Pros: Easy to use, no attention required. Makes healthy side dishes. Cons: None observed.
I bought my Farberware rice cooker and steamer several years ago when a local department store was going out of business. The cooker/steamer has 5 parts: the base with a heating element, the steamer basket, the removable cord, the lift-out removable ...
Pros: Easy to use and clean Cons: More expensive than some models, but worth it
This has got to be the most-used appliance in my kitchen. I use it at least once or twice a week, and could not believe the difference it makes in the flavor of rice.
Several years ago my husband had lunch with a Chinese friend. He came home...
Pros: Great for cooking large quantities of rice Cons: Not so good for steaming lots of veggies
I was out and about looking for a bread machine when I came across this - I didn't have any intentions of buying a rice cooker/vegetable steamer at the time, but since this was on sale at the store I saw it at, I went ahead and got it. I had had no...
Pros: steaming veges Cons: overcooks and even burns rice
I cannot recommend this product for anything except perhaps steaming vegetables.
I have used it twice to cook brown rice and barley and both times the temp gets so hot that water seeps out the lid; most important, the rice gets slightly burned...
Pros: nonstick interior, nice chrome base Cons: doesn't come in a smaller size
I got my rice cooker from my mom as one of my wedding gifts, and I must admit, I didn't even use it for 6 months. Since we eat indian food a lot, we cook a lot of rice, and a rice cooker is a necessity in our house.
When my cheap rice cooker called...
Pros: Reliable, easy cleanup Cons: Expensive compared to other rice cookers on the market
I cook Indian food primarily and I wanted a reliable rice cooker.
After trying other brands like salton, hamilton beach, etc without
any sucess, I decided to invest in this one. And I am glad that I did.
Worked great.... for 18 months by rbug9700 ,Mar 20 '05
Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Broken already!
This rice cooker got used occasionally, maybe 2 times a month. It was already dented when it was removed from the box, but it worked fine. After about a year, the button that was on "cook" would flip to "warm" before the rice was done. It would not allow me to click it back onto "cook". This last month it wouldn't even turn on at all! So now I am on here looking for a QUALITY rice cooker, not a $50 machine that will be broken after 18 months. My advice... spend more money the FIRST time and it will save you money in the long run.
