YUMMY!!!

by Jamo , Jan 18 '00
Pros: Great Bread!
Cons: Takes a while
I have had my bread maker for years. I love it. I notice that I go through spurts with it. I will use it a lot for a while, and then barely ever for a while. But over all, I really appreciate the bread it makes. The main draw back is how long it...

Great bread machine!

by wyo2 , Apr 14 '09
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: No window to watch.
This isn't my first bread machine but this is by far the best one I have ever owned.  First of all, the recipes are great.  My family makes pizza on a regular basis and the pizza crust recipe is better than a mix.  It has a wonderful ...

Great bread - wrong gift!

by RockyBug , May 10 '09
Pros: Easy to use and programmable timer.
Cons: It is not a very attractive addition to the kitchen counter.
Okay, you would think that I would have learned a lesson many years ago - or at least that I would have smartened up somewhat.First mistake - Telling my wife that I did not feel as though I needed to get her a Mother's Day gift because she is not ...

Pros: best bread
Cons: none that i know of
I recently gave in and bought this expensive bread maker, not knowing all the good I would recieve in return.
I think that everyone loves bread and just can't figure out how to make it just like they do in the resturants.
That smell that you...

Nothin' like fresh bread in the morning

by devray , Jan 19 '00
Pros: many modes, good recipes
Cons: you have to wait at least 3 hours for the good bread to be finished
The Panasonic break maker is a dream come true. This thing can make hundreds of types of bread, and is an absolute no brainer. Just put the ingredients into the machine, and bam, you have yourself a bread. There are many different types modes for...

Excellent
by m7310032 ,Jul 21 '04
Pros: Reasonable price for a excellent machine. Best on market.
Cons: Can not stop eating bread.
The best purchase I have done lately, the bread comes out as a perfection, it is delicious, natural, soft and tasty.
Very easy to handle the machine, quick clean up, no hassle. Ever since I've got this bread machine I can't stop baking and eating bread. If anyone is considering to buy a machine, please go with that and you'll not be disappointed. Guaranteed. It's well worth its price and the bread stays fresh for days.
The recipes you may have to alter a little bit, sometimes add more water than suggested but all it takes is experiment.
Every day is an excitement for me when I start baking.

still going strong after 3500 loaves
by george_s ,Oct 19 '03
Pros: easy to use and extremely durable
Cons: nothing that I can think of
We borrowed this breadmaker from my inlaws about 10 years ago when they went away for a month. We made at least a loaf a day while they were gone. When they returned we had our own within 18 hr. I think it was something like $350 cdn which was by far the most expensive on the market at that time but we had to have one. For 10 years we have averaged about 1 loaf per day and the only problem we have noticed is that the teflon coating on the mixing paddle fell off after about 6 years (2200 loaves) and it is a little trickier to get the loaf out of the pan now. We still use it everyday and have since picked up another one to keep on the shelf just in case this one breaks down.

Great Taste -- Choice for Serious Home Baker
by fishinpier ,Feb 04 '04
Pros: Great taste, quiet kneading, easy operation and neat, compact design.
Cons: Small recipe booklet, but no problem, really.
I decided to buy this machine because of its special yeast dispenser -- it automatically adds yeast to the dough at the right time halfway through the kneading process, not from the beginning. Since yeast interferes with gluten development, adding yeast later in the kneading process is crucial for the texture of bread, especially those made with wholewheat flour. We were really amazed at the taste of the wholewheat bread made by this machine!

This Bread Machine Is A Delight To Own!
by border13 ,Jan 05 '04
Pros: The next best thing to preparation by hand.
Cons: A rather bulky machine but worth the counter space.
Since my tastes in bread were never satisfied by those loaves I had tasted as a result of other bread machines, I bought this machine thinking I would certainly have to return it! To my surprise the Panasonic SD-YD250 offers up excellent tasting French and Italian breads with the added pleasure of the best raisin bread I've ever tasted, bar none. The machine offers three choices in the size of loaf as well as additional crust finishes. If you like a light, medium or dark color to the crust, simply choose the one that suits the bread. Making bread has never been easier and the result in texture, taste and size is sure to please the most finicky palette.

I have owned 4 bread machines - this is the best.
by geo_in_pa ,Apr 06 '04
Pros: Yeast dispenser works great - all features work "as advertised"
Cons: I'm going through a lot of flour. My friends and neighbors are "hooked".
I have purposely waited a few weeks before writing a review. I bought the Panasonic SD-YD 250 after quite a bit
on on-line research - including all the reviews at this site. I do want to thank others who entered reviews - you were helpful!

So far I have made white, wheat, and rye in the machine, including several variations on each from a recipe book. Every loaf has been superb.

The bread shapes and cooks nicely. The yeast dispenser is an excellent feature. The loaves have a full, round top and the texture is very good. the loaves come out clean and easily.

I can't think of a thing I don't like about the machine. I have owned Dak, Welbuilt, Regal and now this Panasonic - and this is by far the best.

It is "as advertised". An excellent value for the money.

Best Bread Machine Ever!
by serenityj22 ,Nov 28 '03
Pros: Separate yeast dispenser and well constructed.
Cons: No viewing window.
I have owned this bread machine for about 3 months now and every loaf has been perfect. This is my third bread machine and it is by far the best. Breads that never turned out in my previous machines have been perfect in this machine. It doesn't matter if you bake it right away or use the timed feature, the bread is consistently perfect. I think the separate yeast dispenser is one of the best features. I believe this is one reason the success rate is terrific. The machine is well constructed. I missed the viewing window at first, but have gotten used to it since every loaf is perfect. I would recommend this machine to everyone.

WOW oh wow what a bread maker
by fire8ward ,Mar 13 '04
Pros: Too many to list, great quality, makes quality bread.
Cons: Don't like there pizza dough recipe.
What a bread maker!I purchased this unit for my wife, it is the second bread maker we have purchased. The first (Sunbeam) we threw out because it couldn't even mix the dough. This one though makes a great loaf of bread and with the yeast hopper you can (Pardon the pun) but, set it and forget it. We use it regularly and are using some low carb recipes she got off the web that make good breads as well.

Great Product!
by spongerob ,Jan 01 '07
Pros: Makes great bread every time, easy to use, comes with good recipes.
Cons: None that I have found so far.
I read dozens of reviews on this bread machine as well as on Cuisenart and Breadman machines. Most all of the reviews on the Panasonic machine were good to very good vs. the other two makers. Based on these reviews I purchased the Panasonic SD-YD-250 machine and I was not disappointed! First loaf came out excellent as have subsequent loaves. Great product!

My geriatric Panasonic still going strong!
by stormygace ,Sep 01 '07
Pros: Reliable 13+ yo work horse which gets heavy use w/o any problems
Cons: not enough mouths to feed all the lovely bread one could easily churn out.
Bought this as an indulgence during residency - between 1994-1995 - it was an indulgence as $ were tight. What a great decision! One of my bestest most reliable kitchen products - right up there with the 1985 vintage Cuisinart & my 2006 Electrolux.
The Panasonic bread machine gets used 2 to3x a week - never a problem! I do listen to hear if she sounds like she's straining with too dry dough & I rarely actually bake in her anymore as I prefer to shape my breads by hand. However I do if I want to awaken to the smell of freshly baked bread (that's a really nice way to begin a cold dark morning!).This machine is awesome. No "jam" or "cake" settings - just a reliable workhorse I cherish. Multigrain & raisin settings are very useful bells & whistles.
