about.

Great Move The Way It Should Be Beginning To End by sirjayb ,Apr 15 '04
Pros: Did everything they said they would in a very professional manner. Cons: Cannot find any faults.
Maffucci Storage, agents for Bekins Van Lines, did an outstanding job for us. They picked us up on time and delivered the goods when they said they would on the other end 610 miles away. The actual charges came in a little below the estimate. The driver Jose and his crew were neat and courteous and handled our goods with the utmost care. The packing was superb and as a result nothing was damaged. After reading all the horror stories, I will say I was very apprehensive when choosing a mover for all our household goods and antiques which included a delicate compound curve glass display cabinet. As a result, when we decided upon Maffucci, we went to their facility to check out the operation. We were impressed with the attention given us and met several of the staff including the transportation coordinator. Everyone assured us we would have a successful move and we did. If you are on Long Island, NY, be certain to call upon Maffucci for your moving needs.
Pros: None. Cons: Late pick-up and drop-off. Poor customer service skills.
I have moved several times. Bekins offers the worst service imaginable. I tolerated their being late picking up and delivering our belongings. What irritated me the most, however, was the fact that they almost never called us. Throughout our move, we called them well over two dozen times asking them for information and updates. Only one of our calls was returned, because the representative hung up on us when he put the call on hold. Once he did call us back, he had neither information nor the desire to assist us. The many customer service representatives with whom we spoke were ill informed, lazy, and possessed absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever, let alone common sense. I will never use Bekins again. I would at least give a D grade to someone who failed, but exhibited a modicum of effort. An F grade is too high for Bekins.
My family has just completed our second move in the last two months with bekins. Both moves were excellent, the estimator was right on, the prices were very competitive, movers were on time and everything arrived in perfect condition. I have used other movers and had bad experiences, bekins has my business for life. Highly recommended.
Bekins is a Great Moving Company by mamabell5 ,Oct 26 '06
Pros: professional, competative rates, not the cheapest, great sales and crews. Cons: not the cheapest, needed to call a couple times with a question
We have used Bekins for 3 moves and my parents used them for a move into storage and then into their new house. We have never encountered the problems that you hear about. Our salesman was friendly, knowledgeable, very detailed about what to compare when getting the other bids. Our packing crew was nice, they did a good job, nothing was broken. And all the crews we have had for the move itself were wonderful. Moving into a new house, I was paranoid about the walls getting bumped or the carpet getting soiled but the crews used every precaution to avoid that.
There are so many companies out there and Bekins has the reputation, history and value. They are always the cheapest but comparable. I would recommend them to family or friends, sure moving is not free of problems, stress and some rough times but it isn't a nightmare either.
Pros: competitive pricing Cons: They misled, lied, and stole from us.
Bekins Van Lines was bad news from the beginning. We moved from Davis, CA to Cincinnati, OH. They didnt pick-up our stuff within the window of dates given. I was told by the sales rep that my shipment would be transferred onto a truck, from the origin, and taken directly to the destination by the same driver. It turned out that my goods were moved from the first driver's truck, at the origin, to an unknown warehouse, before it was picked up by a different driver, one week later. Upon delivery, the furniture was in fair condition, but the boxes were severely damaged. Not only were the majority of boxes crushed and torn apart, but many had apparently been re-packed by the movers. Several items were placed in random boxes; one box was completely empty, though it had obviously been re-taped by the movers. I suspect that during this re-packing process, several items were not returned to us. Because of the nature of what is now lost, I strongly suspect that these items were stolen by a Bekins Van Line staff. Among the list of missing items, most were small electronics and priceless collectibles.
They forgot Customer Service by livinsun ,Oct 30 '06
Pros: No problems during pick up of furnishings. Cons: Customer service non-existent once they had our stuff. Don't use them!
All was well when our furnishings were picked up...HOWEVER, our furnishings were delivered at Midnight on the last day of our "window", after we had spent 16 hours sitting on the driveway of an empty house, with an over-tired, bored 5 year old. Virtually no useful information during this time. It was impossible to inspect for breakage by the single light of the garage and the drivers said "we can't stay while you inspect. We have to head back to Phoenix (2 hrs away) for an 8 AM pick-up." Stupid me, I signed their waiver, with their assurances that Bekins would make it right." Of course, they didn't. Don't ever use them.
