Dependable Auto Shippers
by ralphwl ,May 23 '05
Pros: The car got there.
Cons: Late. Unfriendly. Dirty.
I cannot recommend DAS. The car sat at the origin location for over two (!) weeks before it was shipped to the destination. All in all, the shipment was almost four weeks late. The only good thing: once it was loaded on the truck, the guy was speeding like hell. What really ticks me off, though, is when I cannot reach anybody. On hold for 10-30 minutes. Can't reach anybody at the destination location (only national call center picks up). Call center people were rude and arrogant. Like this: me: "So do I get a discount because the car is almost four weeks late?" Phone lady: "Well, sir. Our quoted times are always estimates" Yeah. No non-sense on that. Once the car got to the destination terminal, it was dirty and wet. Wet was a problem because when you ship a convertible enclosed, it shouldn't be wet. Especially older convertibles sometimes have leaks in their roofs. So wetness is not good. Especially when transported 'enclosed'. Anyway, I would not use them again. Especially, since they were about 25% more than the others.

Disgusting Auto Shippers
by ricktip ,Jun 18 '04
Pros: You have to be kidding me
Cons: please see review
These Liars are recommended by EBAY-Well, my car was due to arrive in Oregon yesterday and it hasn't left the terminal in Alabama yet. It is a good thing I paid for the 'guaranteed shipping'!!
Customer service was OK on first day-now they treat me with arrogance and ignorance-Pitiful service!!!

A horrible experience
by davegood ,Apr 30 '05
Pros: A great salesperson - service stops when they get your money.
Cons: Absolutely horrible tracking and customer service. They are a joke.
I have made seven attempts by email to elicit a response from these people. Absolutely no response. I have emailed the contact given to me by the BBB - no response.
I have contacted my original sales person - no response.
My car was delivered to them in Denver 13 days ago, as of this writing. It has moved once - to Mesquite - where it has sat for over a week. I've tried to call numerous times and have held for up to 20 minutes - without response. This is the least caring customer service function I have ever encountered. No way would I ever use or recommend them. They are horrid.

Dented my new truck
by rdrfan510 ,Jul 11 '05
Pros: None that I could find.
Cons: Customer Service is horrible. Car was dented and very late.
First off they let my truck sit at the origin terminal for over two weeks, until I complained enough. Then I had to call them all the time for an update as to the whereabouts of my vehicle, because the on-line tracking never worked. Last but not least the truck arrived with a huge dent on the roof. I notified them when I picked it up and still have yet to receive any notice or money. I do not recommend this company at all.

Stay Away from Dependable Auto Shippers!
by fuselet ,May 05 '07
Pros: Best price among auto shippers - People at hubs are very helpful
Cons: You get what you pay for!!! Fail to live up to all claims they make!
My car just sat and sat on their various lots for 3 weeks now. No one can give me any definitive answers as to when I might actually see it. Their customer service reps are good at acting like they care, but never accomplish anything nor follow up like they promise to. I've heard nothing but excuse after excuse, they've given me 3 ETA's now and failed at each. I've probably wasted 3 hours on hold by now. I fear for the condition of my car if I ever see it again. My travel plans have been turned upside down too.

UPDATE: I finally decided to go to New Jersey where it was sitting (it was supposed to be delivered to Baltimore) and the day I arrived to get it, it had shipped out two hours earlier, down to Baltimore - Finally.

If you do decide to use them, remember one thing and you might be better off than I was: The people at the actual hubs know what's going on and are quite helpful. Don't even bother with the central customer service - I would deal with the IRS before I would ever deal with them again.

AVOID DEPENDABLE AUTO SHIPPERS IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAR!!!!!
by johntracy61 ,May 06 '07
Pros: Price
Cons: Customer service is poor. Care of your vehicle is poor.
I hired dependable auto shippers to bring a 2005 Suzuki Forenza to Michigan from Orange County California. They picked the car immediately and then it sat at their depot for 7 days. This is to be expected. When the car left it moved quickly, but did not arrive on time. When it did arrive the car was damaged. The rocker panel under the drivers side had be dented in. The repair cost was $551. When I noticed the dent and the fact that no flaws were noted on the pick up invoice the depot wanted to make excuses. I called my insurance, and the damage falls under my comprehensive portion of my policy. They are going to fix the car and go after DAS for the cost. Also, the car was filthy when I picked it up. It had some oily residue all over it that appeared as if to be the drippings from another vehicle. Avoid DAS at all costs. They will be cheaper by a couple of hundred dollars than most other carries, but the problems you will encounter will far exceed your savings.

I'm glad we used DAS
by momkenny ,Aug 29 '05
Pros: Car arrived on time and in good condition. Competitive price. Pleasant customer service.
Cons: Tracking system could use more updating.
I read the bad reviews after already booking DAS for a cross country move. I was alarmed by the bad comments but figured more unhappy people would write in than satisfied in the normal scheme of things. It turned out to be a great experience with the car arriving as agreed and in good condition. We shipped from Northern CA to New Haven ,CT and it arrived in the 2 weeks promised. The delivery truck was about 1 hour late on the final delivery day but that seemed within reason. All of the people I talked to at the customer service number were pleasant and helpful. The tracking system does not work as well as I'd hoped with "in Transit" being the main response. Overall I would recommend them and use them again.

