Cons: these locations may not have trucks, surprise!

While watiting at Penske for my truck (as per recommendation of epinions reviewers) TWO people called and said U-Haul gave them the day before call--- and said they had no trucks at all to rent in Las Vegas. They had confirmed reservations, but U-Haul does not guarantee that they will actually have a truck for you at all. Now these people were scrambling to find a truck less than a day before thier move.

Pros: Convenient internet booking
Cons: Long wait time. Crappy truck. And deceptive charging for gas.

We rented a truck to move within Cambridge,MA in Cambridge. When we rented gas was between 2/8th and 3/8th but the guy rounded up to 3/8th. We drove 12 miles. The gas was at the same setting between 2/8th and 3/8th. But the second guy rounded down. Made us pay a service charge of 30$ plus gas (1$). When we said sure we drive somewhere and refill the galleon he said "its already in the computer" and "will you pay or not pay".

Interesting way of ripping of customers.

This seems borderline illegal to me. Uhaul charges $5 to hold your reservation. There is a whole list of advisories and disclaimers on their website about rental terms, cancellations etc. Guess what? Nowhere on the entire site do they state that the $5 charge is nonrefundable if you cancel or they screw up your reservation. Never states it in the reservation confirmation you receive from them either.

Pros: Reasonable pricing. Reliable equipment.
Cons: Too much penalty for keeping the truck/dolly/blankets for a extra day or so

Well, we went for a move of 780 miles and the move went without a problem. The reservation and the confirmation of it went just fine. We were happy with the overall experience. Will use again when the need is. It was a 17 foot gas truck which was reliable and pulled my car on an auto transport just fine.

Pros: There is nothing positive I can say about them.
Cons: U haul is a bunch of criminals.

I helped a friend by paying for a months storage with my debit card. Since then I discovered they have taken an additional $500.00 from my checking account. I have no connection or agreement with u haul. They said they can use "whatever means possible" to collect storage fees according to the agreement my friend signed. They have refused to return my money.

Pros: New Truck
Cons: Shady billing, horrible customer service, limited English speaking, unwillingness to correct their own error.

Rented a U-Haul though One Stop Food Mart in Maple Shade, NJ.

DO NOT rent a U-Haul from this store or any other location for that matter!

Paid cash - and the $80.00 hold they placed on my credit card was never refunded.  The people in the store could not care less about correcting their error - and their limited English was impossible to deal with.

Contacted U-Haul corporate office, and a month later, they have been unwilling to correct their error and refund my credit card $80.00 after having paid the store location with cash!

Go with Enterprise rental!

Pros: They quoted the cheapest price for the move but found a cheaper agency.
Cons: The customer service was awful. They seemed unorganized.

Reserved a truck. They were supposed to call and verify the reservation at 5:00pm. At 5:07, we were worried and called their customer service number. The customer service agent told my partner there was nothing they could do for her. The CSR was rude and when my partner asked her for her name, the CSR hung up. I called back and got the same treatment. Two hang ups in one day. I called the local office where we were supposed to pick up the truck. He didn't have any reservation for us. When I asked him why, he said he didn't talk to that office and didn't know anybody in that office, and couldn't help me. Gave me the CSR number and told me that he had two other customers waiting.

Cons: Late Fees that are probably illegal

My husband and I normally pay on time. Last month we were having a little financial difficulty and asked them if they could wait until we made the payment for the next month, they said no problem. Well, my husband went in there today and paid the two months, one which was on time, and we were hit with an 80.00 late fee on a 75.00 unit!!!! Isn't there some type of law that they can't charge more of a late fee than what the unit costs????

Cons: They're not terribly skilled at renting trucks.

but they can't hold the reservation. We made reservations two weeks in advance, and received no truck. Further, the phone call we received to inform us of this came the day before our reserved pickup date, at 5:00 PM, so locating another truck was not much of an option.

Our truck was to be 22'; when they called, I asked if it would be possible to get a larger truck, or perhaps a smaller truck with a trailer. They hadn't even considered this, although they had nothing available there either. Argh.

I will never again use Uhaul. I will donate anything that I can't move in my car to a local thrift store. Their on-line reservation system sucks and their customer service doesn't even do that. They have no control over the hours of operation of their "independent" rental offices and that seems to be the only ones you can get an on-line reservation with. You call to attempt to get a transfer to a different pick-up site and they tell you the people are on their way in even though the local number they give you to call either goes to a voice mailbox somewhere or there is no answer. How do they know the people are on their way to the pick up site? They "should" be open in the next 15 minutes doesn't cut it when the temperature is over 100 degrees and you've already been waiting 45 minutes. Take a hike uhaul and haul your u know what to the dump.

I picked up the uhaul early morning, it rained all day. The first thing is that the lights in the cab did not work. It was about 630 and getting dark and still raining, we pulled into a shopping center to pick up some soda. The windshield wipers broke, the bar inside broke off, so my cousin had a clever idea, we bough shoe strings to tie to each end of the wipers , so when i pulled my side down he pulled his side down, it worked fine, kinda fun. other than that uhaul trucks are junk. The need to get new ones for the price you pay.

If you need a truck but you have time to loose this is the company. They don't have all the equipment available and usually the truck is not ready. The service is awful

Pros: We were given good service, the truck was ready and the return was easy.
Cons: I can't say anything bad about our experience.

On Monday, Nov. 9th, I needed to rent a uhaul truck for my grandaughter's family so they could move.  They didn't have a credit card for the company to hold, so I went to the lot and they very graciously took my information and the kids were on their way.  The people were very friendly and it was a great experience dealing with them.  If more businesses were run with a positive attitude like this dealership, there would be more smiling faces in the world.

The moving got done and when I returned the truck the next morning, I was again met with a positive attitude.  Only a few minutes, the paperwork was done, and I was on my way to work.

Cons: unable to guarantee service, unwilling to resolve problems, not customer friendly

I was very disappointed with the way my reservation was handled.  We reserved a uhaul truck and a tow trailer. We reserved almost a month in advance and were told the day before the move that some of the equipment was unavailable because the "reservation was pulled," and the remainder of our equipment was available in another city (40 minutes away in the wrong direction).  The customer service representative was unable/unwilling to offer any alternatives and basically told us: "Sorry we promised we would have it but we don't have it, and there's nothing I can do."  I contacted the corporate office and they took my number so I can leave my feedback with someone at a later date, with no promises to improve service or fix the problem.  We were depending on a moving company, and u-haul let us down. As a result, we have found another company and want to warn others about this incident with u-haul so that they can choose a different service as well. DO NOT DEPEND ON UHAUL!

DO NOT USE UHAUL FOR YOUR RENTALS! ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO NOT SMOKE. THEY CAN NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DRIVERS.

And they do not clean their trucks after they get them back. I spent the afternoon in a smoke-filled truck. It was a good thing that it was a nice afternoon and I was able to leave the window down so that I could breathe. When I asked for help with this matter, they stated their policy that they were not responsible. Huh? Car companies figured out how to do this years ago.

And the rudest people in the world worked there. Try Penske instead (972) 422-9398. Maybe they know how to treat people.
