  • The best thread around

    Dec 22, 1999 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: ease of use, durability
    Cons: in med cost range

Summary: Howdy, I have owned 4 sergers in my day. My Eclipse will be it until the sergers start whistling while they sew. I have a visual disability and could not thread my serger at all. I could not see the thread while passing it through the stages ... read more

  • This serger ECLIPSES all other sergers!

    May 1, 2010 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: EASY to thread!
EASY to change to rolled edge & back!
    Stitches are EVEN, & neat
Cons: Nothing, it makes my sewing so easy I just can't believe I got it!

Summary: I was blessed to buy my Babylock Eclipse DX for $365 on Ebay.  Sure, I had to pay shipping from Paris, France, which added on another $130 for shipping and insurance, but that was only $495 for an ECLIPSE DX!  I had to buy a up/down power ... read more

  • Baby Lock this deal up!

    Jun 20, 2008 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Smooth, easy to thread, durable
    Cons: Heavy, accessories sold separately

Summary: I've owned 3 serger machines. Baby lock eclipse is the smoothest ride. It sews so softly that it puts my sewing machine to shame. This serger has a self threading mechanism. Push a couple of buttons and your serger is threaded. This is perfect if you ... read more

  • Eclipse -- LX -- is the BEST of the bunch!

    Oct 13, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: DC Motor with Cogged Drive Belt & Micro Safety Switches
Cons: Wish presser foot lifted higher on all Eclipses, & lever was on FRONT of machine!!!

Summary: All of the Eclipse Sergers are great, but if you want heavy duty power, then the LX is a must. Read carefully the product descriptions on the Baby Lock site. The difference between the LX and the others is these things: *"LCD Teaching Screen" - ... read more

  • Anyone can serge with this Baby!

    Jun 9, 2003 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Amazingly easy to thread and sews beautifully from rolled hem to overlock to flatlock.
    Cons: Nothing of note.

Summary: I am new to serging but I carefully researched sergers before settling on the Eclipse. The jet-a ... read more

    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Easy to thread Easy to use, especially for a beginner like myself
    Cons: None so far

Summary: 6 months ago I didn't even realize I needed a serger. Now that I have my Eclipse, I can't imagine not having one. I have always been intimidated just looking at them, but once I saw how EASY this one is to thread, with the air-threading system and needle ... read more

  • This Baby takes care of itself!

    Apr 24, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: THREADS ITSELF, easy to use, has many accessories/feet
Cons: Perhaps the price for the average sewer

Summary: I already had a much loved Singer serger when I got this one with the embroidery machine I had purchased..it was the deal of the season and it was FREE!! At first, I had a very big Love/Hate relationship with this serger. I hated it more than I ... read more

  • Eclipse DX Nov. '10

    Nov 15, 2010 by
    Not rated yet
Pros: Adventuresome, serges ahead rapidly with even-ness of pressure on all fabrics
Cons: Surely wish it would have included the other presser feet that it can use.

Summary: My 25 year- old White Superlock threw a gear and broke my heart.  I went out and bought a Phaff 2.0 Hobbylock but returned it 4 days later as it could not handle heavy things and the thread kept breaking and I could not access the needle thread to ... read more

  • Why did I wait so long?

    Jul 27, 2004 by
    Rated Show
Pros: The jet-air threading and ease of use. A perfect stitch every time.
Cons: The MSRP is a shock, but you can deal!

Summary: I recently retired my Baby Lock BL4-436DF for an Eclipse. I keep asking myself why did I wait so long? What a joy to use. I chose the Eclipse for the jet-air threading, but still wanted to have control of tension settings. It's a marriage made in ... read more