I would never use Bekins again by cohoshoop ,Apr 29 '06
Pros: I wish there was something positive to say. Cons: The whole experience was a nightmare.
I'll sum it up. Bekins performed the worst job possible. From the local company Gates movers in Sarasota, FL., we worked with Steve Gates to the corporate office in Chicago. They want the business but that is it. Our stuff was 3 1/2 weeks late to CA. Every time we called Gates they told us to call corporate Customer Service to find out the status. When we'd call corporate Customer Service they couldn't tell us anything either. We'd get postcards in the mail or an automated call telling us there was a new arrival date (this happened 4 times) and we'd call Gates or Corporate and would get no new information - the people apparently are as up to date as their postcards! No response, no information, no apologies. The packing was shoddy, the driver in Florida and the local office Gates left our stuff in Florida for 2 weeks without contacting us. Use anyone but Bekins.
Poor Packing and Handling of Items by mmap ,Feb 28 '05
Pros: Able to ship just three items. Cons: Poor packing, poor handling of items, not punctual.
We needed to move three items from Las Vegas to Atlanta, we went with a company that contracts out extra space on trucks, so we didn't have a choice in the final company used. I wish I had done more research. Bekins packaged our items, 3 pieces of dining room furniture, they were packaged improperly, and all items arrived damaged. One of the items was even dropped. The internal form from Bekins even stated that the items were improperly packed. The furniture was wrapped only in the heavy seran wrap. During shipping they got very banged up, dented, scratched, broken glass, and two doors were damaged.
In addition the furniture arrived late.
The insurance was through the third party contractor, so I do not have experience with the Bekins Claims area.
Bekins in South Florida Excellent! by josabs ,Feb 15 '07
Pros: Professional, Efficient, Honest and Inexpensive! Cons: None
My estimator Nancy arrived on time. She was very knowledgeable and understanding. She printed our estimate from her little computer right after her walkthrough of our house! The packers, Mitch and crew, arrived a day before the move and spent a lot of time packing very carefully. The Driver and crew came the next day about midmorning and they worked consistently hard all day and were done by the early evening. Our stuff arrived in Georgia on time when we were there, nothing was damaged and everything went very smooth and professional. What more can I say? A very stress-free and professional move! There might be some bad apples out there but these guys know what they are doing!
Pros: None Cons: Will not honor anything promised.
I was moving with my family across the country and made a mistake of using Bekins Van Lines as a carrier.
First, estimate has changed, of course increased, before they even picked up the staff. Second, they were one week late in delivering the staff. When, however, they did deliver, turned out the two parts of the bedroom set were destroyed and could not be repaired.
It has taken me more then eight months after the claim was processed to find out that Van line will not stand behind their commitment and reimbursed us for the set according to the original receipt.
This company operate without any integrity and I would not recommend of using them.
Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere!!!!!! by santeria226 ,May 19 '08
Pros: Nothing Cons: Liars, slow in everything they do,bad customer service
Terrible company! Late on pickup, and 14 days later past required delivery date our stuff is still not in Texas, so my newborn baby, and my husband and I are sleeping on the floor! Being in the military and moving across country is stressful enough. Customer service is terrible!! I would seriously avoid and spend money elsewhere or if military do it yourself!
Worst move ever! Wish I read this board!! by ianplows ,Oct 21 '04
Pros: Cheap Cons: All above - not worth a fraction of their quoted price
I have had the move from hell with Bekins - BMS Holdings in Houston. PLEASE read this - my experience is very consistent with many postings here!! I have moved internationally, and domestically many times - got multiple estimates - Allied told me - beware of Bekins!!
They turned up late, the truck was too small. valuable furniture was very badly packed. They left with holes in my house walls (and weren't going to tell me); scratches in the wood floor.
At the destination we were held at ranson to be paid fully before they would offload the truck!!!! We got very close to calling in the police. During all of this - NOBODY, especially Randy Baker and Jeff (general manager) would return or even acknowledge calls.
All in all - this is the worst experience I have every been subjected to...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not use this company. I'm not the only one to say this..they may be the cheapest, but it's really not worth it. Don't think you can hold them accountable for anything - they are all contact staff and will not take accountability for ANYTHING!!!
