KitchenAid® Professional 600™ Series 6-Quart Bowl Lift Stand Mixer

by djgeiger Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jun 11 '05
Pros: One of the things that impressed me about the mixer was the all-metal construction.
Cons: The weight but dealing with the weight is worth the all-metal construction.
One thing I had always wanted was a KitchenAid Mixer. My mother had a Sunbeam Hand/Stand meaning it could be used as a stand mixer or a hand mixer. I saw no use especially as the hand mixer was too heavy. As a stand mixer, the capacity was ...

Would Buy Again

by kelly_gloria , Mar 09 '03
Pros: A convenient, sturdy mixer for basic breadmaking and desserts. A household tool.
Cons: Does not perform everything it is advertised it will do. NO MEAT GRINDING!
Our Experience:

We’ve had two 6 qt. Kitchen Aid stand mixers... both refurbished. The first lasted for one year. We made bread, cookies, icings, and lots of wonderful things with it. We also used the grinder attachment to grind beef into...

A Dream Come True!!!!

by mom2jodasesh , Dec 02 '04
Pros: Lifelong heirloom quality, large batch capability, professional look, how can you go wrong?
Cons: The hub knob seems to be a little iffy...
I started professional cake baking/decorating after I started having children. I always wanted to make creative and fun birthday cakes for my kids, so I read a lot of cake decorating magazines, tried some stuff out to figure it out and learned quite a ...

Now this is a MIXER !!

by pgmart , Jul 11 '02
Pros: Power to spare makes the KA Pro a great choice for large batches
Cons: The mixing bowl is difficult to remove and replace.
Okay so it sounds a little like a pretty big drill press or maybe a radial arm saw. But when you're working with 525 watts of mixing torque and power you shouldn't be surprised that this mixer sounds like a power tool. When I got my Professional, (I...

Three Strikes...

by patienceltd , Nov 21 '00
Pros: Impossible to determine
Cons: Defective product
***Love at first sight, hate at first use:

Imagine my surprise when a relatively simple bread recipe with 8 cups of flour killed my new baby mixer. Am I disappointed? You betcha. Then it happened again, and again... on two additional...

Strike One

by sherwindan , Dec 03 '00
Pros: Raw power. Big bowl with nice handle.
Cons: Noisy. Cheap wire whisk.
My KitchenAid experiences have - up until this purchase been very positive. In my kitchen can be found a KA dishwasher, Superba convection oven/range, two KA blenders (old and new styles), and 3 stand mixers dating from the fifties. Two are estate sale...

If you cook, you have to have one!

by olwynj , Dec 27 '02
Pros: Extremely versatile; Heirloom quality appliance; Worth every penny!
Cons: Not for small kitchens or limited countertop space; Expensive; Poor Out-of-Box Experience
While the accessories alone could break the bank you can usually find a bargain for one of these incredibly versatile machines on EBay, new or refurbished by KitchenAid themselves.

I have always loved my KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer, but I...

Finally I've reached the top.

by rdmiller , Dec 06 '02
Pros: Most powerful motor available. Slow gear-up feature prevents flour storms. Tough, durable.
Cons: Noisy (sounds like an airplane). Big.
I make pizza dough nearly every day. (My teenage son won't eat anything else, and I've conceded the fight.) I started (innocently) with a bread machine, and after going through 4 of them, switched to a KitchenAid 5-quart (Artisan) mixer. Ironically, I...

The WORST mixer and KitchenAid ever - does not deserve the name

by sb765t , Feb 29 '04
Pros: NONE
Cons: LIGHTWEIGHT, NO POWER, SMELLY, NOISY, WON'T MAKE DOUBLE BATCHES, WIMP, POS, HORRID
I begged for this mixer for Christmas. After recieving it, the first time I turned it on, it emmitted a burning motor smell. Hoping that it was just breaking in, I used it. I trusted KitchenAid because I've owned 2 of the smaller 4.5 qt models, ...

Mix it up baby!

by ONLYTRUTH , Oct 31 '00
Pros: large easy many uses
Cons: none
This is one of those products that will probably outlast you. You've seen those old kitchenaid mixers that your grandmother had still churning away after nearly 100 years. So did I, that's why I bought this powerful beast.

Cakes, breads,...

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

by wenger6 , Jun 14 '02
Pros: Great for general use, cures "tired arm/tiptoe" syndrome, good for large quantity cooking.
Cons: Motor tends to overheat/shutdown under "expected to handle" load. Too tall. Needs to be tilt-head!
I really love my new mixer! Looks great, can use for many things, and for making large batches, it can't be beat (no pun intended). BUT
First - you have to get an incredible amount of excess oil off before you want to eat anything mixed with it....

KitchenAid Model Has KNOWN Defective Switch

by snoopyfan , Jul 10 '02
Pros: Huge capacity, powerful motor, attractive design. Fabulous warranty.
Cons: Defective switch; Currently waiting for 3rd unit. Poor quality control.
I've wanted a stand mixer for years, and finally decided to treat myself to a white KitchenAid Professional Stand Mixer. As a $370 splurge that I will likely use 15-20 times a year, I expected that this would be the only stand mixer I would ever need....

Looks pretty, under engineered & overpriced...

by jrhelgeson , Dec 02 '05
Pros: Great for beating eggs and really lightweight batters.
Cons: Don't waste your time using this to make bread.
Update: January 31, 2006 I have in my possession the newly redesigned Kitchenaid with an all metal gear cover. It also appears that Kitchenaid has gone through this mixer (Pro 600) and removed everything plastic. The only thing plastic on this now is ...

LOVE THIS MIXER!!!!

by Susan_K , Feb 07 '02
Pros: Cut my baking prep time in half, very quiet
Cons: The price is daunting, until you realize all the extras that come w/it.
My fiance bought this for me as a Christmas present to replace the hand-mixer I've been using for years. Because I do so much baking and cooking for dinner parties and for work he wanted to get me something that would not only be functional, but...

cakes galore!

by nicnic409 , Jan 16 '05
Pros: Very powerful, and great for doing big volume mixing.
Cons: Can rust on the bottom edge from normal kitchen counter cleaning.
I started making cakes for my children's birthdays, and was using my fathers old rotating bowl mixer. It took quite a long time, but worked okay. The more cakes I made, the more I liked doing it (making cakes, that is). I needed a better mixer! ...
