couch disposal fee? i didnt even move a couch

i rented a u haul trailer in edmonton to make a short move over the weekend and the trailer worked fine. it was due back monday mourning at 7am so i dropped it off at around 7 on sunday after they closed and left it parked in their yard. things were kosher unitl i got my credit card bill 2 months later when i was charged $74 for the rental; and a additional $167 as a separate charge unbenounced to me. upon my phone call it turns out this unauthorized charge is the disposal fee for a couch that was left in my trailer. now, when this trailer was returned it didnt have as little as a leaf in it. i made an argument with the managerand he was less than understanding when i asked for my money back he laughed and literally hung up on me when i said i intended to file a complaint.
am i the only one who has had problems like this? please give me a response.

Our experience with U-haul was fantastic. Everyone was extremely friendly and prepared. The quotes we got online were always the same, if not slightly higher than what we ended up paying. The service was friendly and knowledgeable at all stages of the process. We would definitely use U-Haul for its outstanding service again!

Pros: Not one that I can think of.
Cons: The entire experience was a con. This will be the last one for us.
What an absolute nightmare, trying to deal with these people. Do not bother making any kind of reservations for a truck or storage space; reservations are meaningless with u-haul. A confirmation number is just an imaginary number someone pulls out of the air & has you write down.
After driving a total of 87 miles, visiting two locations to get a truck (the first location had 4 trucks on the lot & no one waiting, but, no truck we could use) we load the truck & arrive at the storage location our customer no-service rep told us to use. We were supposed to receive 1 month free storage, climate controlled with the rental of a one-way truck. The gentleman at the location, upon our arrival informed us that they do not offer the 1 month free at that location.
After 1 hour 20 min. of phone calls, we have to use another storage facility, 40 miles in the opposite direction. No one seems to have any of the reservations or confirmation numbers. They did, however, have our credit card number which they had no problem charging.

My Experience with U-Haul was terrible, the truck's battery died 3 times during the move. I called up U-Haul's customer support and they were not at all helpful, we were stuck in the middle of an intersection due to a dead U-haul battery. In the end U-haul charged at 80$ fine for not being able to deliver the truck in the right location. Save your money and go for a competitors moving service.

Cons: every aspect of their operation, from top to bottom
I can't risk writing the details of my experience with u haul today for fear of sinking deeper into depression and fits of anger, suffice it to say that it involved massive amounts of rudeness and indifference, a broken down vehicle, long holds on line, a convoluted, ineffective and corrupt reservation system and, well, that's just the tip of the iceberg. They are truly a horrible company and it amazes me that they are still afloat.

Great experience with Uhaul

I rented a 26 foot truck oneway from cincinnati ohio to Orlando Fl. The man that helped me at the colerain location was exceptional. He brightened my day. I just hope at some point I get a chance to get back up to cincy to see AL, who I must say is very sexy. Unfortunatly he is married (I asked him). In closing, Uhaul is lucky to have him as an employee. Plus the truck I was in ran perfectly.

Every aspect was horrible

Pros: Using u-haul is at least better than committing suicide
Cons: vehicles are not reliable, completely rude and incompetent staff
The truck that I rented could not keep up on the highway and was in disrepair. It spewed black smoke the entire trip, causing passers buy to honk at me and give me the finger. It finally broke down on the roadside. U-Haul roadside assistance was clueless, and took 2 hours to arrive.

The service manager did not offer me a discount and said he delivered everything as promised. He stated he cannot anticipate a truck breaking down and it was not his fault. There was absolutely no apology or admittance of guilt. If you are a Denver native, this was specifically the U-haul on West Colfax Ave, in Golden.

It has been over a year since my experience with u-haul, so I don’t remember the finer details, and I have just now discovered Epinions. I apologize for the lack of specific info, but I really believe people should get the basic theme, and avoid this company like the plague.

Cons: rude employees who have no sense of customer service or even of ocmmon courtesy.
I made my reservation well ahead of time, advising the man on the phone that I was making a trip 200 miles away and needed the truck for two days. When I went to pick up the truck, I was advised that they expected it back by 5:00 the same day, as someone else needed it at 6:30. Never once did clerk offer an "i'm sorry"--only "it's in the computer." My only consolation was that the man told two other potential customers he had no truck available that day--and mine sat there, I assume, after I walked out. Three other local rental companies knew, when I explained my late call, who had screwed things up.

A Nightmare

Pros: The repairman was helpful and overworked -- call center was rude --company management incompetent.
Cons: A disaster waiting to happen. I frequently see broken down U-Haul trucks. Life threatening!
Rented a truck to move from NY to Mass. - loaded it with heavy furniture on what turned out to be the hottest day of the summer (over 100 degrees)- after it was half loaded I noticed that one of the twin tires in rear had a hole in it that I could put my fist through! Called U-Haul and was on hold for hours --took 6 hours to get someone to change the tire (I had to unload truck for them to do this). Took pictures of the hole for proof. This happened in 1999 and I will never forget it!

NEVER, I repeat, NEVER use UHAUL

Cons: Their customer service is not to be believed.
1st - I reserved my UHAUL online to pick up in Canton, GA. The customer service person contacted me to pick it up over 200 miles away in Alabama. After an hour on the phone with a rude representative of UHAUL I was finally able to pick it up 8 miles from my home.
2nd - When returning the UHAUL I was told to have 1/4 tank of gas in the tank. I returned the truck with the needle at 1/4 of a tank. The desk person told me they would charge $30 refueling cost and $4.00 a gallon to put in more fuel to get the needle up to their perception of 1/4 a tank.
3rd - I was made the reserve the truck for 4 days because it was over Labor Day weekend. I returned the truck two days early and was refused a refund, but if I had kept it even 1/2 a day longer I would have been charged $40 per day.

Needed to move a piece of furniture and believed U-Haul would be a cheap way to do so. Terrible disappointment! Rented truck was old and falling to pieces. One must be aware when inspecting the vehicle, any single scratch will be charged to the costumer. If one does not purchase insurance from them, they will definitely charge for anything they can, even if the damage was not done by the costumer. Attitude towards customer is terrible, they would not listen to costumer. Better hire a bunch of gangsters than U-Haul!

Cons: Being on hold for over 45 minutes each time I called.
Find another company unless you don't mind being on hold for up to an hour when you need help from any of their "800" numbers. I made a reservation on-line and wanted to change my reservation to a larger truck. As of right now, I have made 4 attempts to call their "800" to change my reservation (you can only change your reservation via phone)and I've been on hold for 50 minutes each time and I've still have yet to get through to a person.

They called me and confirmed my reservation. When I turned up early next morning, there was neither truck nor equipment I had booked. They sent me chasing on call to another u-haul store where I was told equipment could not be confirmed until I got to the store. Finally after a long trip when I reached the new U-Haul store, the help were very rude and it was I was being done a favour to get the truck booked.

Pros: None, just using this space to add more cons...poorly maintained equipment.
Cons: Practice overbooking reservations. False promises to keep business.
Would you go through the hassle of coordinating a weekend of
moving if you knew there might be a possibility of not having a moving truck? Would anybody? No!

Guess I should have read Epinions beforehand.

Long story short. Confirmed truck with company several weeks prior and re-confirmed the day before and ended up getting excuses, not truck. Never got a straight answer to probability of getting another truck and kept saying that it would be soon when in reality they couldn't get a truck until the following Monday. Gave up after 7 hours of follow-up calls to no avail.

Ended up going with Penske and to my amaze, the truck was very new and clean. I've since moved and used another Penske dealer with similar result. I've used Uhaul before and there's no comparison.

Do the comparison before and you won't regret it.