We moved from California to Tennessee and unfortunately chose Bekins as a mover. The contracted delivery date was blown by two weeks. When we asked why, we were told that they had no drivers available, which is a definite drawback to a delivery company. Repeated attempts to hold them to the contract date were met by incompetent or uncaring agents. Resolving our complaints, not to our complete satisfaction, took months. We joined a host of others who have made formal complaints to the Better Business Bureau. This was the worst business experience we have had in 48 years. I have no idea why or how this company is still in business.
BOERMAN BEKINS = DISSATIFACTION by josorio ,Dec 07 '07
Pros: They have trucks and equipment. Cons: lack responsibility, integrity and commitment to the customer.
I'm only sorry that I took the advice of a friend and called these guys. They're okay on the front end, but you better be ready for crap on the back end. They may be alright for in-state moves, but from my interstate experience, I would have done better to rent a U-Haul and had done it myself.
A Rip Off in every sense of the word by slb_16 ,Feb 06 '06
Pros: NONE Cons: They are experts at Ripping you off.
Read this carefully, because you must NOT use Bekins ever. They broke my 50 bottle wine refrigerator, my 6 disc cd player, a nightstand, a mirror, a lamp, a single disc dvd player, my 32 inch tv, 3 bottles of wine, and more. Guess what they think my settlement should be: $177.00. Yes, you read that right, $177.00. They are trying to insist that I only had basic coverage, when I chose full coverage. I wonder if I will ever get just compensation for what they broke.
Also, they hired a bunch of day workers to unload my items, these guys were bumbling idiots and had no experience with moving.
DO NOT EVER USE BEKINS.
Don't Use Bekins for Your Move by bluegrama ,Dec 27 '07
Pros: Driver was helpful and courteous. Cons: Deceptive advertising and promotions
Lots of promises that won't be fulfilled.
I have moved frequently and chose Bekins for my latest move as they made a number of promises and kept none. They quoted an estimate (said to be an over-estimate, but they never weighed load or re-calibrated after packing so I over-paid there. I asked for and was charged for packing of some bulking and fragile items which they 'forgot' but did not remove from my charges. They promised to deliver packing boxes to my house which they did not do. They promised to clean my house after my moved as an incentive to use them, but they did not resulting in me having to fork over additional money to new owners. This last failure really bothered me as it takes very little to broom clean a house once all the furniture is out -- esp as house was sparkling clean when it went on the market (I estimate that it would have cost them less than $100 -- of a $4000 moving charge). Once they have your money, neither the local company nor the national company will respond.
All in all this was my worst experience with any moving company. If you have a choice use Allied.
Pros: NONE Cons: Poor customer service all around and a complete waste of money!!
Bekins should be put out of business for good! Their staff is incompetent. They used a horrible and lazy vendor to crate my glass dining room table. I had to call my sales consultant 3 times to force the vendor to crate the table as promised. The office administrator never returned my phone calls when I had questions. The drivers were totally incompetent and did a horrible job moving my precious belongings into storage. On top of that, Bekins quoted me 4 different cost totals for my move. I'm so glad my move is over but next time I'll definitely do more research. If you want reliability, honesty, and excellent customer service from a professional moving company, then PLEASE stay away from Bekins!!
Driver was surly, moving assistants had no experience and damaged items as they hauled them (more like dragged them) out of the house. Driver arrived with different contract from the binding contract we had signed, claiming we had to pay $500 above the initial contract because the moving coordinator had misquoted us. Company "moving coordinator" didn't follow through, was misleading and unhelpful. Lied to us by saying over and over again that they had a driver lined up, then suddenly, oops, they wouldn't actually have a driver available at all. Storage facility unacceptable conditions, as our electronics were fried after a month in unmoderated temperature. Bekins had our shipment for a FULL MONTH before they could coordinate a driver to bring it to us. Then they nickle and dimed us on reimbursable expenses. Nightmare experience.
GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH BEKINS!!! by rv1964 ,May 04 '07
Pros: Great services at every level! Cons: Nothing negative to say.
I agree with a person who said, "Reasonable rate, great customer service, great service from estimator to packer to movers."- this was my experience also.
The driver was great, very friendly, helpful, on-time. My move was very smooth, and everything went as promised. The company was very accommodating to my needs. I had no worries or headaches.
I will definetely use them again.
