Pros: Quality, Consistent, Excellent, Reliable and Attractive. Great Toast! Cons: Touchy retrieval of bread - takes a little extra care
The first thing I like about this is the fact that it uses wire, filament strips to heat and toast the bread. A few years back, many manufacturers began using tubular light bulbs to do this, and there is no way you can get consistent, evenly toasted...
Pros: stylish, looks clean, makes excellent toast (as if thats really hard) Cons: bread doesn't pop all the way out
Can a toaster just get any cooler? DeLonghi makes the Sports car of bread burning machines. Not only is it shiny, and retro... its Italian too!
(But most of all its shiny)
Last Christmas, I was looking for a present for my...
Pros: Style! Style! Style! & Function! Function! Function! Cons: Generous slot size makes it difficult to retrieve smaller portion size.
I must admit, while wondering around shopping for a christmas present for my mom the first thing that drew me to the DeLonghi Retro Toaster was indeed the retro look. This is one unique and stylish toaster with its industrial design. I like the satin ...
Pros: 30's modern looks, really toasts the bread Cons: Slow, deep slots make retrieval difficult.
Just prior to Christmas of 2001, your reviewer and spouse were wandering around a House 2 Home, a now defunct chain of home decoration and accessory retail stores. There was a big GOOB sale going on and we were down there to pick up some rugs and misc...
Pros: Stylish Cons: Slow toasting time.. Makes below average toast..
Negatives: 1. Made in China 2. Heating control set at maximum takes 3 minutes and 47 seconds to toast an ordinary thin slice of bread (medium to light brown toast). 3. Figure twice or more the duration for bagels and waffles. 4. Long toasting time ...
Pros: Nice design, nice crumb trays Cons: Made of cheap plastic, doesn't toast well, starts falling apart very soon after purchase
We bought this toaster to go with a stainless steel kitchen. Upon first use, it was apparent that this toaster is a dud. I like my toast to be toasted, just enough so that the inside isn't still untoasted bread, but no blackness/dark brown on the ...
Pros: Very nice appearance. I actually get compliments on my toaster. Cons: Does not toast very thin bread well.
I admit that I bought this toaster because of its cool retro look and I have not been sorry. I have had this toaster for 3 years now and I have no issues with it whatsoever; which is saying a lot, because I am very fussy with products especially when ...
Pros: Looks cool! Cons: Toast keeps burning and burning, slots too deep.
I thought I was in heaven when I bought the matching retro toaster to the De Longhi retro coffee maker. But, after only a little after a month, I find great difficulty in JUST toasting bread. It seems the DEFROST light will NOT go off on the RIGHT side ...
Pros: Very cool looking. Cons: Slow
Burns fingers
Makes terrible toast
The only good thing I can say about this toaster is that it sure looks good! And I really wanted to love it.
I HAD to have it. My partner thought it goofy to pay so much for a toaster but I loved the look and the fingerprint-proof exterior.I own...
Pros: Bagel and defrost feature. Very stylish Cons: Takes longer to toast than conventional toasters
The Delonghi retro toaster has a great bagel (only toasts on side of the bread/bagel), and a defrost feature (extends taosting time without having to adjust knobs to compensate for frozen goods).
Pros: It looks great Cons: Sloooooow. Burns your fingers when trying to get toast out.
I received this toaster as a gift - I would never have spent that much for a toaster, but it looks great so I thought I'd keep it. After two days I can't stand it anymore. It is being banished from my home. It is way too slow - and because the toast...
Pros: It looks nice. Cons: Too big, too hot, does not toast bread, can't get bread out.
We wanted to replace out 20 year old Black and Decker toaster as it was getting a bit grungy. Still works OK. We figured that if we paid top dollar we would get a quality product.
I suppose that if you want to heat the room, then this toaster will be great. The outside got so hot that it almost burnt our hands.
It does not toast sliced bread. After several attempts the bread was dry but not toasted. The elements are too far away for them to work with sliced bread. Then we could not reach the bread to get it out.
It also took up more counter space than our old 4 slicer.
Something Smells Really Bad by ckerfoot23 ,Oct 21 '04
Pros: It looks nice. Seems to work fine although I never toasted anything in it. Cons: You can't use the toaster until all the bad chemical smell has burned off.
When I brought my DeLonghi toaster, I tested it first before toasting bread. It seemed to work fine except there was a awful burning smell coming from the heating elements. It smelled like chemicals or metal burning.
I called the DeLonghi company and asked them what was wrong with it. They said, "Yes, we know, we noticed that there was an odor when you turned it on. Just run it a while it should eventually go away ." I asked do you know what chemicals are burning off when it's on and they said they had no idea.
Well, I did run the toaster a few times and it stunk up my whole apartment! I never had this happen with any other toaster in the past. For a $100.00 toaster, I would not expect this to happen and I certainly wouldn't want to eat anything toasted in it either. Ugh! I'm taking it back!
Pros: looks cool Cons: everything else besides the looks
I received this toaster as a gift and it does not work at all. I have to set it on the highest setting to toast just one side of the bread then turn the bread over to toast the other side. It takes about 8 minutes for one single piece of toast. I can make toast faster with a butane lighter.
I think there are some bogus reviewers on this product by divadeb2000 ,Jan 06 '05
Pros: super good looking, reliable, great product, good value for price Cons: I haven't had a single problem, no complaints...I wouldn't change this toaster
I've had my 4 slice DeLonghi toaster for almost 3 years now. Never had a single problem with it. It defrosts, toasts one or both sides, and does so evenly and without fail. It's easy to empty the crumb tray and it looks like a million bucks. I use it every day.