I Got No Complaints
by craigau ,Aug 20 '08
Pros: They did the job at the lowest price I could find.
Cons: Sometimes it took a day for the tracking system to catch up to the car.
Dependable Auto Shippers shipped my 1987 Porsche 911 from Fresno, CA to Buffalo, NY. It was bit painful to see that the car was sitting at the drop off depot in Fresno for three days, but apparently that's normal. Regardless, it arrived exactly on the date it was supposed to be there.

NOT DEPENDABLE
by mia1009 ,Feb 01 '05
Pros: NONE
Cons: Bad customer service and NOT dependable at all.
Like everyone else I did some research and I decided to go with DAS, since they have been in business for so long. I shipped my car from California to Michigan and it has been sitting in Arizona for the past week and a half...I have tried to calling customer service and all I get is nothing but the answering machine. I paid 969 dollars for a car that was picked up 2 weeks ago...and its going to take another week to arrive...

can't get s straight answer
by jamorowitz ,Feb 01 '05
Pros: Car undamaged except missing wipers
Cons: Poor communications, rude unhelpful employees.
I shipped my car from NJ to the Caribbean. It took five weeks (only a week longer than they promised. The big problems were the items they removed from my car, and difficulty getting them to return phone calls. Prior to shipping I had verified with Dependable, US Customs and the Maritime shipper that it was OK to have items in the car. I was told as long as it didn't block the windows it was alright. After the car had been trucked to Florida, Dependable removed several toolboxes from the trunk of my car because it was "not allowed". I was never able to get an answer from them as to who wouldn't allow them in the vehicle. These items (I hope) are still stuck in Florida as I figure out a way to get them packed and shipped. The people I have been able to finally get on the phone have been both rude and unhelpful. Would not recommend this company. The car did arrive without damage except the windshield wipers were missing.

Fast, Reliable, Best Price - Highly Recommend
by mlgpa ,Dec 14 '03
Pros: very quick process, best price, faster than promised delivery, helpful staff
Cons: none in my case
We had 2 cars to move cross-country from Bay Area (CA) to Northern Virginia. I got several online & telephone quotes and DAS was best by far. Was also heartened to see that DAS had been around for a long time & had generally good reviews on epinions. We dropped off one car at the terminal & had the other picked up by DAS. The registration process by phone was very straightforward & drop-off procedure was relatively quick (most time spent on a thorough review of car's exterior). Our cars made it x-c in only a week (well before they were promised -- and ahead of our household goods which traveled on a moving truck). The cars were in perfect condition, reps at the pick-up location were extremely friendly and helpful, and the pick-up procedure was very quick. I highly, highly recommend DAS. A way better than I had hoped for experience!

Took 40 days
by ads814 ,Apr 17 '07
Pros: wasnt damaged
Cons: everything else
They got my car to me, though I didn't understand their boneheaded system. I never would have hired them had I known. When I hired them they quoted me 15 days to get from Woburn, Mass. to St. Louis, Mo. Okay I thought, not too bad. Well 15 days came and went and my vehicle was still in NY. They updated ETA to 20 days. Well 20 days came and went and vehicle still in NY (Sat in NY for a week)Finally amazingly after repeated calls to customer (no) service and ranting and raving, it started moving. Few days later it was in Chicago, 300 miles away. I called to see if I could just come and get it from that point and was in formed that it was on a train and could not be taken off. Had to wait another two weeks for it to travel all the way to New Mexico then to Texas and to sit in Texas for a week. Finally arrived after 40 days, but now I owe title penalties and its too late to get temporary tags. Dont use DAS.

Pros: Excellent !
Cons: None
I made my decision based on the reviews I read about the moving companies.I was not sure I could rely on these reviews !...Was I wrong ! I would suggest that everybody should read a review before hiring or buying....
The price was reasonable, the move was excellent and dependable as their name implies !...and on time as scheduled.

DAS Did Excellent Job
by lindrelt ,Jun 09 '07
Pros: On time, good rate, location tracking, no damage
Cons: Car will sit some days waiting transfer to another truck
I used DAS to ship an eBay purchased Mazda MX-5 from Dartmouth MA to Houston TX. After reading the reviews here I was real uncertain what to expect -- they seemed to be either great or poor. When the order was placed they already knew the car had to be top load because of the convertible top. I used depot to depot service. I was quoted an estimated delivery date which they beat by 5 days. The car arrived with no spots on the cloth roof so it must have been on top. I was able to follow the progress of the car using the web site tracking feature. They called it was ready to pick at at depot about 2 hours after tracking said it was in town. Would use again myself and highly recommend!