Don't be held up by Bekins- Get it in Writing by rennelf ,Sep 24 '07
Pros: They did a nice job. Cons: Don't be held up by Bekins- Get it in Writing
We were guaranteed by the estimator that the cost of the move would be between $10,500 and not more than 11,338.30 and signed a contract to the higher amount. We were guaranteed several times by the estimator that it would not be greater than this amount. They came to our house and refused to off load unless we paid them and extra $4259.75. They were coming from California to Grants Pass and had our cell phone number. They never called and would not accept a personal check upon delivery. To date, they have not responded to our correspondence (over two months). The second time (we had items in their storage) and demanded that they place it in writing that this was the absolute most they would charge us. They came through this time. It is unfortunate that we can not rely on companies to deal honestly with people with out making them sign in blood.
Bad Company: No Customer Service by madrx ,Dec 31 '07
Pros: NONE Cons: Horrible customer service. They don't stand behind their insurance on moves.
We used Bekins twice in one year (shame on us). The move was horrific! Besides the bad packing and late pickup and delivery, there was a lot of damage and missing items. When a claim was filed the their response was little if nothing. When we questioned their settlement, they said the case was closed and we could write a letter of protest if we felt the need. I have never received such LOUSY customer service. They just don't care about the people they service. They have your money and it is too bad for you if things are damaged or missing. I will never use them again and I hope you don't either if you are considering them. If I treated my customers like they do theirs, I would have been out of business years ago.
Bekins Victoria -I would avoid them by jhvicbc ,Aug 18 '08
Pros: First move was great. Get references for the team that will be moving you. Cons: Too much damage to be acceptable and the treatment post-move was unacceptable.
Used Bekins twice. The first time was an older guy in charge and the move went flawlessly without any damage. Second time was two guys in their 20s and there were numerous nicks and scrapes - nothing serious - about $650 total damage. Based on the number of knocks, I believe this was negligence but Bekins refused to cover the full cost and paid only $.60 lb. If it was accidental I would accept this, but with so many knock it had to have been negligence. Their handling of this post-move was totally unacceptable.
Pros: Reliable and pleasant Cons: They tend to push for insurance coverage.
Having read several negative reviews of Bekins, I was nervous about our move. My fears proved to be groundless. Our packers, Shannon and her assistant, arrived on time and were professional and competent. The movers, Jesse and his assistant, were later than planned, but phoned to say they would be late. They were both painstaking and careful. Nothing in our condo was damaged as they moved out our furniture.
Our furniture was delivered one day before the window in the contract, but the mover, Mark, called and asked permission to do so. This was not a problem. Mark arrived when he said he would. It was late in the day so he wasn't able to get any help. He moved everything in and set it where we wanted, and put the bed together. None of our furniture was damaged or lost in its move from Florida to Massachusetts.
I would certainly recommend Bekins.
Bekins-Dennis Moving & Storage Beaverton OR by snobird ,Oct 13 '04
Pros: service Cons: none
We moved from Carson City NV to Beaverton, OR in Oct 04. This move went very well. The service was excellent on both ends. We were lucky enough to have a driver that had been with the company many years and who had a good team of loaders. There were no hidden charges at the end of the job. I would highly recommend using this company.
San Diego Bekins Rocks! by paulaswanson ,Dec 10 '09
Pros: Fast, careful, friendly, professional, fantastic Cons: The crew wouldn't take a tip...I guess it is a company policy or something.
I just used Bekins of San Diego to move me from my home in the Carmel Valley to my new home in the Del Mar and I have to say that they were great! The 4 men that came to pack and move me were nice as can be, very professional and didn't even scratch ONE THING!!! I was amazed..I am still amazed at how careful they were. What makes me even more of a fan is that we did this move on such short notice...I only gave them a week from the time I got an estimate to the time they started packing.
I got 3 quotes, even though they were not the cheapest (in the middle), you get what you pay for and I couldn't be happier.....hey, it's all of our "stuff" they are moving!
Pros: 99.9% of what we packed made it even though boxes were damaged. Cons: We haven't heard from Morgan Moving at all.
A half full truck showed up for a full truck move and they blamed the driver. We lost a day of driving with our 4 small kids and we had to get to the close on our new home.
Our furniture was treated badly. (3 written pages of damages!) There was nothing but finger pointing and excuses. They lost parts of furniture they needed to be put back together. Nothing was confirmed as being delivered. Tags were missing from items so we don't even know what to put on our claim forms. One fourth of what was on the truck was dumped in our basement.
