  • MY BABY LOCK

    Dec 10, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: very professional looking items made with this
Cons: none that I know of

Summary: For years I had wanted a serger. A friend of mine had one and we did a lot of sewing at her house using her serger. It took me a very long time to justify the cost! About 10 years ago I took the plunge and bought my Baby Lock serger - Model BL4-838. ... read more

  • To Thine Own Self Be True, or you could be sorry you bought it!

    Jan 9, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: It has a knife lock, rarely breaks threads, has a convenient tool storage compartment.
Cons: When the automatic tension control fails, you must take it to the shop for adjustment.

Summary: It was in 1988 that I got my first serger - a Baby Lock. Like most sergers of those days, it had more than occasional 'bad hair days' during which it would perversely refuse to stitch properly. Countless hours were spent tearing my own hair out!!! ... read more

  • Oh Baby!

    Apr 3, 2002 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Simple to use with spectacular results.
    Cons: There aren't any.

Summary: I have worked in retail, selling sewing machines and sergers of all brands. Being extemely familiar with most of the popular machines on the market, I have to tell you that when it comes to sergers this "baby" is the best! I don't know how they did it, ... read more

  • The Wow Serger!

    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: automatic tension system, absolute ease of use.
    Cons: not a 5 thread

Summary: When starting my own WAHM business, I found I needed a serger. I had never used one before but I thought, “it is a fancy sewing machine, how hard could it be?” I bought one from someone online and quickly found the answer to that question. It can be ... read more

  • Easier to Operate Than You (or I ) Could Imagine

    Oct 31, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Operator friendly
Cons: Higher cost, not a 5-thread.

Summary: We are a farm family, and my wife sews a lot of our clothes. She's really exited about her latest addition, an Imagine Serger by Baby Lock. She says the biggest problem is, now everybody wants to use the serger, and she doesn't get a chance. Here's ... read more

  • Really quality machine and easy to use!

    Jul 30, 2000 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: Ease of use, price
    Cons: none so far

Summary: I bought this serger three months after purchasing another brand of serger. When I saw this one in action I just knew I had to own my own. The stitch quality is the best I've ever seen. It is so easy to thread you wouldn't believe it. There are very ... read more

  • Serge In Style

    Apr 14, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Auto-threading and tension
    Cons: None

Summary: As my first and only serger, the Baby Lock Imagine opened up a whole new world of sewing ease for me. A gift from my mother (the professional seamstress) I wasn't sure I would use it all that much. Now I don't know how I did anything without it. After ... read more

  • Serger Simplicity

    Dec 26, 1999 by

Pros: Self-threading, no tension control knobs/dials
    Cons: Lack of seam guides

Summary: I am a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher in a middle school, teaching 7th and 8th graders. Therefore, I knew I needed a serger that was simple to thread and operate. The Baby Lock Imagine is exactly that! The unit is self-threading; it couldn't be ... read more

Pros: quality, ease of use, good instructions
    Cons: not a 5 thread

Summary: I am a stay at home mom, who sews for her family. I taught myself how to sew a few years ago, using books, and the internet. I wanted the items I made to look like bettermade clothes (baby gap/old navy), and found a great timesaver and help, a ... read more

  • Great serger - threading - eh?

    Sep 25, 2007 by
    Rated Show
Pros: Doesn't matter what order you thread the serger.
Cons: Jet air threading is tempermental sometimes. But tolerable.

Summary: I love my Baby Lock Imagine - truly I do. The jet air threading is wonderful - most of the time. When it works, it works great. Unfortunately it takes some playing and tweaking with how much thread has been fed into the machine to get it to thread ... read more
