Wonderful use of credit card reward points!
by mcc1368 ,Aug 26 '04
Pros: Too many to start listing them here. Cons: none
What a great mixer, strong, reliable, and attractive. We love this machine, and it proves quality products are still being made! The list of attachments is almost endless, as are the uses. Very pleased with this product.

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT
by faagirl720 ,Oct 27 '04
Pros: attachments galore
10 different speeds
easy to clean Cons: a little heavy
I will never need anything else in the kitchen. I love to bake & cook & this machine makes it that much more fun & that much easier to get things done around the kitchen. I leave it & let it mix up the cake mix while I put some stuff away & clean up a little. I love the fact that the top lifts up to make it easy to remove the bowl & clean the attachments. Oh, & the attachments, I could go on & on & on about this machine. If you like to cook or bake, or both, then you have to have this machine. It's awesome.

Almost 20 years and still going
by kaptivating49 ,Feb 18 '08
Pros: Superb Machine.... Reliable and seems as if it will last forever. Cons: Cost is high, but you get your moneys worth. A little heavy
My mom has had this mixer for almost 20 years. She uses the mixer quite frequently. It still works like a champ. My mom didn't hesitate to spend over $300 on a professional series for me on Christmas when I mentioned I was thinking of buying one. I don't have much more to say.

I love KitchenAid
by twenga ,Dec 29 '04
Pros: Lasts for years well worth the price. If you bake at all buy one. Cons: It's heavy. If you do a lot of baking get a bigger size.
I love my KitchenAid. It is by far my favorite kitchen appliance. I do a lot of baking and use it on a weekly if not daily basis. My mom has a KitchenAid that my grandmother gave to her, it is over 20 years old and is still working great. My mom was moving when I came over and she wanted me to make a meringue pie but all she had available for me to use was a hand mixer. Took me a year and a half (it felt like) to whip up egg whites and get them stiff and I had to sit there holding it. Nothing like walking away and letting the mixer do it's work, plus it does it ten times quicker. Next time I came over I brought my KitchenAid with me. I won't bake without it. It is worth its weight in gold and that's a lot of weight. The only thing I would do differently next time is buy a bigger size. Some of the commercial kitchens I worked in use Hobart which is a commercial brand of KitchenAid. All their products work great. I love KitchenAid

Heavy and durable but won't last a lifetime
by sunvista ,Nov 23 '05
Pros: Very heavy and durable. Very versatile and fairly quiet. Cons: Don't buy this expecting to hand it down as a family heirloom.
I've had one of these since 1998 and it just gave up this week making a loud grinding noise. Probably a pending motor or transmission failure. This mixer is heavy and durable and probably the best available but....many reviews here say it will last a lifetime. "Lifetime" is always a subjective term and certainly not a legal one with product warranties. Lifetime of a mixer perhaps but not your typical human being.

A MUST FOR EVERY DOMESTIC GODDESS
by b_e_t_t_i_n_a ,Oct 05 '05
Pros: durability, ease-of-use, time and energy saver, safer for children to use than a hand-held mixer Cons: wanting to buy all the accessories!?!
My mother, a domestic goddess in her own rite, preferred kitchenware to jewelry. I found this quite peculiar until I became a junior goddess in the making! (Mind you, I love the bling bling equally).
I finally got this KitchenAid product this year. The familiar quiet rotary murmur of the stand-up mixer evokes the best memories of the buzz of gatherings around the kitchen in anticipation.
The durability and ease-of-use of this product is unparalleled. The fact that it hasn't changed from the original and that I have the same mixer as my mom, 20 years later, is proof in itself.
Many reviewers complained about the weight of their mixers being a hassle to move from storage to the counter. I proudly display my mixer on the counter!!! I presently live in China where I haven't been able to buy this product and lugged mine in my luggage all the way back to Beijing! It was a hassle but one that was well worth it!

Stylish cooking
by mpizov ,Nov 17 '07
Pros: Easy to use and clean, stylish Cons: Couldn't find any
Being a lower than average cook, I got this mixer as a housewarming gift. It took me a while to use it for the first time and I absolutely loved it!!
It's easy to operate, change speeds and later take parts out for cleaning.
And best of all, it's a beautiful addition to the kitchen when not in use :-)

the best mixer ever
by grapes71 ,Apr 16 '07
Pros: easy to clean, lasts forever, can mix everything. Cons: none
I have used a Kitchen Aid ever since I was a little girl. I can't imagine living without it. Making things with a Kitchen Aid puts enjoyment into cooking. It is quiet, and clean. It mixes things fast, it allows for multi-tasking which is great. The price may seem high, but I assure you it is not, you will soon get your money out of it. In my opinion I don't think that a kitchen is complete without it.

15 years & better than ever.
by annapest ,Jun 20 '06
Pros: easy to clean & use, seems indestructible, invaluable for food preparation. Cons: pricey attachments
My mother got her Kitchenaid Classics Stand mixer the christmas I was 8 years old. When I moved to college, a 5-hour drive from upstate new york to new york city, it moved with me, and held up through the abuse I set it through in college, including a drop out of a 2nd-story window (though it did require a LOT of cleaning & a little re-painting). It then traveled with me on a 26-hour car ride with me when I moved in with my husband, and it still works just as well as brand-new. It makes many impressive-seeming dishes for entertaining very easy to make, which makes us want to entertain more often. Since it's easy to clean (barring a 2-story drop into the mud) we don't mind having friends over.
My one big complaint is that the mixer itself doesn't come with many attachments (a dough hook, a whisk & a paddle), and the ones you can buy afterwards tend to be pretty pricey. The 3-piece pasta attachment we got as a wedding gift was 120 USD, for example, which is about 80 USD more expensive than a stand-alone pasta maker.

Who says a mixer isn't romantic?
by blondcook ,Jan 26 '09
Pros: It is easy to use and clean. Cons: I will get a larger one next time.
My husband came home with this as a surprise one day. I have used this every weekend since he bought. My kids were so intrigued they are now cooking, so they can use it! This is the best gift I have gotten in years.

Only Buy one you can Test Drive first!
by whimseyhenge ,Jan 28 '09
Pros: A good machine. Cons: Test drive it first -quality control at the factory has gone down hill.
I've used many of these Kitchenaid stand mixers in various households and commercial kitchens over the past two decades. Having a stand mixer is great as it frees up your hands. But this machine can have problems. I'm a professional chef that works for private families. One of my employers purchased a dud - the transmission smelled wrong and sounded wrong every time you used it. It burned out in two months of sporadic use. Another employer hadn't used hers for several months. The oil in the transmission separated and thankfully I stopped it before the gears were stripped. SO word of Caution -- Don't let this machine sit without using it every once and a while - Just like a car, you have to start the engine to keep everything lubricated. My personal machine has served me well for a decade now - I bought extra bowls to save cleaning up for when I'm finished.