The second crew showed up for the second half of our things and were told there were only 15 pieces!! They exagerrated greatly on the condition of any items they had to wrap; such as furniture.
They also damaged a $10k hot tub after we told them not to put it on its side to move it. This move was through Morgan Moving and Storage, the Bekins agent, from Nashville to NH. Our only positive experience was the movers that brought our "overflow" up from Nashville.
Pros: prompt, courteous, on time , no breakage Cons: none
Interstate movers of Greenland NH are agents for Bekins and in all fairness To them I am writing to say that they are a major feather in Bekins corporate's cap. Eric the salesman was up front and honest. When I directed him and his boss Lance to this site to read some of the horror stories, I got a call from Lance asking me how many negative comments I had read singling his particular company out, to which I had to answer :none. They were the low bidder of 4 companies I interviewed. They were prompt with the quote, on time the day of the move, the utmost of professionalism in Packing and got my stuff from Mass. to Montana within hours of the promised time. A+++++ The packer and the driver were the balls, and Kudos to Bekins, the driver was headed for Seattle to report for duty for a tour in Iraq and they let him take my load with the rest of the truck empty.
thanks guys for a great moving experience. J. Holden
Great move and experience by ronphillips1 ,Aug 06 '05
Pros: Accomidating, quick and great service Cons: Broke 1 lamp, but I filed a claim and received cash.
I use Tri-Valley Bekins to move from Pleasanton, CA to Goodyear, AZ and had a great experience. Due to some last minute poor planning on my end, my job was a rush. Tri-Valley was able to get me pick-ed up and delivered in about 7 days.
My driver Russ McLod (sp?) was very nice and helpful. It seemed liked he actually cared about my stuff.
Thank you Tri-Valley Bekins for making my move "careful, quick and kind"!
Move cost $5900 for about 14,000lbs with some packing.
Bekins is the worst company. by pepbritt ,Jan 05 '08
Pros: no pros Cons: don't deal with this company
I have been fighting with Bekins movers who moved us from Florida to Texas. The truck was late 5 days. A lot of our stuff was missing or broken. We have been fighting with them for 6 months and the answer the give us is that they are working on it.
Bekins Vans Lines - Atlanta, GA to Raleigh, NC by mhierhol ,May 26 '05
Pros: Responsive, thorough packing, arrived exactly on time, good communication, no damage to our property Cons: One of the packers stole a Dr. Pepper from the fridge (not bad)
My wife and I were very nervous about using Bekins because the reviews on this site were very discouraging.
We contracted with Bekins 2 weeks from move time for a full pack and move (no vehicles).
Fortunately, our experience with Bekins was fine. They showed up on time, packed everything well, and loaded/unloaded with care.
TERRIBLE, forgot to load my couch! by emem82 ,Mar 20 '09
Pros: None Cons: Late, rude, forgot my furniture, not helpful at all, liars
I will never use Bekins again! Not only was my shipment 3 weeks late, so I have been living without furniture, but they call me the day before my furniture is to arrive to tell me that they forgot to load my couch and coffee table, which are still sitting in the warehouse!
These people have not offered to discount the cost, and have not even offered to expedite my couch. They are just saying they forgot it and there is still no truck scheduled that can bring it down to me. We are talking about 800 miles, not 1500!
NEVER USE BEKINS IN COPPELL TEXAS by denntp ,Jan 16 '06
Pros: BIG NAME Cons: LIES, MISLEADING, WORTHLESS,COULD CARELESS ABOUT YOUR THINGS
IF YOU WANT THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MOVING, CALL JEFF BADGETT OR SIDEKICK STEVE WARD IN COPPELL TEXAS. NOT ONLY WILL THEY LIE TO YOUR FACE, THEY WILL NEVER CALL YOU BACK. I HAVE FILED WITH THE BBB, FOX4 NEWS AND WILL DO EVERYTHING TO MAKE THEM REALIZE I AM NOT GOING TO LET THEM EVER FORGET ME. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING OR ANYONE. I WENT THROUGH AND STILL AM GOING THROUGH THIS MAYHEM. I HAD THEM TRANSPORT MY TRUCK, TO FLORIDA THROUGH A COMPANY RELO, AND HE TELLS ME EVERYTHING IS COVERED ON MY INSURANCE. WRONG, AFTER IT WAS DAMAGED, I TRIED TO CALL AND CALL, THEY TELL ME TO CONTACT THE PERSON WHO MOVED IT NOT THEM. I PAID BEKINS, AND THEY COULD CARE LESS. EMAIL ME FOR MORE INFO. DENNTP@HOTMAIL.COM
Pros: Seemingly helpful on the phone Cons: Contract doesn't match with phone discussions
I am writing about Scott Kerr of A & P Moving in Novato, California (Bekins Agent 0515). We initially thought that he was extremely helpful, and the details of our move were discussed at length on the phone, but the contracts that were sent to us never seemed to match with what was conveyed on the calls.
When we expressed our concerns with the discrepancies he basically told us that he was unwilling to modify the contract any further, and that if we couldn't "trust him", we should take our business elsewhere.
Pros: Nothing comes to mind, but then I've lost my mind on this move. Cons: don't even go there. I'm too upset.
I still have nothing but the clothes on my back. Entire household picked up in Cleveland on 4/17/06. It's now 5/1/06 and I'm here in NC.....do you know where your entire household goods are? I don't. I just sit in my new beach chair I bought ( I have 6 on the missing truck, I needed this one like a hole in the head). I wear my new bathing suit I bought (I have 4 on the missing truck). I eat fast food 3 times a day that I buy (I do have pots and pans somewhere on the missing truck). I hope the Bekins employees have a really lousy week cause they don't give a rats as#!*.
BEKINS OF SOUTH FLORIDA ARE SCAM ARTISTS by johntel97 ,Dec 19 '05
Pros: None Cons: A real bait-and-switch operation .... the kind you hear about in the news. Totally untrustworthy.
I've moved many times in my life and using Bekins of South Florida in 2005 was the worst moving experience in my life.
They had one of their estimators come to my home, look at all my furnishings, and issued a firm quote. I accepted the quote and a few weeks later they came and loaded up my stuff.
While my furniture was in transit, Bekins of South Florida called to get my credit card number for payment. The price was a lot higher than what I was quoted. Bekins response was that "a revised quote" was issued THAT I NEVER RECEIVED NOR WAS TOLD ABOUT.
All in all, they had my stuff and wouldn't deliver it until I paid. It was extortion. I WILL NEVER USE BEKINS AGAIN after the experience I had with Bekins of South Florida.
Pros: direct phone numbers of people that are excessively rude. Cons: lazy. slackers. rude. find joy in not delivering.
Movers would not deliver a product on days they claimed using the stupidest excuses ever and after 4 postponings I finally canceled my order because I was so frustrated. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone.
One of the Worst Moving Companies I've Dealt With by mina307 ,Dec 16 '09
Pros: -On time -Easy to book - Cons: Overcharged for amount of time and refusal to refund Rude employees Did not bring adequate packing materials.
I've used several moving companies in the past and the move with Bekins is THE WORST of any. They scratched up my hardwood floor, the crew foreman did not have experience packing and was constantly arguing with his more experienced subordinates. They did not show up with adequate packing material. I was told repeatedly that I would have to transport certain smaller items myself as they had NO paper or bubble wrap to use on them. Bekins will not unload your items at the other location until they are paid in full. I paid for the estimated amount of time and was told that if they finished quicker then the excess amount would be refunded....YEAH RIGHT! Try getting anyone at BEKINS to issue a refund. I'm still trying to resolve this issue. However no one will return my calls.
STAY AWAY FROM BEKINS VAN LIES! by buyer2009 ,Oct 21 '08
Pros: NO PROS. BUYER BEWARE. Cons: As above, please use a more trust-worthy company for your move...
Having moved several times, I had the misfortune of using Bekins for a transcontinental move. For one, they were several hours late the day of my move. Then, returned drunk from a break and protracted the move well into the night. Subsequently, overheard that they "hate their jobs" and think that the customers are "idiots". When they delivered my furniture 3 major pieces including a dining room table, armoire, etc. were totally damaged- now they will not pay a cent for the damages because the people who moved me into my new home messed up the documentation. HORRIBLE. THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS.
Pros: NONE THEY WERE HORRIBLE Cons: OVERALL HORRIBLE MOVING COMPANY
DO NOT USE BEKINS if you want a smooth moving experience..communication between driver/customer sucked, delivery was 8 days past the latest day stated on contract..overall they were the WORST possible company we could have hired to move...will NEVER use them again if we move!
